No. It is simply a small device that has on/off switch. Works great and is very loud.

I will be traveling with my husband who has early onset Alzheimer’s. Would this be good to use for the hotel? Does it leave a mark when removing?

They work good. Ive used them when traveling. They dont leave hardly a y noticible residue. If they do. A warm wet cloth will wipe it right up. Have to get some type of extra velcro or double sided tape. Becareful what type you buy as an alternate ahdesive or tape may leave more residue

Can this be operated remotely ?

No. It has to be turned off manually, or it will turn off when the battery goes down.I had to manually turn it off. You have to be home to turn this item off. I returned this item because it can do damage to your ear drums. I will say I was given no problem with returning the item. I ordered the Bunker Hill Wireless system, and it works for me.
