Small, reliable, functional and long running sensor!
So far - very happy with thus contact sensors. Beside the ones in the house, got an extra one for the side door outside (covered). 1. Easy setup. Super quick and straightforward. No rocket science, no IT degrees, not asking chatGPT on how to's. App guides you in few easy steps. And no wires!!! 2. Works reliably. In 2.5 years of using Ring Alarm and sensors I did not have even one event when a sensor would not react when a door/window is open. So sensitivity and motion detection work exactly as it should I have also chimes enabled so I clearly hear one every time. 3. Batteries live long. they run on two cr2032 batteries and I did not had to chance them once yet in 2.5 years and in the app they still show as full. With such longevity it's really a great, healthy alternative to wires. 4. Simple but functional. You get full event history, possibility to align them with your Ring Alarm modes, chirp tones, simple toggle switch on/off for open and close alerts. 5. Decent glue & overall quality. Especially for my side door as it's glued on bare wood, despite being covered but still outside, exposed to wind and temperature swings - and still hangs there so far without issues. 6. Solid connection range. Again, mine is outside, quite far from the wifi and the base station and obviously with external walls in it's way and still works well and reliable even without the range extender that came together with the Ring alarm. Definitely solid for a small device without any hanging external antennas. Overall, small little sensor, that works reliably and long enough to not bother you with hunger for batteries. I can responsibly recommend it. Hope it helps, stay well and safe! Cheers

A good sensor for your Ring security system.
Bought to monitor a access point door. It integrated with the existing Ring system really easily. It was just a matter of going into the Ring app and scanning the QR code to link the device to the existing hub. Then just remove the plastic which was stopping the battery from powering up the sensor. It was easy to fit into place. You just need to hold the sensor and contact in place for a couple of seconds to ensure it has stuck well to the surface. Also need to make sure the sensor and contact are not too far apart. So far the battery life seems to be quite good. The sensor has been installed for several months now and the battery still has plenty left. I did disable the light on the sensor within the Ring app which probably helps save a small amount of battery life as the little LED in the sensor doesn't light up. The signal from the sensor easily reaches the Ring hub which is probably 5 meters or so away and though a couple of walls. The hub reports the sensor signal as at maximum strength. It is quite expensive for a sensor, but then it is part of an investment into the whole Ring security system. It is also of a high quality of manufacture, and I haven't had any problem with any sensors I've installed so far. As you can see from the rest of the review, you do need a Ring hub for the sensor to connect to and install the Ring app to connect the device to the hub. Overall a good quality and reliable sensor with no false positives so far.

Solid sensor – just don’t fight it when changing batteries
This was a replacement unit after I managed to finish off the original one while changing the batteries. Entirely my fault. The casing is actually pretty robust, and once I’d opened it up a bit too enthusiastically, it was never quite the same again. That aside, the contact sensor itself is good quality and does exactly what it’s meant to do. Battery life was around 18 months on the original, which is more than reasonable, and setup is quick and straightforward through the Ring app. Easy to install, reliable once in place and integrates perfectly with the rest of the Ring Alarm system. Just take your time with the battery swap and don’t get carried away like I did.

Great addition to Ring home alarm
We bought a Ring home alarm and were so impressed with it that we bought these sensors to put on every door and window in our house They're lightweight, look smart and are easy to attach to doors and windows with the built in adhesive strip They connect to the app fast and easy and they have customisable sounds so that you can tell which door or window is open I like how they can be installed and have a gap between the magnet part and sensor part, because of the shape of our double glazed windows there is at least a 2cm gap when installing them We have had some of these for over a year now and the app shows that the batteries still have plenty of juice left in them. They use the CR2032 flat style batteries We did have one of the units just randomly die on us recently. So, we called Ring customer service who were very helpful. After completing a few tests on the unit as instructed over the phone, the operator said that the unit was dead and sent us out a new one free of charge. The only let down was that it was 5 days to arrive. Being a security item and an Amazon brand where you are able to have these delivered same day, I would have expected faster delivery on replacement parts so that my home didn't have to go unprotected so long

Replacement for defective unit
Bought this as a replacement for an old sensor which must have become defective as it had started reporting false alerts and burning through the coin batteries (they were only lasting about 3 weeks) - we had had the old sensor for a few years so it was out of warranty but we were not too upset as these are relatively inexpensive to replace. It was easy to install, just scan the barcode using the app to set it up, then fix the unit up on your door/window with the supplied sticky pads or screws. (Although in our case we re-used part of the old sensor’s fixings, we just swapped out the main unit that contains the electronics and batteries). So far so good, the sensor is behaving as I expect. The Ring alarm system as a whole is something I would recommend - although all sensors are battery operated, they typically have a long life and you can monitor the battery life via the app - and insurance companies are starting to view that a self-install alarm is equally as acceptable as a professionally-installed/maintained system.

Great value and quality
Small yet totally functional, I have several of these sensors around my home that are linked to a Ring base station. The batteries last for ever and the app lets you know how they're doing. It also lets you know if the sensor is tampered with. As they're lightweight, I fixed this one to my new UPVC kitched door with the supplied adhesive pads and it's rock solid.

Safety and peace of mind within minutes
We have now upgraded two of our properties with the Ring alarm, obviously we’re re very pleased. Its modular, of high quality and the app is very user friendly. Given all its features I find the Ring components attractively priced. These battery-powered 2nd generation contact sensors are quite slick, smaller and more stylish than the traditional bulky, shiny white plastic sensors we had before. I’ve installed quite a few by now and can tell from experience that they are quite versatile. Of course they look best on a modern door or window that closes without falling deep in its frame. However I had to install the sensors as well in different settings and on some older crooked doors - as long as both parts of the sensor are a few cm in reach of each other it should work i.e. there can be a gap between both parts and/or you can install them in an angular manner. I prefer to fix them with little plugs and screws (not included) so that I can remove the device when the door or wall gets redecorated. But the double sided glue tape on the back does the job just as well. So the installation, and set up in the app doesn’t require any tools and could take you less than two minutes, provided you have your base station in place.
