Magnets can wipe (delete) hard-drives. Has research been done to make sure this doesnt happen?

Because memory cards don’t use magnetism to function they are not affected by the strength of magnets generally available. Even the magnetic hard drives computers use need extreme magnetic fields to affect them, and it tends to be mechanical damage with parts bending. Even so, they usually keep their data, which is why old PCs used for confidential information usually have their hard drive removed and treated with a workshop persuader, aka hammer! I would not personally risk putting a powerful magnet near any precision electronics - camera, lens, hifi etc just in case there’s any steel in there that might move and distort delicate parts.

Is this faster than downloading directly from a Sony A1? What speed do you get?

Yes. Much faster. Sony A1 can download direct at max speed of just over 300mbps. Type A card with dedicated reader can reach nearly three times that speed

Is this card reader windows compatible (with either thunderbolt or usb c), as it's not listed in the specifications?

I use it on Windows 10 with the USB3 to USB C cable supplied. I also use it on Windows 11 laptop with USB C to USB C cable supplied. I use CF Express and SD cards and the transfer is very quick, it gets hot, but this is normal.

Will this transfer files from a uhs ii ss card faster than connecting usb cable from camera to computer.

now i got it.... i cant live without it, its sooo fast!

at first i was apprensive about paying this much for a card reader. now i got it.... i cant live without it. its a solid brick. the magnetic back is handy too. easy to use, comes with a usbC and usbA cable too. goes upto speed on a m2 mac. functions well as a card reader. and now i got it, i would say its value for money. its just sooo FAST!!

Damaged a £250 SD card after second use.

I rarely review things but the second time I used this it damaged one of the plastic table on a £250 SD card, which was Pro-Grade branded. The slot is too sharp and I think too small for SD cards. So I'm returning it, and I'm down a perfectly working £250 SD card. Pretty mad at Pro-grade and won't be buying them again for any products.

Kutusu ve kendisi de harika beklentilerimin üstünde çıktı. Bizim işimiz video prodüksiyon işi olduu için ana akım markalara bazen fazladan para vermek zorunda kalıyoruz. Ama bu ürün onların tekelini bence kırıyor. Hiç O kartların üreticisi olan markaya daha fazla para vermenize gerek yok. Très bon lecteur

Ayant un APN Sony pouvant accueillir des CFexpress type A, j'ai acquis ce lecteur afin de ne pas avoir à brancher mon APN pour transférer les médias. Belle finition et petit point pratique : le dessous est aimanté. Ça me permet de la coller à ma tour et de ne pas avoir peur qu'il bascule. Transfert super rapide. Rien à dire.
