Using to erase EPROMS
Someone else's review mentioned that this works well for erasing EPROMS so I thought I'd give it a try. I've erased 40 EPROMS with this. About half erased in 20 minutes. The other review mentioned 10 minutes but that wasn't working for me. The machine shuts off after 10 minutes. So I set a 10 minute timer. After 10 minutes, I'd open and close the lid to turn it back on. About 80% of the EPROMS would erase when in the device for 30 minutes. Some EPROMS took multiple tries to completely erase. I might still pickup an EPROM eraser from China but many of the reviews site issues. This machine gets the EPROMS erased. Persistence was needed for a few of the stubborn EPROMS.

Phone soap Tested and passed
I was initially skeptical about the claim that light alone could sanitize a phone especially given the price of the device, and I knew verifying its effectiveness wouldn’t be straightforward. So, I decided to test it myself. Using sterile gloves and cotton swabs, I prepared three agar dishes: one as a control (untouched), one swabbed from my phone before cleaning (pre-cleaning), and one swabbed after using the PhoneSoap device. After incubating the dishes for five days, the results were clear. To my surprise, the device performed significantly better than I expected. Edit: the dots seen in the control and post dishes are either imperfections in the gel or the surface behind it. It’s not bacteria, only the one labeled “pre” had bacteria.

Your phone is germy! The research looks like it works.
This is my second PhoneSoap. I'm a scientist, but I don't have access to a microbiology lab, so I looked at research reports. PhoneSoap paid for most of the testing I found, but the protocols looked reasonable and I didn't see any red flags. An independent site (Dr. Annie's Experiments) did micro testing and found PhoneSoap effective. For best results, take your phone out of the case and wipe down the phone before you put it in PhoneSoap. I use a clean lens cloth dampened with a mixture of 50:50 alcohol/tap water. Put your case in PhoneSoap too (unless it's clear plastic, as UV causes yellowing). Wipe down the case first with alcohol or the alcohol/water mix, unless it's leather or something delicate. Pay particular attention to the edge where the case meets the screen, as a lot of bacteria build up there! I use PhoneSoap for keys, sonic toothbrush heads, and cosmetic tools (tweezers, nail files, etc). If it goes on my skin and it fits in PhoneSoap, it gets treated. How long does PhoneSoap last? The manufacturer says 6000 hours of use. One cycle is 10 min, so that works out to 36,000 cycles. Mine lasted for 6 years with up to 10 uses per week, which is 31,200 cycles, so PhoneSoap's estimate appears accurate. The UV bulbs can't be changed, which I suspect is due to safety as UV-C is harmful to skin and PhoneSoap shuts off if opened. The new basic model uses USB-A instead of a standard wall plug. The power cord is very sturdy. Overall, if you want a clean phone, I highly recommend this device.

Worked, but defective
Good design, seemingly well made, but there is no on/off switch. It is designed to turn on when the lid is opened/ closed. My unit would not turn on unless it was unplugged, then plugged back in. This is a known issue, and their website says to return it for replacement. They want tons of information: model number, color, batch number, etc., etc. before issuing an RMA. Returning it to Amazon was much simpler. Update: Amazon's replacement works fine! I have to subtract a star because of the unnecessary cycles. When you remove the sanitized item, the action of opening/closing the unit kicks off another cycle. Why not a "start" button? These bulbs are expensive, and have a limited life span.

Hoping for the best :)
I mean, how do I actually know it's legit sanitizing it and now just turning on a light bulb? I'd like to think I have a brand new spic and span squeaky clean phone every single time I use this. :)

After work cleaning
I use it everyday after my night shift at the hospital. Just plop my phone in and 10 minutes later it’s ready to go! It’s subtle too so it’s a perfect match.

Quick Clean
A good item to sanitize your cell phone. Does the trick in about 5 minutes.
