Honest review of K&N Engine Air Filter: Increase Power & Towing, Washable Replacement Air Filter: Compatible 2007-2021 Ford/Lincoln Truck/SUV (F150, Raptor, Expedition, Navigator, F250, F350, F450, F550, F650) 33-2385 @ $51.99 at time of order. After researching online and reading reviews here, I opted to try this performance engine air filter for my 2016 F150 with the 2.7L EcoBoost engine, and just over 75,000 miles on the engine when I installed this filter. This reportedly enhances horsepower, performance, towing and can help with gas mileage. Who doesn’t want to increase their gas mileage, right? I don’t normally tow anything, but increased abilities are there if needed. This manufacturer boasts about the longevity of these filters, so we shall see. I don’t normally travel through mud or a lot of water or on very dusty roads (which can be a detriment to these or any filter). I plan on normal and average use. Likes: Amazon Prime shipping, returns and refunds. Limited lifetime warranty (this manufacturer has boasted of these filters lasting 1,000,000 miles). These are washable and they sell a kit to clean and reoil them. Up to 5 years or 75,000 miles between required cleaning (I won’t be waiting nearly that long so any updates to this review in the future will not be because I let the thing go dirty for too long). Very reputable company. This filter was a perfect fit and was quite simple to install. So far (about 150 miles into the new filter), I have noticed that my truck seems to accelerate much easier, it breathes easier. Maybe it’s just a placebo effect, but I don’t think so really. I opted to pass an erratically driving motorist and noticed more “umphhh” when accelerating to pass. It’s too early to tell much on the fuel efficiency increase, but I am hopeful. In the box are stickers and a decal that I opted to affix to the air filter cover, and then wrote the date and mileage on it. The decal alerts any shop or oil changing service to not throw your filter away and identifies it as a K&N Reusable filter. I am also saving the environment from added discarded old filters. So far, I have seen a 1-2 MPG increase in fuel efficiency. Dislikes: None so far. Mehs: This engine air filter is expensive at the onset, especially when compared to other engine air filters (that are not performance filters). However, this initial expense should be offset in the long run and should pay for itself by not having to buy replacements every 5-12 thousand miles. 5 stars

Perfect fit for my 2020 Ford F-150 XLT. I can already tell I’m getting better gas mileage and throttle response. I have a K&N air filter in all of my vehicles.

Great product

Ordered this to replace the factory filter, and it’s one of those upgrades that just makes sense long-term. Fitment was exact—dropped right in without any issues. The build quality is noticeably better than standard disposable filters, and the reusable design is the biggest advantage. No more constantly swapping filters or getting upsold at the dealership for something that takes five minutes to change. After running it for a while, the engine feels just as smooth, and airflow doesn’t seem restricted. It’s not a dramatic performance jump, but that’s not really the point—this is more about consistency and not having to keep buying replacements. Cleaning it instead of replacing it is straightforward, and once you’ve done it once, it’s easy to maintain going forward. Compared to stock filters, this is more of a long-term investment than a one-time purchase. For the price, it’s a great value when you factor in not having to keep buying new filters or paying dealership prices. It pays for itself over time. If you’re tired of recurring maintenance costs for something this simple, this is an easy upgrade.

I exchanged this with the original in my F-150 (2022) and am very happy with the performance and fit. There's a lot of construction which means a lot of fine dust in the air and this filter takes care of it without having to change every couple of months. The fuel mileage is where it should be, maybe even better. Engine is a twin turbo EcoBoost.

I've been a fan/user of K&N filters for over 40 years, and I'm very thorough when it comes to maintenance, so you can trust what I say here. Re-chargeable filters are good in theory, but you need to be aware of these things: My driving is never in dusty conditions, but I do live in the country, near woods, and I just cleaned my filter after 40,000 miles, and it was somewhat dirty, but more importantly, it had picked up all sorts of small, organic matter, wedged down between the pleats. So you WILL need compressed air to clean that crap out, along with a very tiny, flat-blade screwdriver to gently pick out the stubborn particles the air won't dislodge. And you'll need to do it in sunlight, so you can really see them! I used Dawn dish soap and warm water in a plastic bin, and did the process 3 times. After the 2nd time, I tapped the filter to dislodge about 2/3's of the crap, then fired up the air compressor and blew out/picked out all the remaining debris, then left it to soak one final time in the cleaner, each time changing the water between cleanings. I left it to soak about an hour, rinsed it thoroughly, then blew it off one final time, then left it in the sun to fully dry. I also took the air nozzle and blew out the air box, TOWARDS THE INTAKE SIDE, NOT THE ENGINE SIDE, because it collects crap in there as well. I used air filter spray oil to oil it, then replaced it, and wrote down the date/mileage in my owner's manual. (I told you I was thorough!) All in all, I would cut K&N's recommended 75,000 miles cleaning/recharging in half, and you need a compressor to do it right. And about 2 hours of your time. If you don't have that, just buy a replaceable filter. It's not worth it. For me, it is. Plus I feel good about putting less trash in the landfills.

" You get what you pay for", I purchased a knockoff reusable filter for about half the price and immediately noticed the fit was poor at the air filter housing thus negating the filter's performance and possibly causing engine ingestion of debris and dirt. Trying to save a few bucks may have caused me much larger repairs bills down the road. Returned the "knockoff" and purchased this K&N filter. It fits nice and snug, works fine. Not sure about any mpg/hp boost but that's ok, I got what I needed.
