One of 101 titles in the St. Joseph Picture Book Series, this book by popular author Father Lovasik, S.V.D., provides children with simple overview of The Holy Rosary is a special prayer that helps us think about the important moments in the lives of Jesus and His mother, Mary. It’s like walking through a story of Jesus’s life with Mary by our side, showing us how much God loves us. When we pray the Rosary, we use a string of beads to keep track of our prayers, so we can focus on each part of the story without losing our place. The Rosary has five main parts called Mysteries , and each Mystery represents an important event. There are four groups of Mysteries: the Joyful , Sorrowful , Glorious , and Luminous Mysteries. Each one reminds us of something special, like when Jesus was born (the Joyful Mysteries) or when He rose from the dead (the Glorious Mysteries). We start the Rosary with the Sign of the Cross and the Apostles' Creed , then say the Our Father (a prayer Jesus taught us), ten Hail Mary’s (a prayer asking Mary to pray for us), and a Glory Be to praise God. This group of prayers is called a decade , and each Mystery has five decades. Praying the Rosary helps us feel close to Jesus and Mary. When we think about the Mysteries, we learn how Jesus lived, loved, suffered, and rose again, all to save us. Mary, who always said “yes” to God, teaches us how to be faithful, loving, and kind. The Rosary is powerful and calming, helping us to trust God and ask Mary to pray for us. Even though it may take time to learn, the Rosary is a beautiful way to grow closer to Jesus and Mary, making it a wonderful prayer to say anytime, especially with family. Specific topics covered in this title include: The story of the Holy Rosary and St. Dominic Our Lady of Lourdes The prayers of the Rosary The Joyful Mysteries The Sorrowful Mysteries The Glorious Mysteries Review: Exactly as advertised - Well made. Great for the grandkids Review: A lovely book - I think the best thing about this book is the illustrations, which are very nice and large, taking slightly more than half of each page. Each Mystery has a whole page to itself, with a child-appropriate meditation at the top. For example, "Mary, my Mother, I love you as I see you telling the angel that you are ready to become the Mother of God because this is the Will of the Heavenly Father. Thank Jesus for wanting to become a child for love of me. Make me humble and obedient that I may always please God as you did." The first few pages give the historical background of the Rosary, including Saint Dominic, Lourdes, and Fatima. All the prayers are included, from The Sign of the Cross to the Hail, Holy Queen and Let us Pray (said at the end). With the clear instructions and simple diagrams, it is very easy for anyone to understand how to pray the Rosary by following this book.

You are never too old for this book!
I was inspired by another reviewer who spoke of "the sweetness and purity of the mysteries" as presented in this book. I loved the vintage innocence of the Fatima illustration on the front and definitely felt a need for simple "sweetness and purity" as opposed to weighty, theological considerations (which have their place!). Although this book will definitely work well with children, I think it works equally well for tired, discouraged adults. If you are feeling disappointed, dirty, a little corrupted around the edges, go back to the beginning. Keep it simple and pure. Take your downhearted self to the Lord in prayer, as guided by the simplicity of this profound little book and remember, Jesus came to this earth via the Virgin, to save just such a wounded soul as yours.

A wonderful addition to my faith library.
A wonderful little book in excellent condition. Suitable for young children learning about the Rosary for the first time and for adults who need a refresher. I use this book in Sunday School classes and the children love the pictures and love to follow the prayers on their own rosary beads.

The Rosary
Here is a beautiful picture book for children. It is so pretty that it can delight even adults. It has made such a sweet way to learn the Rosary beads, never to be forgotten. From the cover to each page, the "old fashioned" illustration is charming. Certainly an attractive learning lesson, to be treasured. Thanks to St Joseph Picture Books!
