Does the on-off trigger lock in the on position or do you have to keep continuous pressure on it?

Both! The SINGER Stitch Quick+ offers both handheld and desktop mode. In handheld mode, the on/off trigger must be pressed down continuously for the machine to run. In desktop mode, the trigger must be pressed once to turn it on and will stay on until the trigger is pressed again.

Is the ac adapter input 3.5 mm?

The adapter must be 6V 1000mA. Adapter must use plug with a 2.1mm x 5.5mm diameter.

I have a 6v 500a adapter. would that work, instead of using a 6v 1000a adapter? would it hurt the sewing machine? or just make it go slower?

I don’t know but I wouldn’t recommend the product
