I have combination skin. oily t-zone, sort of dry cheeks. Does this cleanser work at removing excess oils or does it not remove any at all?

I would say it definitely removes excess oils, it leaves my skin feeling sort of stripped (not in a harsh way though if that makes sense?) and really ready to absorb the treatments and serums I use in my face they feel like they just sink right in and I really like that.

Should the face be dampened first before applying the cleanser or just the hands?

It is better to make foam in your hands.

Is this the recently renewed vegan version?

No it’s a low ph hypo allergenic formulated with plant based ingredients to aid in treating run of the mill skin in a gentle and soothing way— Rovectin started out in Korea after one of the wars to help the survivors of cancer and damaged skin due to war injuries to aid in their well healing in a gentle way but effective— Vegan is a choice not a problem - I think your trying to fix a choice - best of luck
