I write on the labels with a sharpie and the writing fades in a few weeks, so i don't know what i planted. what should i use to write on these?

don't worry, your sharpies aren't defective. i would just put a strip of clear tape over your labels, after u label them, hope that helps!

I have 2 1/2 in hole . in 3 in pvc pipe what size cup 2" or 3"?

Definitely 3" since the outside diameter of the 2-inch cup is 2.16" and that will fall right thru the 2.5" hole...

@sellers what plastic chemical / type is this made from? abs, pvc, hdpe, petg? etc etc all food container products are supposed to disclose this.

It's not a "food container"... it's a grow medium, just as is the rockwool I put in it and the bucket with clay pellets... No more a food container than dirt. Yet, we grow food in dirt too.

If I use the 2 inch pods what size pvc pipe is recommended?

I would say 3". I use 3" pods in 4" PVC pipes on my hydroponic tower. You want some space in between to fill with small lava stones
