Is it adjustable to hold a Glock 27 or a Glock 42?

I do not know Glock models well. I can tell you I use this for a full size SW M&P and I can adjust it to hold an S&W Shield. So it adjusts from full size double stack down to sub compact single stack. I use the holster to hold the full size inside a pocket of a sling bag. It has never pulled away when I have the full size with 15 rounds in place. And the holster wraps around the trigger housing to prevent discharges.

Will this attach to a "carpet" type backing (like a safe door)?

Do you have any velcro patches or cable ties to test out the carpet? If they stick, then this will stick, too.

Will this holster fit a para ordnance p14-45? It's a full size 1911 with a double stack mag.

It should. I have a M&P 9 with a 4.25 in barrel with a double stack and it is no problem. The part that wraps around your trigger guard is made to be quite versatile, and would expand plenty to fit your .45 double stack.

I need a cheap, temporary holster for hunting. Could this fit a Desert Eagle?

I use this for a Glock 19 inside a coat pocket for concealed carry. I do not believe it would hold a Desert Eagle. The best inexpensive holster I have found is a Versacarry. I have several one is for my Springfield XD full size .45. Very happy with Versacarry.
