Must have for cat owners and for avid puzzlers
This is my second puzzle storage. I have cats and I can't leave puzzles out on the table (obviously) and sometimes it takes me awhile to finish a puzzle. This storage is also excellent for people who want to work on several puzzles at the same time. There is a tray that holds the puzzle and you can turn it so you can work on parts right under your nose. Separate trays hold various puzzle pieces, for me usually sorted by color or number of feet. Fits the common puzzle size for 1000 pieces. Fold it shut and you can store the puzzle without losing puzzle pieces. Recommended.

Great quality and price
Love this! Works great! The sections to store puzzle pieces and the way the mat hugs the puzzle when you want to store it are great!

FINALLY! Something that works!
After looking at the varied reviews I was skeptical on this - especially the high price, but thanks to a recent Amazon Promo deal discount, I decided to try it anyway, since I've been looking for something like this for years. Roll mats never worked well. I AM SO SUPER HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT! It arrived on Wednesday, I started the puzzle I had also ordered with it that night out of excitement to see how it worked, and finished that 1000 pc puzzle Thursday night. This case made putting it together, putting it away unfinished and storing it super easy. The sorting compartment made it quicker actually as i could see so many pieces at once and they stayed in their individual compartments. even after storing it upright, the pieces didn't flip (don't shake it up!) or slide to another compartment. The in-progress puzzle stayed in place, no pieces fell out - but you have to make sure the case is closed All the way around! Just press around the edges until it snaps, and it's closed. Easy. It's about an inch or so thick and really easy to store anywhere, which is a major plus as I have a small place with little storage. Now, the whole case is large when fully opened, but I was able to keep the puzzle board on my lap while on the sofa, and the case was right next to me with the cover up like a book. To get to the other sides, I just turned it around and let the cover hang down, so it works for me - I finally have my dining room table back! I didn't take it anywhere, but I'm sure transporting won't be a problem, even if the pieces flip over, they are still sorted, and you can always put in tissue or something in those place to keep the piece flat (not a major concern for me). It fits 20x27 puzzle, perfectly (typical size for 1000 pieces). Another plus - this case made it easy to make my puzzle a permanent piece of art, using the Presto Press and Seal Adhesive sheets (so much easier and less messy than glue). Once the puzzle was done, I closed the case, turned it over so the puzzle was faced down, applied the sheets to the back, and closed the case overnight to make sure everything stuck. It wasn't even 5 minutes. Now it's ready for framing! I haven't seen anything like this and I've been doing puzzles my whole life, but stopped a few years because of a lack of room to do it! I am so happy to get back to this, so I have to thank Amazon for those one-day deals or I would not have purchased it, as I thought the price was high at $79. For other searchers out there, I have seen a similar product retailing for $80 and up, but this is way better. I would definitely recommend this for any puzzle fans. Overall, A+.+ + +

Perfect While House Sitting and Keeping Puzzles Away from Cats
Decided to work on some puzzles on an extended house sitting trip. I picked up this puzzle storage as it was on the lower end expense wise. Other selling points were the hard plastic insides, not flexible and the handle. The storage box also includes molded plastic puzzle sorters. Pros: I love the size and weight. When empty it's not hard to carry around. The outside seems like is laminated. Not just unprotected cardboard. Perhaps it is plastic. It snaps shut relatively easily. It doesn't close with velcro or a zipper. For my needs I was ok with that. On the inside there is one side to place the loose piece of black sturdy cardboard. This is where you work on your puzzle. On the other side, when opened, there are molded puzzle sorters. These are unmovable. I like that while the cardboard working area nestles securely in its place while working on the puzzle, I can lift it and shift it or spin it completely around without moving the entire opened case. Cons: The sorters. They are useless for me. Even if I worked on a large table, I would hate having to move the entire case around to use the sorter. I suppose you can remove the cardboard, place it on the table and set the sorter side next to you. I prefer, however, to keep the puzzle board safe and sound in the case. Never know when I might jostle it. I purchased White Mountain Puzzles Puzzle Sorter and Mystery Puzzle for under $20.00 to use as my sorters. Using the two items makes puzzles very enjoyable to work on. Pay attention to the size of the cardboard. This won't handle large puzzles.

A great jigsaw puzzle accessory!
This puzzle container is pretty great. The mat inside of it makes a great surface on which to construct the puzzle, while the bins inside the case help to keep pieces sorted when packing the puzzle away. While the container is pretty handy when working on the puzzle, and it makes it easier to keep your work when putting it away, I think the greatest benefit is that it reduces the chance of losing pieces. Anyone who's worked on a few large jigsaw puzzles probably knows the pain of completing puzzle only to realize a piece is missing. With a nice way to organize and store the puzzle, I find pieces don't tend to get lost nearly as much. It's great!

Not what I expected
I was really excited when my Puzzle Storage for Upto 1000 Pieces arrived. I've recently gotten back into jigsaw puzzles, and with only limited space with which to work in, I was desperate to find something that would allow me to work on my puzzles, and store them safely out of the way the rest of the time. The Puzzle Storage for Upto 1000 Pieces fails in many areas. Firstly, you need a huge area in which to lay this thing out properly --- it did not fit at all on our small(ish) dining table. The reason is that when open, one side of the case serves as the area to work on the puzzle, whilst the other side serves as a "sorting" area with separate compartments for the puzzle pieces. Great idea, sure, but not at all practical for a small dining table. You need an area of about 44 x 30 inches in which to set this thing our properly. Unfortunately, that's not the only problem. The board itself has a surface that is extremely slippy. I can imagine it would be difficult to pick up individual pieces from such a surface, and the jigsaw puzzle itself would slide around very easily. There are no raised edges to this board, so a lot of care would need to be taken not to cause the entire puzzle to go sliding onto the floor. The case itself did not seem a very practical means of transporting or storing a jigsaw puzzle. Unless you can keep it completely flat, an uncompleted jigsaw puzzle is going to fall apart as soon as you attempt to carry it by the carry handles. It seems strange to me that the case was even designed to be carried this way due to a puzzle clearly not being likely to stay together when moved in this position. Also, I dread to think what would happen to all those jigsaw pieces that you would have spent time sorting into the separate compartments. There's no lid or anything to hold them securely in their compartments, and in order to close the case --- how is anyone meant to do this with the compartments full of jigsaw pieces? Lowering the "lid" would cause all of the pieces to fall out of the compartments. Therefore, this is hardly a practical transport or storage solution as you'd still need to find somewhere to keep your puzzle pieces (or have them just fall all over the place inside the case). I was not happy with this product at all, and am returning it immediately back to Amazon. Although it's a lot more expensive, I am now looking into buying a "Jigsort" --- this looks far more practical and efficient. I hope it will suit my needs better than the Puzzle Storage for Upto 1000 Pieces did.

Really Works
I recently started doing puzzles again and realized that I had no surface to leave an in progress puzzle out on. I purchased this product in the hope that it would do what it claims to do. The other reviewers were right, it really works! It is simple to figure out and the puzzles have stayed in place just as promised. You can also store loose puzzle pieces in this unit, but I haven't done so yet. Since I work on smaller puzzles, I can store more than one completed puzzle in it while working on a new one. I would highly recommend this product.

This one is the best so far
I've tried other products that purport to allow you to store unsolved puzzles. This one is the best so far. Rolling mats seem like a good idea - keep the puzzle together by rolling into a cylinder. But they don't work because they force the puzzle from its natural flat surface. This product accepts that a stored puzzle must be flat. It has another nice feature - it contains trays for separating your pieces. So why do I give it three stars? Because its main defect becomes obvious the very first time you try to use it. Let me explain. The product achieves its full functions by having three flat surfaces: 1. A thin, but strong, cardboard board where the unfinished puzzle rests. Call it "surface 1" 2. A shallow compartments area where the trays for separating the pieces is embedded. Surface 1 lies tightly against it and prevents the pieces from re-mixing. Nice design choice. Call the trays area "surface 2". 3. Surface 3 is the lid that tightly fits over surface 1 to prevent the unfinished puzzle from breaking up when in storage. Again, nice design, the lid acts as advertised. I put a completed puzzle, closed the lid, shook it around, and it worked. The main problem with this product comes about during the times that you are solving the puzzle. To continue solving the puzzle you only need surface 1 and surface 2. Surface 3 is not needed while you are solving the puzzle. There are two things you can do to get rid of surface three while you are solving the puzzle: tuck the surface 3 under surface 2 by bending the hinge connecting them back. Surface 2 then lies on top of surface 3 while you are solving the puzzle and you can then put surface 1 next to these two so you have a letterbox format for your puzzle solving. Unfortunately, you cannot do that with this product. If you try do that, the binding spine between surface 2 and surface 3 locks. So the only thing you can do with this product is to lay surface 3 above surface 2 so you end up with a letterbox envelope for working on your puzzle. Can the reader appreciate how weird that is? Would you rather work on a puzzle where the unplaced pieces were put to the side of the puzzle or would you rather have the pieces above or below? In the envelope format you have to get up from your chair to reach across the top of the puzzle for unplaced pieces. I'm confident on my maker skills to cut the binding and put back a flexible hinge at the bottom to allow the side by side placement, but it seems that just a little bit of more thought and engineering could have made this product a very good solution to the problem of storing unfinished puzzles. For example, if you put the hinge on the side, you could save on material and allow the more natural letterbox format. Not a perfect solution since you would be forcing the user to have the puzzle at the right or left all the time. Tucking it under would allow the user to use their preference.

Great product
Great product! At first I found it quite awkward as so large, but now I am really liking it. So easy to protect your puzzle & put it away when not working on it. The trays allow you to spread out a lot of pieces for easy access. Holds puzzle together - but loose pieces on the board will slide sometimes when stored standing up, but not an issue. Many 1000 piece puzzles will fit, but be sure to check measurements of your puzzle first as some 1000 piece puzzles are a wee bit too large. The design could bee improved by adding a small lip to the board itself & it could be a little larger to accommodate the 30 inch wide puzzles. It is a little expensive however I feel I will get years of enjoyment from it.
