LOVE these! This is my 2nd favorite flavor, behind Cinnamon Roll. Yes, the bars are quite chewy, but i find it helps if you warm them up in the sun or in a bowl of warm water before eating them if the chewiness bothers you. The negative reviews for these things are pretty absurd. No, these bars do not taste like a candy bar. Everyone expects food to taste like dessert all the time these days. These bars have very low net carbs, almost no sugar, and high protein. They are fuel for an active, healthy body, not a dessert replacement bar. If that's what you're looking for go eat a sugar-laden Luna bar or some other "protein" bar that will slowly give you diabetes and/or reduce your life expectancy. If you want a healthy protein bar that will curb hunger for a few hours and aid in proper muscle recovery, these are excellent. Plus they are gluten, dairy, and soy free, which makes them awesome for anyone with food allergies/celiac disease/dairy intolerance, as well as those on a paleo diet.

I ordered this item twice. The first batch of vanilla cake bars I received tasted great. Yes, you had to warm them up and they were gooey, but also very tasty. This second batch is nothing at all like the first one, taste and texture wise. It seems more grainy/crumbly, has a taste of cardboard with vanilla flavor. They are easier to eat and I am able to eat them without first heating them. They are also not nearly as sticky/gooey. While this may be an improvement, the flavor of these things from the second batch I received is terrible. Not sure why such inconsistency. The ingredient list is the same. Since I can't count on receiving the same quality I got for my first order, I will not order these again. I would expect better quality/quality control from Julian Bakery!

These bars *are* dense as other people have said, but they are also filling. I have tried both these and the Quest bars as a meal replacement and my body tolerates the Julian Bakery bars much better. The Quest bars give me horrible gas and bloating. The vanilla flavor is probably the best (whether pudding or cake etc.,) as the chocolate has a slightly off taste. Though the espresso is quite good if you like coffee. The bars will give your jaw a workout but the fact that I can lose weight and stay on a ketogenic diet without the side effects of other protein bars is a big plus.

Arrives as pictured. Julian Bakery makes excellent bars and I have ordered hundreds of them over the years. I have an Espresso flavor one every day with my coffee. I like to warm these up as it makes them a bit 'chewy', otherwise they are a bit 'stiff'. I will order both flavors again as they are a staple for me. The lemon bars are also good. Good for the Keto diet.

They don't taste bad, they do NOT taste like Vanilla Cake, they don't even really taste like food to me. I can eat it, dont really enjoy it, but they were too expensive to pitch them. Would not buy again.

Oh My! I don't know if it is this particular flavor or if it is the product, but not good. Texture: not cake like, which was not that big of a deal but the company describes it as cake-like texture. It was more like taffy like. Taste: The first bar was ok, I ate it and I enjoyed it. The next day I ate the second one and the taste was a little cloying. The third bar I could not even finish. It was like the weird taste built up and my body rejected it. I almost got nauseous eating the third bar, and I wanted to eat it b/c I was hungry but no no no. This is going to sound dramatic, but even days later I would think about the bars and I would get sick to my stomach. It was bad and they are still sitting in my cabinet, haunting me. I hope the other flavors are better but at $30 I do not want to find out bc I still have 9 bars waiting for the trash can.

I love these! Ate the whole box within 4 days! Came back to order two more boxes and Amazon is no longer selling them. This is such a disappointment as I'm a protein bar junkie and this is the best I've had so far! Julian Bakery also has an amazing Glazed Donut flavor but Amazon doesn't sell those either. I know that it's an issue with Julian Bakery as they seem to have a lot of issues. My local health food store and gym coach used to sell their products but said that the distribution is horrible (received no product or moldy product). If this company could get their act together on their current products (instead of releasing new ones)- they would be extremely successful. I can see these bars replacing Quest! Bottom line- the bars are amazing.... if you can actually find them!

This is a PROTEIN bar. Very dense. Texture is like taffy. Heating these up in the microwave for a bit helps make them a little easier to consume. But no matter what you do, your teeth will know they've been in a tussle till you are done consuming one of these. Completely edible and digestible and I have no doubt that they contain 20g of protien per bar. I just think they could use a little creativity to spruce them up a bit. Add something crunchy inside them? And for someone like me that likes variety, chewing through 24 of them all the same flavor starts to get old after bar #10. Make it a box of 12? Or have a box of 24 and have 6 of 4 different flavors?
