Best shave soap
I originally ordered Mahogany however recieved Tobacco. I messaged WSP and they promptly shipped out the correct order at no extra charge. Perhaps this was more on purpose then by accident because the Tobacco scent is incredible. I'll review them both here. The Mahogany is a hard soap and the scent is light and subtle as most Mahogany scents seem to be, very pleasant, I like it. The lather however is what makes this soap. It produces a rich creamy full lather, the best of all the soaps I have. It allows your razor to glide over your face for a nice close shave and leaves your face smooth and soft with minimal suds. This is currently my favorite soap to shave with. Tobacco... WOW! What an amazing scent, of all my soaps this scent is by far my favorite. A powerful masculine sweet tobacco. However I am conflicted because unlike the Mahogany, this is a soft creamy soap that I find easier to scoop a little out and and swirl around my shave bowl to use. I'm not a fan of creamy shave soaps. This however works better then others I have used, not as good as the solid Mahogany though. I will continue to buy this as long as they make it cause I love the scent. So far the pros of each soap outweigh the cons and I look forward to trying more from WSP in the future.

Love it!
This soap is hands down my favorite shave soap. I like the smell, but the soap itself is incredible. My skin never feels dry and it provides a nice rich thick lather. The shave is very smooth. The scent is a little antique is the best way I can describe it. It's complex, and reminds me of my grandpa. I find it hard to describe but it is not fruity or flowery. It's just there. This has become my go-to shave when dressing up or donning a suit. Definitely find the smell a cooler weather scent. It's a "gentleman" in a tub! You need a pair of had stitched classy tan brogues to go with it! The best part with this soap is it is a artisan soap. I contacted the company with a issue I had with a scent I had of theirs in their vegan line. They quickly replaced it and were prompt with their response. This company has some of the best customer service I have ever experienced.

Wonderful shave soap
I have used various shaving soaps in the past with mixed results. This soap is by far the best soap I have used. No problem working a good lather, very good cushion and lubrication. It actually hydrated my face rather than dry it out. I shaved with a 1964 Gillette slim adjustable loaded with a feather blade with 4 shaves on it. I had the handle adjusted to 3 for with the grain and 4 against. This is the closest shave I have ever had and it’s due in no small part to the soap. Feather blades are very sharp but rather harsh. This soap tamed that. I purchased the Gaelic Tweed scent. The scent is a nice evocation of Green Irish Tweed. The tallow of the soap does deepen the scent and give it a fatty note, but the scent on its own is much more “green” smelling. Perhaps more lemon verbena than the iris or ambergris. It does not clash at all with the original Creed scent. So don’t expect this to have you saying “wow that smells just like GIT” maybe closer to Aspen. If you buy this to have a very great shave soap you will not be disappointed. 4 stars because the scent doesn’t quite hit the mark.

WOW! Fantastic shave soap!
Let me preface this review by saying that I have been wet shaving since '09 and have tried 20+ different shaving soaps and creams. But this product gave me, without a doubt, the MOST COMFORTABLE SHAVE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED! I shaved with a Merkur Futur safety razor with a Feather double edge blade (the best brand you can buy), and used a silvertip badger hair brush to prep and apply this soap. The smell of the soap is nice and very understated, and the lather was on par with any other quality soap. But when I passed the razor down my cheek I was completely surprised at the feel. Imagine, if you will, lathering up your face and drawing a closed-comb safety razor without a blade in it across your face. That's exactly what this felt like! Smooth as silk and ZERO irritation. I had to check again to make sure the blade was set up correctly in the safety razor. After completing the first pass (with the "grain"), I re-lathered and shaved against the grain. Again, smooth as silk! Usually shaving around my Adam's apple yields irritation and razor burn but not with this soap. Pure bliss! Zero irritation! Do yourself a big favor and order a tin of WSP Formula T shaving soap. I cannot wait to try the other scents.

WSP, Formula-T Mahogany Scent Shaving Soap
I purchased this product based on the company’s reputation, the description of the scent, the ingredients, particularly the tallow, and to a lesser extend other reviewers perspectives, since these are typically subjective and affected by skin type, hair type, environmental conditions (i.e., water hardness, prep-work), time between shaves, tools (razor/blades, brushes), and others. I am new to wet shaving; this review is based on using a Merkur progressive (which I love), setting 3, the Sandalwood TOBS (which I also love), and the Personna DE Blue Razor blades (which compared to Merkur blades, these are outstanding!!). I must say that I truly enjoy the smell of lavender and wood-type scents, i.e., cedar, sandalwood, and now the mahogany (formula-T) from the WSP product line. My review is based on comparing the performance of the Formula-T against sandalwood TOBS, although two different types of soaps, one being a cream and the other an actual harder soap, it is all about expectations and the subjective components of smell and feel. TOBS creates an incredible amount of slick lather quickly, Formula T is water thirsty and requires more work to obtain the same amount of lather using a badger brush (Perfecto brand 100% Pure Badger). Although the scents between TOBS sandalwood and WSP Mahogany are completely different, I enjoy both fragrances equally. The mahogany scent is complex having woodsy-cedar, almond-like undertones that linger for some time, but not overwhelmingly so…I truly enjoy the scent of this soap. The lather of TOBS, in my opinion, last much longer, it is thicker (cushiony) and slicker to the feel. It also requires less water and effort to form; the peaks are solid and well rounded. The WSP lacks the consistency (thick/high peaks, cushion); it requires more water, and considerable more effort to develop, particularly when using a boar bristle brush (Semoge 1305). Once developed, the lather dissipates rather quickly and it is not as slick or cushiony making the razor skip or somewhat “jump” areas on your face. The first time I used WSP, I used a badger brush, I loaded enough to make 3 passes, however, when using the bristle brush the second time shaving, I guess I “misjudge” the amount of soap because, I unfortunately had to put my shaving routine on-hold to make a second batch in order to make the third pass. Another negative I found with Formula-T is that even if you perform one small stroke or pass without the full protection of the soap (as I done with TOBS to test slickness and protection), it is not something I would attempt again with the WSP, you can immediately tell no protection is left behind following an initial razor pass. I found that having the Progress at setting 3 (and new blade) causes more irritation with the Formula-T than when using TOBS under the same conditions. In concluding, I rate WSP Formula-T 3-stars. Formula-T Mahogany has a unique and very enticing scent, one I would truly love for other soap makers to imitate. The lack of slickness makes it less than ideal for someone with sensitive skin, since sensitive skin individuals will feel the razor dragging and skipping actions causing irritation and possible mishaps. The lather thickness is also lacking, but again, this factor was only when comparing it to one other soap. WSP behaves and performs much better with a badger than a bristle brush. It appears that more soap product is required to make the same amount of lather as the TOBS. Delivery was prompt; the bottom of the tin can was somewhat dented upon arrival, but nothing to affect the integrity of the product. The can was filled to the top, not leaving any room to maneuver the brush, but this is insignificant, considering I use a separate bowl to prepare the lather. I am sure that my not so ideal experience with this soap is limited or hindered by my "inexperience" in wet shaving and not fully developed shaving techniques…I believe it would be fair as I continue to use this product and I continue to work through the learning curve to experience improved performance. I will update this review at a later date to rectify my rating appropriately.

Great product from great company!
I have three soaps from this company but they are not from the edition, ( Gaelic tweed, Matterhorn, and citrus blast) all of which perform and smell amazing. I wanted to try their tallow edition soaps and I chose the Barbershop scent because I do not own any barbershop scented soap until now. The only addition to this review is and will be that the cushion and slickness of WSP in general is second to none. I always enjoyed and still enjoy my WSP soaps. The price, with the amount of product in the tin of this soap is amazing. The scent I can describe as a slight citrus Italian cologne, or a fresh clean scent you would capture in a barbershop. I really do like this scent maybe because it's new to me but I do find myself leaning towards barbershop scents in general. I recommend this product to DE and straight razor shavers, the cushion and slickness of this soap is just amazing. The scents of WSP will not knock your nose out with strength but it is there and it makes sure you know it's there. If you want to read more about my experience with the WSP shaving soaps check my WSP Citrus Blast soap review. Thank you

Nice Shaving Soap
This soap produces a nice and slick lather. Has a great fragrance too. I also really liked the shampoo bar sample they sent me. I will be ordering that.

Great scent and lather, excellent shave soap
I love this scent and the scent is stronger than most shave soaps which is a big plus for me. Shaving performance is outstanding. It builds a thick, lubricating lather fairly easily. In my experience with this soap most of the lather building is on the face, not on the soap itself, mostly because the tin it comes in is a rather small diameter. Of the different shaving soaps I've tried over the years this is the smallest diameter container I've ever received. With a larger container this would have easily scored five stars and I'm not sure I would ever try another soap. As it is, every time I start to use it I find myself slightly irritated by the size of the tin.
