VTech Whiz Kid Learning System

I purchased the Vtech Whiz kid system as a Christmas present for my two year old. It is a wonderful system and a great learning tool... unfortunately, not for a two year old. From the pictures and videos I've seen, I thought it would be much easier for him to use. I don't regret buying it though because he will grow into it and does enjoy playing with it, but with my assistance. My older children enjoy it and have learning a few things from it. It is easy for them to play, and very rewarding when they choose the correct answer. It plugs into the computer and you can track each childs progress. My favorite feature of this product is the CD rom that comes with the game....if my son destroys one of the pages, it is easily replaced by printing one out. I haven't tried this yet and am not sure how it works, but since I was purchasing this for a two year old, that played a big factor in choosing this system over others. I bought rechargeable batteries for this game and with almost 8 hours of play time, they have not gone dead yet!!! I would recommend this toy to other parents! Your child can play it at home on or off the computer as well as take it along in the car for quiet car rides. This toy will be a good learning tool for my son as soon as he grows into it.

This is an excellent interactive learning tool for 3-6 year olds that is great at home and can be used on the go. My preschool age daughter loves her Whiz Kid, which reinforces all preschool/kindergarten concepts she has learned and provides excellent practice. Once she becomes tired of an activity she slips in a new page. The wonderful thing, the Whiz Kid automatically recognizes the new page---no buttons need to be pushed to start = no FRUSTRATION!!! With so many activities she'll play for long periods of time. Once connected to the computer, the characters come alive and the interactive mode truly kicks in. Parents are able to see which concepts their son/daughter has mastered by viewing the progress reports. Installing is simple and no internet use is required. Misplaced pages can be downloaded and printed online. New activities can be unlocked with mastery and the push of a simple button. She, at the age of 4.5 is able to manipulate and start up the program on the computer with ease. Highly recommended!!!

It's great and I am getting ready to purchase other Whiz Kid games. Since my 2 1/2 has mastered the mouse, all he wants are computer games. I purchased the Whiz Kid to see if it would challenge him and it does. When we are home we play together on the computer but when we are on the road he can play with it in the vehicle. Only down side is all the sheets. They get dispersed quickly in the vehicle.

I bought this for my four year old son a month ago and he loves it! It's great for when we're in the car on a long journey or any where for that matter. It keeps him really occupied singing, counting, spelling, hearing short stories, the time - you name it has it! A couple of things I would change is that when a story/rhyme is being read the words should high-light to make it easier for them to follow. I would also recommend it having a clip or something at the back where the extra sheets are stored; that way it would stop the cards from falling out when they move around with it. Overall ,I found this was definitely a product that was value for the money.

Although my 3 and 4 year olds enjoy this toy, they need a lot of supervision to operate it. They already know the alphabet, letter sounds, colors, shapes, have some number skills, and can do any game on the Noggin website on their own, but they have trouble on Whiz Kid with the pen and can't read the activity buttons. Also, the power switch is not in the best place and can be accidentally hit. I found that the activities would be good for maybe 5-7 year olds, but it is misleading to think that 3-4 year olds could use it independently. Also, the activity pages are easily bent.

This is a very good way to start off your child to learning. my baby boy is so amazed and knows how to turn off and on the toy. likes the music too. he dances to some of the music even though they are short. very educational. teaches numbers, letters, sounds, and you can reproduce the pages if they get destroyed because of the CD. Highly recommended for kids. they will surely love this, as my child and i do.

I purchased the Vtech Whiz Kid Learning System about 3 years ago for my 3 1/2 year old daughter. It was a bit advanced for her so she has only played with it the past 1 1/2 years once in a great while. I went to replace the batteries and it would not come on. I tried another set and still no luck, so I called the company. The lady I talked to was nice and tried to help me by having me remove the batteries and let it rest for 30 seconds and put them back in, nothing happened. She had me removed the batteries again and hold the on/off button down for 30 seconds and then put the batteries back in, and still nothing. She then put me on hold only to come back and tell me there was nothing they could do. I asked about repairing the devise and she said since it was out of warranty (which is 1 year) and there was NOTHING they could do. I asked to speak to a manager and was put on hold again for her to come back and tell me they would tell me the same thing she did. I said that I still wanted to speak to the manager since I had wasted so much of my time and money on their product and felt they could take a little time out to talk with me about their faulty toy. She said they could call me back. I'm not holding my breath. So this machine that was over $100 new and has been VERY lightly used by a gentle 6 year old girl is now worthless with a company that will not stand behind their products. I am very disappointed in vtech's service and hope this will help someone else save time and money by choosing to do business with a different company that will stand behind their products.

My five year old grandaughter is having lots of fun with this game. I ordered it for her birthday. Her mother finds the educational material an excellent reinforcement for what she is learning at school. She likes its versatility. My grandaughter enjoys it most when she connects it to the computer.
