Purple seat cushion pushes all the proverbial buttons
I ordered this seat cushion and got it yesterday. I drove with it today, and here is my review. First, it's the right size for a Ford Bronco. If you've driven in a Bronco, you know that their seats are somewhat comfortable for shorter drives, but sometimes a little hard. But long trips can be hard. I did buy a different cushion in the store on said long trip, and passed on the purple cushion (not ultimate) due to it being twice the cost. However, the shortcomings of that cushion was it was too small. I then got another cushion on amazon. It's a lot better and bigger (width wise) cushion on amazon. The quality is pretty good, but again, it was too small for the Bronco seat, and it came up short under my legs and sides. Though, I like the feel on my behind. I can even sit on my wallet which is big and bulky, and not feel it. I finally measured my seat (got the tape ruler out), and found that the ultimate purple looks like it may fit. The purple cushion is the right size width. It's wide enough for my seat so that my body isn't spilling over the sides, and it comes up under my knee right where the calf turns down. It's the same thickness as the amazon bought cushion, but since it fits better on the seat, it seems taller (maybe it is?). Anyways, I almost feel like it's too tall, but I can't argue with the cushiony feel on my behind. Wish list for purple: 1. offer straps to secure to the car seat. It's heavy enough to almost not shift, but it does shift a little when getting out of the car. This is a small annoyance. My other two cushions are annoyances. 2. Maybe taper the front a little bit. Make it more of a wedge. Maybe if I got this wish, it might not work out. I think it's worth trying, though. 3. Get rid of the spine cut-out. I fee like I'm being pushed down on the rear, and the front of my legs lifted up. Kinda exaggerating a little, but just a little. As mentioned before, although it's 2" in height, it feels like it's taller than the other 2" cushion that I got prior. I'm not sure if it's really taller, or maybe because it fits to my knee, maybe that's what's making it taller? Also, it seems with the added height, that I had to adjust the mirrors to the height. It also makes looking at the street traffic lights a little bit more challenging. Would I go back to other seat cushions? Or use no cushion at all? Not on your life! Even with these "flaws", it's the best seat cushion that I've been able to find (so far). If I could have just one thing, it would be to get rid of the cut-out for the spine. I don't think it's needed. update: loving this seat cushion. I turned the seat cushion around so that the spine cut-out is now in the front. I think it fits a little better in the Bronco seat, and my behind is a lot happier. The spine cut-out is between my legs now, so it's not really an issue anymore. Maybe a leg might drift into that area fit better? I dunno. I feel like that's the "taper" I was hoping for, kinda.

It's worth the price and that's saying a lot!
At $127 on sale, I really wanted this cushion to not live up to the hype...but, dammit, it exceeded the requirements I set in my head to be worth keeping. I've owned many, many seat cushions in the past decade since hurting my back. If I were to add them all up, I've easily spent more than $200. I've tried many formed memory foam with the coccyx cutout and a few honeycombed gel cushions that are pretty much imitations of the Purple Double. They've all helped, but they've also had some things lacking. The honeycombed gel pads all bottomed out, while providing some relief, and that bottoming out caused pain after a few hours of sitting. This Purple Ultimate relieves all of the pressure and it feels like I'm floating on a very comfy and resilient cushion. It is thick and heavy, being made from the same blow molded polyeurethane as the Purple mattress, in three layers with different supportive design laters. So, being made from the same stuff as the mattresses, this is a heavy cushion. Carrying it on an airplane would be a chore. Also, it is very wide; the widest cushion I've ever owned. These sound like I'm building to a negative review but I'm not. Its totally worth the hassle. I highly suggest ordering one to try it out for yourself. Its a game changer. That being said, I also ordered the Purple Double. That isn't worth the expense. It is made out of the same gel as the much cheaper $25 gel honeycomb cushions and it feels exactly like them. It is NOT worth the $111. That one will be getting returned. UPDATE 4/20/2026: This cushion had lost no cushioning or form. It has not degraded in any way. It is my goto cushion. It's usually in my car, but I move it around if I I'm going to sit in my office chair fir a long time, whenever I have to sit on a hard plastic or folding chair, sometimes on my recliner if I'm experiencing bad back pain. If it wasn't so expensive I'd have multiple ultimate purple cushions all over the place. I'm now faced with a dilemma. I'm going to Japan soon. That's a 16 hour flight. I've lost 2 cushions while traveling in the past. I don't want to lose this one, but my second best cushion would leave me laid up in bed in the hotel, unable to enjoy my vacation for the first 2-5 days I'm there. So, I'm going to take the ultimate Purple cushion , and I think I'll tie a paracord between the cushions handle and my backpack handle. That'll solve the problem on the plane. I'll have to figure out some way of not losing it in taxis, trains, hotel luggage storage areas, etc. If I lose it, I will definitely buy another, but I'll have myself for losing such an expensive cushion. It is just that effective.

Works great for lower abcess pain
I picked up this Purple seat cushion during a rough time dealing with a painful abscess that made sitting almost unbearable. It has been incredibly helpful. The grid design and the soft yet firm material distributes pressure so I'm not constantly shifting or wincing in pain. It stays cool even during long periods at my desk, which is a big plus. I've been using it daily for weeks now and it still looks and feels brand new. If you're struggling with an abscess, or any sitting discomfort, this cushion makes a real difference. It's worth every penny and I highly recommend it. I know the price it pretty bag, but the support seems to be great for returns.

Worth buying the real thing, very pleased with the quality and comfort
I don't spend money just for the sake of spending money, but I think this is one of the products that's worth buying the name brand. Several months ago, I tried a knockoff of the same type of cushion (grid, etc.) that was about 1/3 of the cost and the entire month I had it I was debating whether or not it made enough of a difference to justify keeping (I returned it). With this one from Purple, as soon as I sat on it the first time, I knew I'd keep it and still feel the same way about it after using it a while. I deducted half a star because I think it's somewhat overpriced, even with buying it on sale. I deducted another half star because it doesn't stay in place quite as well as I would like, especially considering the price. It stays in place moderately well, and it would probably do a bit better on some chairs than the one I have, though I can imagine it doing worse on some other chairs too, but I still have to slightly reposition the cushion every time I sit down if I need or want it to be in the "right" place. I've now been using this cushion for a month - long enough to feel qualified to say it has significantly improved my ability to sit and work at my computer for extended periods, but I haven't owned it long enough to offer insight into the longevity. It feels like it'll last a while, but only time will tell. I've also been using the cushion exclusively at my desk, but when I'm able to get back out on the road for some long trips in my van, I'm looking forward to using it there too. If it was cheaper, I'd probably buy a second one to keep one in the van and one at my desk. With my specific issues, on a good day, I used to be able to sit at my computer for up to maybe two or three hours total before the pain would be bad enough that I had to be done for the day, but with using this cushion I can go about three times as long. Sitting at my desk for sometimes several hours at a time, I don't know how to gauge the cooling effect, but I certainly don't get a hot butt. I had considered the next step down from this model, the "Office Chair Upgrade", but based on my experience with the other cushion I tried, I knew I wanted one that was big enough to cover the entire seat of my chair and that first one wasn't big enough. When I got the that one, I didn't think it would make as much of a difference as it does for me to have the cushion cover the full seat. The "Ultimate" is big enough to cover the seat side to side on my office chair and only falls a little short at the front edge, which is fine for me. Since my chair has a contoured seat already, I might have preferred a completely flat cushion, but not at the expense of size. For those who haven't tried cushions like this before, it's worth mentioning how it's going to affect the seat height and how that extra height could end up being positive, neutral, or negative. When I tried the knockoff, I wasn't thinking about how much it would change the seat height and it was a little surprising. But, I'm also a bit of a stickler when it comes to ergonomics, especially with some of the physical issues I have. Someone who doesn't need things to be as dialed in will be less affected. At my desk, I think the added height is an overall slight net positive: I'm tall enough to compensate for the cushion by adjusting my seat height without bottoming it out and since the armrests on my chair aren't adjustable, it slightly improves that for me so I'm using better posture and arm position for typing. For someone shorter, it could be the case they'd need to plan on a footrest or something to maintain proper ergonomics. In my van, though I haven't used it there yet, I expect it's going to be a solid positive because, while I'm tall enough that I'm not bottoming out my office chair even after adjusting it to compensate for the cushion, I'm short enough that the seat in my van (Ford E350) isn't comfortable for me for long trips since it isn't adjustable. This will give me the extra seat height there that I want there.

100,000 miles still like new
This cushion is an absolute lifesaver for truck drivers like me. It’s incredibly comfortable and well worth the high price tag, especially considering the long hours we spend sitting on bumpy roads across the country. The mesh design allows for excellent airflow especially for ventilated seats, keeping you cool and comfortable. I’ve used it for over a hundred thousand miles now, and it still holds up as good as the day I bought it. I even purchased a second one for my copilot, who rides and plays video games while I drive. She’s found it greatly reduces her back pain as well. I highly recommend this product to anyone who spends a lot of time sitting.

It's not bad...
It's not bad, but that doesn't mean it's good either. Hopes that were perhaps too high, coupled with a price tag that is most assuredly too high (and an equally ridiculous restocking fee on returns), equals a cushion that I will ultimately keep but will forever wish was better. I've used this cushion everyday for over a month now, and here are my observations PRO: Yes, it provides good support while relieving pressure. My tailbone is typically now hurting less after being in my desk chair >6 hours. However, unfortunately, I think the benefit ends here for me CONs: -The pressure relief comes at a price. The actual skin on my backside and back of thighs gets very sore and sensitive from the honeycomb-ish pattern. So much so that even a month later, I still have to take occasional breaks from the cushion (in spite of my usual breaks from sitting). -The manufacturer who advertise "cool comfort" must be living in perhaps an oven if they think this cushion is any cooler than any other cushion I've tried. This cushion be over here keepin' it swassy like all the others! -The "no-slip design" would perhaps be no-slip if it were on a chair made of glue. Or maybe a shag carpet. Or in an alternate reality. But if you put it on a chair, the little bumps on the bottom of the cover seem only to help it to slip even more than one would expect. Like, I literally have to adjust it about every hour or so because it...just...slips...all...the...time -It's huge. I'm well aware there are measurements provided in the description. But however many times you measured, and however big you are expecting it to be in your mind...it's bigger than that. Good luck fitting it on your chair of choice. A couple of side thoughts based on some even more negative reviews I read: the indentation on one half of the cushion is a "feature" not a defect - it's supposed to be there to give your tailbone even greater relief from pressure. Not sure how one user had the cushion for an entire year and never noticed it, then thought it had compressed under their weight. Secondly, the user who posted a picture saying the cover didn't fit clearly tried to put the cushion into the cover sideways lol. If you follow the super easy instructions that come with the cushion, it fits in rather perfectly.

Best solution I've found so far
Some history first is needed, I have a herniated disc on lower back, hurts into my tailbone Sore lower back, sore behind, I even sit on a leather recliner, still didn't help A year ago bought an oval donut to try, put an ice pact inside the middle, relieved the pain, was ok Except the ice packs did damage to my skin on my seating area, red, itchy, miserable. Quit using ice packs, but oval donut by itself was too uncomfortable, causing me to look at other solutions I come across the purple seat, I decided on the large size, fits perfectly on my leather recliner First 3 days, my behind was already so sore, back as well. It came in 2 days, ty amazon I didn't enjoy sitting on this seat because of the honeycombed style, never sat on anything like this, but after sitting the first day, I noticed little pain in my back area, and lessened pain in my bottom area, so decoded to give it a week to see Plan was if I didn't like it I'd send it back, and try another seat, or use it along with another seat to alternate days using different products to find one that works and I enjoy sitting on it After 3 days it seemed to loosen up, or I got used to it, or both, but my butt improved everyday, and my back pain lessened a lot. It does not get hot like a regular seat. But not cool either, I missed having some coolness so I did this. I put a towel on my chair, a large flat ice pack on the towel, and the purple seat on top off all of it. In about 10 minutes I feel some coolness, not enough to damage area like my other seating system, but feels so much better for me. I cant say if it's for everybody, but works fantastic to me, and seems well made, so I expect it to last, the ice packs I used are made with heavy material, blue strong covers, cost 11 bucks at a famous retailer. And I'm now set, and much happier, As with any new material you sit on, I'd say give it 3 days, my behind was so sore I thought I could never be happy sitting on gel honeycombs, but everyday I improved and got used to sitting on this, I still don't love sitting on honeycombs but it the best relieve for my soreness I've ever had. Now I can't imagine life without it, saved me from buying a new chair, wife and I are saving money for updating our home, or I'd try a few more seating with cooling gel and memory foam, just to see if there's a better option out there, and one day I will, but till then the royal purple helps greatly and is my saving grace, hope this helps. Remember other reviewers claim to send it back you pay shipping and restocking fee, so there's a price to pay to try it, so if you do at least give it 3 to 5 days because if I sent it back after the first day, idk where I'd be right now, I was so miserable. Glad I gave it a chance, love it, but it's not perfect, ty and gl Update, had this nearly a month now, used to it, have no problems sitting on a gel honeycomb now, still put an ice pack underneath the cushion, I will not be looking any further for a solution, I found it. Be careful of one thing is I have found I reclind my recliner all the way back to take a nap woke up an hour and a half later and my butt was sore as heck so sit upright using this on a full recline when I'm taking a nap I have to remove the cushion. You can lay back some now but my leather recliner goes back a long way and I think it spread my butt cheeks and made everything hurt so I can recline about halfway and I'm OK with the cushion, full recline I remove the cushion and I put it back when I sit upright again, I hope I explained well thank you and good luck

Fantastic for Recliner!!
Okay, sorry this is so long, but I'm going to compare the Ultimate to the Purple Royal, RoHo, and Purap for a recliner and computer chairs. I hope it will save someone from having to buy a bunch of different cushions for trial and error. I bought the above cushions for my leather Lazyboy recliner because the seat cushioning has flattened over the years, but the recliner itself is still great. The Purple Ultimate is THE ABSOLUTE BOSS in a recliner. I sometimes do embarassingly long movie marathons on my days off, and can legit sit for 12+ hours with the Ultimate cushion. I have tried both an air filled RoHo and a Purap cushion in the recliner. Neither came close to the Ultimate. The Royal would probably work in the recliner, but I haven't bothered to try it because the Ultimate is just that good. My Purap was passably comfortable for about 8 hours in the recliner, but got destroyed because it couldn't hold up to the punishment of extended couch surfing sessions. I fear the same is probably true of the RoHo. The Ultimate cushion is amazing for this purpose. Now let's talk computer chairs. I have lumbar, tailbone, and restless leg issues when I sit too long without the proper "cushioning" or alignment, so I use a Humanscale Freedom computer chair. Now keep in mind that the Freedom chair is highly ergonomic, which might make cushions act a little differently because it forces you to sit upright and aligned over the top of your hips (it's way more comfy than it sounds). This chair has a comfortable, but "hard" seat that slopes in the front where your thighs sit. I am also talking about extended sitting with only getting up to go to the restroom (e.g., extended computer gaming session). The RoHo cushion absolutely slays all other competition in a hard seat computer chair. I have been able to work all-nighters on the RoHo without any significant discomfort. The Purap was okay in my computer chair for about 4 hours (but would probably be fantastic in a wheelchair or softer computer chair). The Purple Ultimate was okay for about 5 hours, then the restless legs kicked in...I think it's because there is no downward sloped edge where your thighs sit. My lumbar still felt great though, so I guess it depends on what symptoms you're trying to minimize. The Purple Royal is definitely the 2nd best for my computer chair, but restless leg starts to kick in at about 7 or 8 hours. So, if you are looking to cushion a seat that doesn't have much give, go with a RoHo air filled cushion if you sit for very long periods and your chair forces you to sit upright/have decent posture. Go with the Purple Royal if you have a hard seat and sit for very long periods but do lots of stand up breaks OR sit for medium-long periods without breaks and sit with upright posture. The Royal would probably also work in a hard chair if you sit for very long periods, but with more slumped or relaxed posture (e.g., aren't sitting right over your hips). If you will be sitting in a "soft" chair, the Purple Ultimate is hands down the winner, no matter how you sit. For long periods in a vehicle, I think the same rules above would apply, but tbh, I haven't actually tried, so am just imagining based off my experiences. I hope this helps! :)

Extreme Comfort.
Very comfortable, quality design, can sit for hours with this and no back pain. No S.W.A.S. I use it on top of a subwoofer for a nice spot to sit and play my guitar, it prevents my legs/glutes from going numb even after hours.

Extremely Happy
I've had long-term sit bone pain along with back pain. I tried a lot of seat cushions, but none gave me satisfactory relief. Finally, I found the Purple Ultimate Seat Cushion and decided to give it a try. As soon as I put it on my office chair, I felt relief right away. It's an amazing product! I can sit on it all day without any butt pain. There are no pressure points on my bottom, and it really distributes the pressure, alleviating my chronic sit bone pain. Even though my ErgoTune Supreme Ergonomic office chair provides great back support, its seat is a bit hard. This cushion has really helped relieve my sit bone pain. I'm extremely happy with my new Purple Ultimate Seat Cushion—it's the best seat cushion I've ever used.
