This is the slimmest and shortest Micro USB 2.0 OTG adapter I could find and it works perfectly on my Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 which has a female Micro USB 3.0 slot. Note that since this is the 2.0 Micro-B connector, it should also work on the larger USB 3.0 slot (which is basically a 2.0 Micro-B female connector that extended with an optional Micro-A female connector). I already had a working USB 2.0 OTG adapter, but I didn't like the unnecessary 2-inch long cable on that one. I wanted something that felt more like USB dongle for my wireless non-bluetooth keyboard which came with a USB-A Micro dongle. So I bought this one. Of course, there is an even slimmer OTG adapter that fits directly on the underside of a USB-A male connector. But this wouldn't work on my Note Pro 12.2 because I had an Otterbox case installed. The opening space for the usb connection was therefore restricted. I had to actually modify the case and sand down the USB opening to allow some larger USB cables to fit. The smaller footprint OTG adapter was not an option for me because this type of adapter would only work if it could be inserted at the dead center of the opening. But the female USB 2.0 Micro-B is shifted to the right to make space for the Micro-A female connector on the left. So this adapter wouldn't fit unless I cut and sand down the Otterbox case to make a larger opening for the USB connection. I decided not to do that. I opted to get this larger adapter that I am reviewing here. This one fit perfectly on my tablet without any modifications to the case. I would also like to note that I bought other connectors that seemed to fit on my android device and allow me to physically connect USB peripherals, but they didn't work. In other words, I bought some adapters designed to convert USB connectors but NOT necessarily to function as OTG cables. So if you are looking for dongle-like USB OTG adapters, make sure they are accurately described as OTG adapters before you buy them. This one here is a legit dongle-like OTG adapter.

I bought this item for the Fire HD8 I have, thinking I could use it as a compact method for connecting any USB thumb drive to the Fire to view or listen to its contents. The fact is that the Fire has only one input possibility and that is the mini usb connection which is also the charging port, hence my purchase of this device. I have not actually been able to accomplish exactly what I wanted with this device, because it seems the Fire wants me to allow some outside website to access the content of my thumb drive,which I do not want to allow, wanting to keep ALL of my content within the confines of my Fire. Said problem is actually a problem (for me) with the Fire and not with this connector, which seems to work as advertised. Perhaps I will figure out how to accomplish my goal without compromising my data. Time will tell......

Promptly received and works fine

My first impression of this was 'useless'. I could not fit my USB connector in the slot, it appeared too small. I wondered if perhaps this only worked for USB 2 and somehow the USB 2 plugs were a hair narrower than the newer USB 3 slots? I threw it in a box instead of asking for a refund and forgot about it. I decided to revisit it, and tried again, and realized it was my error, I just didn't realize that the female USB plug opening was very tight. This makes total sense, since if you are plugging it into a phone, a loose connection would just fall out. It works! It is not long enough to completely bury an entire USB plug end. It is roughly 1/3 shorter than the USB male connector end. While this seems a drawback, I think it's a compromise, the entire unit is 1 1/2" long. To make one that fully buried the male connector, this would have to be 2" long. For a cellphone or tablet, that shorter size may matter for some people trying to save space (or why aren't they using a laptop). Besides, the plug seats very SNUGLY, unless you are pulling on it, it's going to stay connected. On the other hand, the micro USB end that you plug in is 'standard' size, so if your other plugs are loose, this will also be loose. The good news being that with the snugness on the other end, this should stay connected to whatever you have plugged into it, instead of falling out easily. I originally purchased this to use with my 'OnlyKey', which has a USB connector, and which I used for password saving. I mention this because it may help someone else with the same idea. It doesn't work. The big reason is the direction the OnlyKey faces when plugged in... the LED hits you in the eye, the buttons face back. This is also true with my Tablet, so likely the same direction for most phone/tablets. However, it does appear possible to use if you set up the OnlyKey properly, just not convenient. I think the best use for this may be for connecting a mouse or keyboard to a tablet without a USB port. But I'm glad I have it, it's one of those things you MIGHT need, and better to have on hand than to wish you had one and have to wait for the order to arrive.

I received the adapters promptly, but neither worked with either of two Raspberry Pi Zero W devices. I tried a USB Wi-Fi device, a USB Ethernet device, and USB Flash drive. I plugged into each Pi with the case on and with just the bare board to see if the case interfered.. In no instance was the device recognized - and none of the indicator LEDs in the devices (Wi-Fi connect, ethernet data, USB drive on) came on at all. The fit for the USB A/B device into the adapter was difficult, and I had to wiggle the first device significantly to get it into the adapter. The fit for the Micro USB (male) was tight but good.

Perfect for the purpose it states and I bought mine for using a V8 soundcard for live performance as I am a singer and I need to get going on some home studio and songwriting game! It was exactly as advertised, functioned properly, good pricing, same day Prime delivery, five-stars!

This is a true OTG Adapter. Pin 4 is connected to ground on the Micro USB end of the adapter. This adapter works well for flashing Thingino firmware into a home camera. This adapter will switch the electronics connected to the Micro USB end to Host mode.
