Y’all gonna wanna read this
So I’m 22 yrs old, working on my dad’s 2011 Mazda 3 with 152,000+ miles. I’m a weekend worrier mechanic and I had to go out and purchase a grinder and grind some of the “meat” off the bottom portion shaft of the two front shocks to fit in. I had compared the original shocks to the new ones I bought and it was a slightly thicker base that prevented the shock from going in the cuff all the way even with everything lined up . However, it does fit and everything is all fine and dandy with everything else, just not that you gotta clean the inside of the cuff with some sand paper, and then you have to grind some off the shaft so it’ll fit properly, I know this because before putting it in the wheel wheel and tightening the screws up top, I put it in the cuff all loose to see how it fit, and it simply wouldn’t go in till I grabbed a corded grinder, and shaved off plenty of meat. Pro tip, using a jack will help push it into the cuff better for the two front shocks. As for the rear ones, you can use a jack to push the struts up to lign up with that hole behind the rotor, or you can leave the strut compressed in the way it comes packaged, tighten up the top screws, cut it and be fast as hell in lining up the bolt with the holes. And if you’re just a big strong boy, by all means push that button strut in with ya heavy steel balls
