Though not well known in the United States, this blade is well-known and highly regarded in Europe where the top manufacturers leave off making their own, snap these up and stamp them as theirs. The blade is hardy, durable and distinctly lighter than the general run. The balance is a thing of beauty, a breath from the past with a lightness and direct ability like the best of the old French blades, (thought not so brittle) and a suppleness and give at the end like the Italian blades that haven't been made for twenty years. Not made in large quantity, care is lavished on them and they are finished by hand forging. Colors vary. Review: Not as pictured, or described. A common problem with Physical Chess - First, the products do come from companies other than described, this is an ongoing problem with Physical Chess. If you look at reviews for any of their items, these type of complaints are common. The product came uninsulated and was a mish-mash of parts. The blade was electric, not dry; it had an epee button, not foil; it has an Absolute guard and grip; and a Blade pad. If you want an Absolute foil, you can get one cheaper on the Absolute site. I think Physical Chess needs to revisit whoever is maintaining their desertcart account, and the communication with whoever packs the items. That being said, what I got was a workable practice foil, but not what was pictured or described.

Not as pictured, or described. A common problem with Physical Chess
First, the products do come from companies other than described, this is an ongoing problem with Physical Chess. If you look at reviews for any of their items, these type of complaints are common. The product came uninsulated and was a mish-mash of parts. The blade was electric, not dry; it had an epee button, not foil; it has an Absolute guard and grip; and a Blade pad. If you want an Absolute foil, you can get one cheaper on the Absolute site. I think Physical Chess needs to revisit whoever is maintaining their Amazon account, and the communication with whoever packs the items. That being said, what I got was a workable practice foil, but not what was pictured or described.
