Most of the GoPro footage I take is from some sort of head mounted contraption. Unfortunately when I'm with my wife, she doesn't like me wearing the head strap because it looks too goofy. For the past year I've used a heavy duty GoPro clip to mount it to any one of my hats which has worked mostly well. The problem with that was that put all the weight of the camera at the end of the bill of the hat. This is where this hat excels. The stitched in mount provides the perfect solid point with excellent weight distribution. I hardly notice it's there. One of the questions I was asking myself when I bought this hat was, would it be able to handle my massive Limefuel extended battery without any additional bars or screws and would the hat stay on with that extra weight and extreme movement? The answer is yes. I was pleasantly surprised. I feel that this hat is a much better way to handle the weight of the larger battery. This is a huge selling point for me. Lastly, I typically I don't buy non fitted hats and this was another concern of mine at first. I have a larger head and sometimes have difficulty finding hats that fit properly. I'm glad to report that hat size appears to be spot on, I purchased a large, and it's a nice lightweight, airy design. I've also worn the hat most of the day without the GoPro. Even when not filming, it makes a comfortable and functional hat. The construction also appears to be of decent quality. I will track how this holds up over the long run as this will most likely become my new mount for hiking and geocaching. I normally wear a headband while filming with my action cameras and they were driving me nuts. The band would lose position easily especially riding on rough terrain or if my head would start to sweat. One time it will be too tight and start to ride up on one side, the other or both. No matter how I tried to adjust the straps on them it did very little good unless I was standing still and did not move my neck but instead my entire body to look around. I lost more footage due to poor camera positioning than I had that was usable. With this hat not only is it nice and snug on my head but the position of the camera on the rise of the hat and not on the bill balances it out. I would get so frustrated I almost gave up recording all together. I had even tried using the bill clamp in my camera kit on a normal hat and it worked like a fulcrum raising the rear of the standard hat up and even hurting my neck and popping off. The hat comes down pretty far on your head so it has a nice firm grip. The materials seem to be very strong I have had no issues with that and it is not too dense so your head does not get super hot. This was a great investment for me.
