I will admit I was a little put off by the size of this product. The picture makes it look much smaller than it really is. However, let me start by saying that we used to be one of those families with the little hand held sharpener, or maybe we would from time to time find ourselves with a battery powered one. Our children (8 and 5) have just come into both being prolific artists and schedulers. Now that we've moved passed crayons we find lists and stories, sketches and doodles all in their new favorite pencil. With the shear volume of content these two kids have started to create we could not keep up with small sharpeners. Pencils would be dull, broken or nubs. The kids would sharpen them until they were either 1 inch long or their fingers hurt. We'd often see just one side of the pencil sharp while the other remained protected by wood. And the shavings... Don't allow me to start on the fact that though our two children understand the concept of sharpening your pencil over the trash can, they can never truly accomplish the dream. We would find shavings all over our floor, and when we had sharpeners with shaving tanks, they would inevitably come loose or come off when dropped, spilling shavings around our kitchen. At one point I was forced to just sharpen pencils with my razor cutter to just get a good point... NO MORE!! The Stanley Bostitch QuietSharp6 is a miracle worker. It sharpens pencils to a Katniss Everdeen razor arrow head tip every time! The shavings tank is HUGE and slides out, so as not to be dropped. The unit has suction cups on its base to keep it from moving while the kids press their pencils into it and you would think that the sound of all this grinding would be like the floor of some early 19th century industrialists mill factory, but instead it is quiet and quick. Before you are even remotely upset with the sound of its high power motor, it's done! The best part, is that it doesn't over sharpen, so the kids can not nub pencils in seconds like they used to. I would highly recommend this unit if you have a child (or more) that produces lists, sketches, stories and doodles at a rate that would make the NY Times jealous.. Once you have this unit you'll never understand how or why you did things the "other way".. I love this unit and FYI, it does colored pencils just as easily! Give someone in your life the power of use pencils again by sharpening pencils quickly and easily and not spending their time whittling like a wood carver, or twisting like they have a 33 inch screw that needs to go into a 40 inch piece of wood by hand..

This thing can sharpen a Prismacolor in abou .6 seconds! It's a bit larger than I was expecting, but that's not a problem.

I needed an electric pencil sharpener that could sharpen fat kindergarten pencils. I have a hand crank one from classroom friendly supplies which is awesome but not when I need 100+ pencils to sharpen. So this sharpener is bigger than I thought which is ok. I started to sharpen my pencils but they didn’t go in easily. I had to shove them in. There is a tab that has to be pushed down for the pencil to go in all the way. It felt like I was going to break this thing that’s how hard I was shoving. Well it’s because the pencils are new. It’s not a problem to sharpen dull pencils because they are shaped to push the tab in gradually. I couldn’t get a picture to show you. So I ended up starting my fat pencils in the crank sharpener just to get them angled and finishing in the electric sharpener- that made it much easier to insert. Anyway I needed to dump the shavings. Now it looks like the drawer is huge but alas it is not. When I pulled it out a lot of shavings fell out. The back of the drawer is shorter than the front so shavings will always fall out as the drawer is pulled out. And the suction is so good I had to pull it pretty hard so shavings got everywhere. So now I know and you know too. Minus 1 star for the mess. I ended up sharpening about 132 big fat pencils fairly quickly so I would recommend since it didn’t take 3days with the hand crank.

Just what I was looking for.

I have a lot of odd pencils from various brands. I have been struggling with manual sharpeners. I decided to give the Bostitch a try. It was larger than I imagined. It still fits nicely on my small desk. It sharpens everything I have put near it quickly and like a boss! I have used a lot of sharpeners in schools and elsewhere but this one was the best sharpener I have ever used! I immediately had to write a review for a product that does what it is supposed to do! If we are just talking about sharpening pencils-this is life changing! I feel spoiled and lucky to have a sharpener that can sharpen so many types of pencil so quickly and quietly! My college age son said he had teachers with similar models. I could see a whole line of kids sharpening their pencils quickly. This made me silly. I told my son i love this pencil sharpener so much that I have to wonder where it's been my whole life! LOVE IT! I am so glad I decided to splurge on an electric sharpener, specifically this ONE! It was a great deal. I was originally going to buy just a quality manual sharpener to replace one I lost. I would trust this Bostitch sharpener around my best pencils. I wish every product could be of this quality! I am laughing because I never knew I could be this happy over a pencil sharpener!

This pencil sharpener works great! Very easy to use, just plug it in, pop the pencil in and it goes to work. We have been using it daily for over a month and have not had any issues with it at all. The shavings container is huge and holds a lot of shavings, so we haven’t even had to clean it out yet! So far, this pencil sharpener seems much more durable than any of the ones we have used in the past. It is also quieter than your average pencil sharpener…but it does still have a motor, so it does still make noise, it is not silent. This was a great investment for my 5th grade classroom.

Ours stopped working suddenly after 21 months of moderate use. Note that there is a safety switch inside with a plastic part that can melt. That's what happened to ours. That problem can be fixed in about 5-10 minutes using a small Philips and a small regular screwdriver. While you have the switch open, also make sure the switch contacts are bright and shiny on both sides. Gently scrape off any deposits with a small flat screwdriver or other appropriate tool. Otherwise, this works well -- it sharpens pencils quickly.

Es justo lo que necesitaba con las clases en línea de mi hijo, voy enumerar algunas características: 1) No desgasta de mas los lápices al sacar punta, tiene su auto-stop. 2) Es un sacapuntas silencioso para su tamaño. 3) Es compatible con muchos grosores de lápices (hexagonal, circular, triangular estándar, triangular preescolar y los colores de dibujo los mas delgados). tiene 6 entradas diferentes 4) Tiene ventosas en la parte de abajo para que no se mueva (con buen agarre x cierto) 5) Si es un sacapuntas mas grande que los otros, casi el doble, anexo imágenes comparado con una regla de 30 cm para mayor referencia. Alto= 18 cm, ancho =12 cm y de profundo 19 cm. 6) Tiene una bonita estética y creo que por el tamaño del motor va a durar mas, siempre he tenido sacapuntas de la marca Bostitch siempre me ha salido muy buenos. 7) Se conecta directo a la corriente eléctrica. 8) El deposito para la viruta de los lápices es de gran capacidad. 9) No se calentó cuando saque punta como a 50 lápices y colores para probarlo, es de uso constante. 10) Cuando los lápices o colores miden por el desgaste entre 5 o 6 cm ya no alcanzas a tomarlos para poder sacarles punta ya que es algo profunda la entrada. 11) El producto me llego antes de lo indicado, me llego perfectamente sellado y empacado, producto 100% nuevo.

Produit de bonne facture, robuste et efficace mais le descriptif n'indique pas qu'il s'agit d'une fiche électrique de type USA et qu'il faut l'alimenter sous une tension de 120V (en Europe la tension électrique du secteur est de 230V)

This is a great unit. I love that you can sharpen many sizes of pencils. It is very easy to use. Plug it in and the sturdy unit sharpens with little pressure needed to be applied, quickly and to a great point. It is nowhere close to as loud as others I have had, and it is a hard-working unit that is great value for money. I predominantly use it for pencil crayons and am going to get another one for my office!

This sharpener sharpens so fast. I bought it second hand here on Amazon and it’s wonderful. I use it with my pastel, watercolour, graphite and coloured pencils. I just sat there and sharpened them all in 15 minutes. The shavings collector is kind of dirty but who cares. I got it for $23. And emptying the tray is so easy. And it sticks to my desk top. So wonderful. And easy to pick up and move. And it’s plug-in so no batteries.

Muy práctico, fácil uso, de hecho lo utilizó por primera vez uno de mis hijos y sin problema identificó como se hacía el cambio del disco para sacar la punta. Está un poco más grande que los convencionales y tiene gomas que hacen se adhiera a la superficie donde se encuentra, por lo que lo hace más seguro, el ruido es mínimo, soportable. Recomiendo el producto ampliamente, me ha dado muy buen resultado.
