PIT66 3rd Brake Light Compatible with 2004-2008 Ford F150

I have a 2005 ford F150. The harness IS COMPATIBLE, despite the other reviews. NO SPLICING WIRES. Under the metal lip in the top right side you will see two white plastic pins. Break them or push them in. They hold in the clip for the harness, and you will not be able to reach the harness clip otherwise. Be aware it can be surprizingly difficult (expect to curse a few times), but once its pushed in or snapped off its quite litterally plug and play. If you are confused on this- there is a youtube video a mid-aged dude made showing how to do this. Dont fool yourself. Use google if you dont understand my explanation. Light works great, and was easy to install otherwise.

This is the first aftermarket automotive part I have ever bought that was plug a play. What I mean by that is this plug hooked right up to the plug inside my vehicle. But there’s a trick you have to look inside the opening that the light goes into. You’ll see two white pins. You have to push those pins through the hole to get to the electrical connector. It will take you a few minutes. It took us 10 minutes and we unplugged the old light and plugged in the new light and it works perfect. On a sidenote, I have never ever been able to buy an aftermarket part, especially electrical and have hook up with no issue except for this one and this one works.

Great quality out of the box. However, i did not clearly understand the compatibility. I figured the Amazon vehicle owner function worked on other stuff so this should be easy too! False. My OEM light (original) did not have the handy plug in adaptor this unit comes with. So, enter car electrician mode. I had to tear apart my wiring and this units wiring and hook them all up. Took an extra hour but I did it right with wire nuts, etc. Works perfect. Only two suggestions for PIT66: How about include a small tube of liquid gasket or something to use with the foam seal? An extra $2 or $3 and boom, the thing is very much water and dust proof. LED lights: really, include LED bulbs with the unit. Less heat, last longer, brighter.

I have a 2004 F-150. When i took off the old light housing noticed that the connector was not accessible. Even gently pulling on it. I searched a popular video share site to get help and found a great video which i cannot post here. As an over-60 woman was impressed that i could take care of making that connector more accessible. Basically you do need to access the space from inside the truck. A small pry bar to pull off the two circular plugs on the very back ceiling panel. Gently pull down to see the connector. My connector was anchored to a subframe, again using the pry bar carefully - i was able to dislodge the connector and push it outside through the hole. Connection was perfect. Reverse to replace the ceiling panel usually just pushing the plugs in by hand or tapping with a soft mallet (make sure you finish connecting first, my wire was not very long and had to hold on to it while disconnecting and connecting). As other reviewers have said, it does fit perfectly, comes with a gasket and actually looks/works like a factory install.

Easy install in 20 minutes. Comes with new bulbs, bulb holders, and pigtail harness. To make install easier, remove the two christmas tree fasteners holding the rear of the headliner and access the wiring harness from under the headliner. The part itself is cheap and cheaply made. But it will serve nicely on a 20 year old truck.

Looks nice, but the connections from the original brake light/cargo light assembly do not fit in the new assembly. The options are send bact to Amazon, splice the wires or enlarge the holes where the bulbs fit to accommodate the slightly larger OEM Ford connectors. I elected to enlarge the holes which wasn't too much trouble with a small file. Now mounted, works and looks nice
