Do buy these. 10/10.
10/10. Highly recommend to anyone who has issues playing the Vita cause of the lack of grip. Very comfortable for anyone with giants hands like myself. Great grip and feel. Doesn't feel overly cheap even though it is all plastic. Sturdy. No plastic creaking. Amazing battery life. Easily over 20 hours or more of play time on a full charge. I've gotten as much as 30 hours of play time before the handles battery ran dry and it started to use the Vita battery. The handle batteries do take ages to charge but that is what gives you the incredible play time. Best charged overnight or while at work. I've seen other reviews complaining about the solder coming loose on the charging port from using the Vita while charging. This could be an issue. I have not encountered it in the year I've owned these, though as I do not play my Vita while charging it. I don't use anything electronic while charging it as it is bad for any device and the charge port. So like I said before, best charged while sleeping overnight or at work. It leaves all the ports on the Vita open but the game slot and the sd slot. If you remove your game or sd card often, it will get in the way but to release the handles, there is a simple lever on the bottom with an unlock/lock symbol. Just slide it unlocked, the bottom cradle with the mini usb slides down and the Vita is free. And every time I do this, the Vita feels small and fragile. The handles give it a feeling of girth and safety. Your thumbs will will tend to cover the speakers as you play anything that requires full use of the d-pad and buttons. The analog sticks leave the speakers clear though. Rear camera and touch pad left open as well. They work fine.

The grip is good but it no longer charges.
The Vita is so small, this grip makes it much easier to play and hold, and it has an extra battery built in that helps me play many more hours between charges.. It worked great for a few months. My Vita lasted so much longer, I rarely had to charge it. Then one day I plugged it in and heard a *click* and now it won't charge and the plug is all loose and wiggles. The grip still works great, but I can't charge it so it goes from 5 starts to 2 stars. I have yet to contact Nyko to see about a replacement but I will update this review when I do. EDIT: I emailed Nyko and they said to send it to them so they can check if it is broken and replace it if necessary. I don't like the idea of having to pay to ship it to them, but if it is replaced I guess it's a small price to pay. I will update as things progress.

Sweet Relief for my Banana-hands: Vita Slim Model
Only after purchasing the PS Vita-Slim did I realize that Sony's target market for the device was Asian Pygmy Monkeys and humans with hands of the equivalent scale. After two days of Borderlands, I was walking around like a T-Rex with carpal tunnel. I decided to purchase a grip. THE PDP GRIP: I purchased the PDP grip at my local game stop and quickly discovered that the target demographic had not changed, and it was indeed the perfect solution if you happened to be an Asian Pygmy Monkey with very large hands; Sadly, I am not. NYKO POWER GRIP: Ordered this the same day I purchased/returned the PDP grip, got it next day, and WOW, what a difference. PROS: This is a much better fit if you have larger hands. 1. The grips extend down past the bottom of the device placing the thumbs in a better position for the analog thumb sticks. 2. The grips remain rounded all the way up to the top of the device with a perfectly placed indention in the grip to support your index fingers when they are not in use mashing the bumper buttons. The PDP grip on the other hand was just two nubs at the base on the unit, and then it was flat to the back of the Vita all the way to the triggers providing no additional girth to grip with your fingers further up the device. 3. No Triggers: I thought this would be a con, but the shape of the grip puts your index fingers in good position to use the bumper buttons without trigger add-ons. This is far more responsive than the trigger mods on the PDP grip, as there was a fair amount of play in the trigger buttons, and you really had to mash them to get them to fire. 4. The built in battery pack: Wow, I was expecting this to be marginally functional, but I have to say, it really does double your battery life, and it drains the battery on the grip first, so your main Vita battery is used last. I've only been using it for a few days so I can't comment on its long term durability. 5. Vita Slim Redesign: I noticed that in the old model some people complained that the grip covered the memory slot and that there was some play in the fit. I was pleased to find that the fit on the Vita-slim is very snug, and the memory card slot is now accessible. CONS: Still not perfect 1. If you are expecting this grip to fit in your hand as comfortably as a console controller, you will be disappointed. The grip is excellent, but the real limitations come from the design and layout of the Vita itself. I love the Vita, but the button layout is awkward at best and painful at worst. The grip helps with this. 2. A little thicker grips would be nice, but again, that is going to be largely dependent on the size of the individual's hands, so they probably picked the best size for the majority of people (much like Sony probably chose the average size for the pygmy monkeys in their focus groups). 3. Don't care for the matte-finish. Not aesthetically, but functionally. It tends to slip in your hands slowly. A gloss plastic finish would have been more "grippy?" So that is my biggest complaint, better finish to keep the hands from slipping. Maybe some sticky rubber insets or something. OVER ALL: If you have Wreck-It-Ralph size hands, this will vastly improve your Vita experience.

Quality device, ok ergonomics, excellent battery life, underwhelming stickiness of material
Battery life is phenomenal, but the ergos didn't feel enough like the PS4 for me. That is, I find the PS4 controller more comfortable than most other controllers due to the shape of the hand rests. The ones on this grip, while much more comfortable than the stock Vita without any, are shaped quite differently and sort of curve inwards away from the hands at the bottom. That, coupled with the soft rubber material actually slipping in my hands, means a bit more gripping force is required to play than I'd prefer. If the grips simply didn't have that inward arch, I think they'd be absolutely perfect. I get the impression the shape serves to reduce the overall width, but small size is clearly not the goal of someone buying something like this. Nyko, please update the shape of this design making ergonomics a priority over size, and you'll have an absolutely perfect product. FWIW, I have small hands (adult size S gloves), so I imagine unless you have female or child sized hands, you'll have similar sentiments about the ergonomics (again, still more comfortable than not). The unit was totally worth the money, quality-wise and the mechanism for attaching the Vita is quite well done. With no other grips appearing to have better ergonomics presently, I do not regret the purchase.

Much Improved Gameplay
This thing is nothing short of a miracle in terms of improved playability of the Vita. Let me first say that I've only got a few hours of play under my belt, so I cannot comment on long-term durability, but I can certainly vouch for the immediate impact of the difference this thing makes in enjoying my gaming experience in general with the Vita. Here goes: First of all, I really don't care all that much about the extra battery power this provides. The Vita's battery life is really good, and I never find myself playing for more than an hour or two at a time. That said, it worked for me out of the box, and seems like a pretty nifty feature, especially on a long flight or on a road trip with the kiddies. Not a bad selling point. I got the Vita 2000 as a holiday gift to myself. After what seemed like 12 years of download time, I fired up Borderlands 2 and gave it a whirl; no grips or other whirlygigs attached, just a screen protector. I immediately became annoyed with the accidental throwing of grenades (right thumb occasionally contacts screen unintentionally) as well as the random melee attack of thin air (right middle finger incidentally contacting rear touchpad). I experimented with several different tweaks of holding the thing, and gradually got used to keeping my right thumb from contacting the front screen. My problem was that my right middle finger was at a bad angle in relation to the back of the screen, making it hard to use the rear touchpad when I wanted to, and also causing contact with it when I didn't want to. No matter how I held the Vita, I couldn't solve the problem. Let's face it, there's only so much you can do differently in terms of gripping the thing and still be in position to use all the buttons as intended. Enter the Nyko Power Grip. In short, I had no idea how uncomfortable it actually was to hold the naked Vita until I clipped on this bad boy. My gameplay experience was clearly and immediately improved. The grip is comfortable to hold, and your fingers naturally fall to the buttons they are intended to use. This is by far and away a better way to play on this machine, which I believe was designed for people with pygmy-monkey hands (borrowed that phrase from another reviewer of this grip who was quite entertaining. Shout out to you, cool guy, whoever you are). One thing I did notice was that, when attached, the grip very nearly covers the entire rear touchpad, Maybe 1/4" of it is still visible. Initially I found this frustrating, as I had a hard time getting that function to work. Then I figured out that you can adjust the sensitivity of the rear touchpad. Problem solved! Now I just feel for the edge of the grip with either my third or fourth fingers and I know exactly where the touchpad is. I'm sure this was unintentional on the part of the designers, but it works for me so I can't complain. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there having these problems, and though this device isn't perfect, it's a massive improvement.

Very comfortable.
First off, I may have misread the part about this grip having an extra battery to fuel the new vita-2000, BUT IT'S NO SKIN OFF OF MY BACK. This thing is awesome! Feels great in the hands without cramping up my fingers. The vita slim is a little harder to hold, so the assistance of this grip is fantastic. It feels just like a controller. Did I mention it has a battery built in?! You don't even have to charge the grip separately from the vita slim. It has it's own lockable usb micro port that plugs in perfectly to the bottom of the vita slim. Once locked, an extra micro usb port is provided on the exterior of the grip for easy charging. The Nyko prioritizes the charges to charge the vita slim first, THEN charges the battery in the grip. The instruction manual states ~3 to 5 charges in order to reach full capacity for the Nyko battery, but this is typical for new electronic devices. Cons: -The finish seems like the typical notorious "flat" finish that will eventually peel over time. Not anytime soon, but probably in about 1.5-3 years. -The triggers seem harder to get to, but this is also the case when the grip is off. I might just have small hands, so maybe you large-handers will have a better time. -The grip makes the vita slim feel quite a bit heftier. Being a powerful portable machine, I would have expected something easier to carry around with me. -The grip covers up the game slot. Need to remove the grip in order to access vita games. Overall: I ordered this grip to go along with my new vita slim borderlands 2 bundle and it is definitely a great accessory to add to the collection. Get one! I highly recommend it.

The grip itself is great for adult hands
The grip has potential, but also has a major defect. The grip itself is great for adult hands. The problem is in the micro usb connection. The male side of the connection connects fine with your PS Vita. The grip also includes two batteries located in each handle to extend your play time. The female usb side of the grip has a major issue. The only thing supporting it is the solder connecting it to the board. This causes the actual connector to break off with normal use, rendering the charging capability useless. A simple plastic wall in the mold of the grip would have given proper support. Since the PS vita is held in place by the male side, you can not charge the PS Vita while the grip is attached. I contacted Nyko to address my concern with the same pictures attached. They were not concerned. I will give them credit for responding politely though. A simple thing turned this product into a don't buy for me.

Nyko Power Grip for PSVita Slim
If you own a PS Vita Slim, this is something that you absolutely must buy! I love this Power Grip. Not only is this product sturdy, well made, and comfortable but it has an anti-slip matte black finish and the power bank aspect of it works flawlessly as well. This product has made it so I can play my games for a longer duration of time without my hands hurting and without having to plug my vita in. I will tell you, it does take some time to charge because it works in conjunction with your vita battery, basically as your vita battery starts to loose juice during operation the power grip charges it back up to full. I would purchase this product again even if it was just a grip, to me the battery bank is a bonus, that's how comfortable it is. I will tell you that once you place your vita into the grip, it locks securely in place and it never feels loose or like it is going to fall out. If I had one complaint, it would be that the Game Cartridge port is covered by the top of the grip, so in order to change games, you do have to take it out of the grip -- which honestly takes about 5 seconds and isn't a big deal to me personally.

Makes the PS Vita more confortable to use & extends battery power
My 12 year old son asked me for this as a Christmas present, he found it himself online. He has had a PS Vita for a while and loves it, but his hands get crampy and his thumbs get sore after a while when he is gaming on it. He looked around and found this grip mentioned by quite a few people as they said it makes the PS Vita much easier to hold and the joysticks easier to use. So I got him one for Christmas. On opening it he slotted his Vita into it and straight away said how much better it was to hold. The side handles on the grip go in the palm of your hands and this means your thumbs are in the right place to use the joysticks on each side. He told me he can use the joysticks much more accurately now and he doesn't get hand cramps or sore thumbs any more. An added advantage is that is extends the playable time as it has a rechargable battery inside which adds to the battery power in the Vita. It hasn't turned him into a gaming zombie - he still plays for a while then takes a break. But at least he hasn't got sore thumbs any more.

Grip

Awesome!
Great product! Provides comfortable grip for playing extended sessions on the VITA which was the main reason for my purchase. Also extends the battery life of the system by quite a bit very seamlessly. LED red and green color charging lights are a nice touch. Great quality of the product and would highly reccomend it to everyone!
