Sweet little saw!
Hi all, I bought this as a carry around saw for my tool bags, its been great so far! Very sharp and leaves a pretty nice cut for such an aggressive blade. Highly useful, even on a cut station for cut outs in plywood panels, or to finishing off stair stringers and other notches/corner cuts. I've saved myself some trouble dragging out a jig saw more then a few times with this saw. A few quick swipes and you're done! Its also come in handy up on a ladder if you have some small things to trim off. I would not use it on anything that might have nails in it though, wouldn't want to knick up the blade.

Super Agressive. Precise. Well Balanced.
easily the best pull saw I have ever used. Clean cuts, easy to control, and it eats through anything I use it on. It's easy to get a little carried away if you're not paying attention. I was cutting some 3/4 inch plywood and cut right through the 2x4 sawhorse. Update: I have now been using this saw nearly daily for 2 1/2 years. It is every bit as sharp as the day I bought it. I regularly use it to race against power tools and it rarely loses. I will use this until the blade breaks and then buy a new blade for it. This is a lifetime saw.

Sweet carpenters saw
This saw represents an excellent value. The high tool quality combined with amazing quality blades have made this saw the go to in my every day tool mix. The folding action makes it pocket-able in pants, tool belt, or tossed in a tool tote. The rubber handle is very nice and grippy the lockback is nicely designed. I just bought another one in a different color so I wont have to change types of blades. Oh yeah, and the tajima saw blades cut quality is excellent.

Overall good build quality, but blade is easy to bend if not careful
Build quality seems pretty good. Hinge works nicely (and tension is adjustable). I like that it has two cutting positions. My only complaint is that so far it has been pretty easy to bend the blade. Thankfully it has bent back almost factory straight the two times it has happened so far, but it does have me a little worried for the future.

Did you say sharp?
I was looking for a portable folding saw for camping duty. After looking in the local shops, I decided to look on-line. After pouring through many listings, I came upon this nice little saw. Made with carbon steel, this thing is so sharp! After years being a Boy Scout, and working with everything from lathes to tools in the watchmaking industry, I was surprised how good the Tajima was. The folding / locking mechanism works flawlessly, and the over-all quality is top rate. Made in Japan, not China, like most of the competition, this is a great, fast-cutting saw for collecting firewood, or any time you need a fast-cuting portable saw!

9TPI, 2.25" wide when closed, ~1 thick. NOT A TOY. Very scary sharp. MADE IN JAPAN
I bought a Tajima saw in the 80's for all sorts of reasons and used it to cut everything: branches, boards, plastic pipe and whatever else I needed it for. But that saw had a very thin nut at the pivot point and I couldn't e os,ver get a replacement. Fast forward to today, saw these after looking for a ARS saw blade on any foldin saw because they are great. Found this instead and decided to buy it. Glad I did, its worth twice the price and better than all the other junk you see out there. But, you need to know that the blade doesn't lock in the closed position- but it isn't going to open up in your pack, it takes effort to pull the blade out. In the closed position, NO teeth are exposed to catch on anything. There is a silly metal piece in the lanyard hole that has a lock position in the handle, It can't open 1/3 of an inch, but some of the teeth will be exposed, but I would have no fear of putting this in my pack for a trip. But, as I said, this isn't a toy, it weighs 9.8ozs. You might have to think twice about it, but for a piece of survival gear in the woods, only the spetz shovel comes close. The blade, the packaging say made in Japan for what its worth. And after all of this, I would recommend a 7 TPI blade if you are just going to use this to trim branches.

You get what you pay for
As the headline says, you truly get what you pay for. This folding saw is most certainly not "heavy duty" as its description indicates. I purchased it because it was suggested on another product page that it would be superior to a similarly sized Silky. Upon receive the saw today, I see that the blade is about HALF the thickness of a Silky saw blade. We shall see how it performs when the time comes.

Excellent saw for price.
Great little folding saw at the price point. Much cheaper than a Silky without too much of a cutting compromise.
