So fun, priced right and easy to use!
This is so neat! We recently adopted a puppy and we wanted to know what we adopted! Our Vet recommended this because it is a fraction of the cost of what they will charge. It appears to be accurate! And the information they provide is fun, informative and interesting! If you want to upgrade you can get more information! We are very pleased!

Accurate results & great customer service!
For 11 years I've wondered what my beautiful black rescue dog might be, and now, thanks to Wisdom Panel 3.0, I finally I know! Most people think he looks like a wolf, but there are obvious non-wolf characteristics, like straight back legs, a curled tail, and a GSD-like personality. ("I'm the Dog, and I'm here to help!") There are several breeds I've suspected in his lineage, but before getting the test results, I forced myself to pick the four I thought were most likely. When the test results arrived, I knew they were right on, because Wisdom Panel found the same four breeds I'd predicted: Chow, Malamute, German Shepherd, and Gray Wolf. The family tree was arranged in a very plausible way that made perfect sense. I didn't know the test can identify the type of wolf, so I was extra-pleased to see that they were able to tell me that his great-grandparent was specifically a Gray Wolf. Their weight prediction was accurate, with his adult weight of 77 lbs falling right in the middle of their range. The kit is easy to use, and the directions are clearly written. Sample collection requires sticking a small round soft bristled brush inside the mouth, rotating it for 15 seconds against the cheek. This must be done twice, with each of two brushes provided. It's probably not an issue for most dogs, but my dog has never been too keen on me sticking stuff in his mouth (no tooth brushing for him), and he's not the type to be forced into anything. (Maybe that's a Chow-Malamute-Wolf thing.) The first two swabs went flying across the room, getting thoroughly contaminated. I contacted customer service, and they were friendly and helpful. They sent me four more brushes and some suggestions on how to get him to accept them. I used one as a training swab, gently brushing him around the mouth and lips with it daily for a few weeks. After much praise and lots of treats, he relaxed and started to enjoy it. One day I broke open two fresh swabs and got the samples without him batting an eye. The mailer is postage paid, so I just dropped it in a mailbox and waited for results online. Results were ready about 2 1/2 weeks from the time they received the samples. I am extremely pleased with the Wisdom Panel 3.0, and look forward to testing my other dog!

Info regarding details of report sections and process timeline. Very impressed!
(Note: This is worth what you spend on it, truly, but the price goes up and down. We got it at $56 via a flash sale, and the price then went to the 70's. It went back down a few weeks later to the $50's, and now it's up to 80. This is in the space of less than 6 weeks. Keep an eye on the price or use a site that alerts you when the price here drops. No matter what, this is definitely worth it!) Best Christmas gift I've ever given, hands-down. We adopted Rose from a wonderful rescue organization in September 2015. She was supposedly half-Chihuahua and half something else, most likely miniature pinscher. Well... my sweet girl whom my (wonderful) vet said would likely average 9-12 pounds has grown to a svelte 22 pounds. Of course, he didn't know exactly what her parentage was, and neither did we. I got this for my husband for Christmas (Rose is his baby). The timeline was: Mailed 12/24/16, Email from Wisdom Panel showing receipt on 12/28/16, and we received an email saying the results report was ready on 1/12/17, which is 2 weeks and 1 day from receipt. We easily logged back in to the site (you register when you send the sample) and viewed the report. Congratulations! Rose is a Shetland Sheepdog, Miniature Pinscher mix. (OMG!) The report was easily downloaded to a pdf which was 10 pages long, and included the following sections (as of January 13, 2017): (1) Key Breeds Detected โ a genealogy chart which shows great grandparents, grandparents, and parents); (2) Key Breed History, Appearance and Behavior (one section for each key breed detected; in our case we had two), which tells you things like height, weight, ear, muzzle and tail characteristics, roots (e.g., the Sheltie has its roots in the Shetland Islands off the coast of Scotland), coat type and colors, markings and traits; (3) Ours had a Mixed Breed Ancestry section, since this was part of Rose's DNA makeup. It included information such as the groups within the mixed breeds (in our case, her mixed-breed ancestry was made up of the Terrier Group, Companion Group, Sporting Group and Hound Group. There's a bar chart showing how much of each group makes up her Mixed Breed ancestry. Each group within this section has information like the type of dogs that make up the group, what they were initially bred for, traits, etc.) (4) MDR1 (Multi-Drug Resistance-1) screening - this DNA test tests for the MDR1 genetic mutation, which can mean a dog is more sensitive to certain drugs. (Thereโs more information on this on the site.) Ours showed the Rose does not have the mutation, and isn't at increased risk for experiencing side effects from drugs that are pumped by P-glycoprotein.); (5) How Key Physical Traits Are Inherited - shows the influence of breeds on a dog's appearance; (6) Additional Information - includes the following sections: (a) Predicted Adult Weight Profile, (b) Talk to Your Veterinarian (show them the genetic results, esp. if there's an MDR1 issue), (c) How Wisdom Panel Works, and (d) A $15 off coupon to purchase an additional kit for you or friends/family (7) A Statement of Authentication certificate, which includes the names of you and your dog, the date of the test results, a genealogy chart showing great-grandparents through parents, and note certifying the authenticity of your dog's canine genetic background as determined following the analysis of the genetic markers. Again, The PDF can be easily downloaded and printed. I am VERY happy with the price, delivery, ease of gathering the sample (two cheek swabs; very easy and quick), and the timeline until we received the results. I've already ordered another test (we have two dogs) and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Easy to use, detailed report provided
I read the reviews of several of these types of products and this one had many positive reviews. After buying it and using it, I can see why. The process was simple, the company kept me informed through the whole process, and the results were amazing, very detailed. From what we can tell by the appearance of our dog, the results are also accurate. What we thought were the main breeds in our mixed-breed shelter adopted pet, were pretty much spot on.

We have answers!
We adopted the muttiest little mutt around, about a year and a half ago. People constantly ask us in public what his breed is and we could only guess. Obviously, it doesn't make a difference but we've been so curious ourselves. His gigantic ears that stick straight up, combined with his scrawny little body and beagley-print... we have been throwing around the idea of one of these tests for a while and finally pulled the trigger on this affordable one. The instructions were a bit hard to follow as they were short blurbs written on the box and left questions that were clearly spelled out but in random spots on the box. That's my only complaint though. I'll say this to help you: Register the test and fill out the swab packet FIRST. It's hard enough to write on the packet without the swabs in it, I can imagine it would be impossible if you stuffed the swabs in first. USE A TIMER when you're gathering the samples!!!! 15 seconds seems like it would be easy to guess at but when my husband actually counted out 15 seconds for the second sample, it was obvious that my guess at 15 seconds for the first swap might not have been a full 15 seconds. Wait 5 minutes for the swabs to dry before you put them in the packet. This is one of the bits of info that is on the box, but not IN the instructions. I kind of guessed and I'm pretty sure I had wound up waiting at least that long but didn't see this on the box until I was sealing it all up. Weird that it's not in the actual steps. They say it takes 2-3 weeks for results. Once they receive the swabs, they tell you it's 2-3 weeks from the time they RECEIVE the swabs (OH, the HUMANITY!!!!). However, it was a week later from this time that we were pleasantly surprised with our results. I'm sure it will be a longer wait around the holidays when people get this as a gift and whatnot. The results on our little Wesley were surprising but not at all unlikely. The only disappointing part was how on one side of his family tree, they could only narrow him down to "groups". I feel like the science is just not there yet for this level of mutt though. We did get definitive results for over 60% of his breed profile though, so we still got really good answers. The 30ish% was a mix of 4 different breed groups. I'm just glad that we didn't get any "Unknown" answers like I've seen in reviews on other brands of this type of test!!!! So, in conclusion, we had a lot of fun doing this and were pleased with the layout and details of the results. The way it breaks down the family tree is really cool and it's nice to know he doesn't have that medicinal defect it tested for. We liked it so much that we ordered another one to test on our husky. He's a rescue too and we've been curious if he's full husky or if he has anything else mixed in. If you time it out right, you can get this test for as little as $65 (that's the lowest I've seen it, with the Veteran's Day sale and includes tax and shipping) through the Wisdom Panel website! That's what we did for this 2nd one we just bought.

Recommended by my vet, easy to use
We adopted our puppy from a rescue organization that had no idea what breed mix she was. Everyone had their guesses so we decided to buy a doggie DNA test. Our vet recommended this brand and another one for most accurate results. Instructions are incredibly easy and the swab process was quick. Just send the swabs back in their prepackaged mailer. Canโt wait to get our results in a few weeks and see if we were close on breed guesses. Iโll update after we get them back to see if the price is worth the results! Purely based on ease of use, Iโd recommend. *Update* we got the results and are thrilled! While they werenโt exactly what we were expecting (surprise!), they make complete sense with her size and looks. Iโm confident the results are accurate. It helps us know what type of exercise she likes/needs and how to manage her diet/exercise going forward. Iโm so happy we bought this! Still 100% recommend.

it worked for my shelter pup
we got our shelter pup last october (2019) at the age of three. we knew he had some pit in him but no one seemed to agree on what else he was mixed with so we got this test. turns out he is 75% American Staffordshire Terrier (pit) and 12.5% American Bulldog. down side is there was another 12.5% that the test couldn't figure out so it had to be a mix prior to his great grandparents. it is nice enough to tell you what breed group that mix is made up of and on the site it gave us examples of dogs in that group to help us figure out what else he could be made up of. for us, we are saying he is a pit/bulldog mix and not stressing about the other 12.5% as those two breeds are a good representation of what he is. it goes into detail about each breed and breed group giving pictures and basic temperament. these fit our boy spot on. the basic temperament the site gave us was he is loving and protective but a bull headed independent thinker which requires lots of training. since he is a complete cuddle bug and has a bill of $800 in obedience training already, i'd say the test hit the mark. it also tells you what his estimated size should be and our boy is right in the middle of the estimate so it seemed to be pretty accurate with that as well. all in all, i am a little annoyed i paid so much to find out he is a pit mix which we already knew but the realization that he was part bulldog was great to see. all the arguments are now settled with this test and we now have something to give to the vet so we can keep him healthy and happy so i call it an over all win

Oh the RELIEF
I read tons of reviews and decided to order and get this test. The puppy I have was dumped on my road and infested with all of it. And he was 7 1/2 pounds at the time. Looking like a border collie but so many people kept suggesting he could have pitbull in him and I absolutely did not want that as my neighbor has so many and Iโve watched maulings and I just didnt feel comfortable with that and as heโs grown and changed at 3 months old he sometimes just looked like a mix of so much. The test came the next day after ordering. We waited the 2 hours of no food and did it all mailed the next day they got it in about 4 days. And itโs been about a week and a half and the results were in. It was extremely fast!!! I also knew itโs not around any holidays so that helped! I have a husky?! Border collie. The vet saw sighs of shepherds in him so had a feeling about that but itโs still exciting to see all the smart breeds. Even some family of his listed. Very satisfied and would recommend to anyone like me with a little dumped baby uncertain of what theyโve got terrorizing you at home lol

Very hard to contact
Donโt buy if you are in Australia, they donโt service here. They are also impossible to contact for issues, took half a year before I got to someone, who then let me know that our efforts to post to the US were wasted as the sample was nowhere to be found, and that they donโt do this for our area. Not sure if US people or areas have a better experience but this one was not good for us. The two stars is just cause they eventually did give us our money back after much running around and emails.

Very pleased with Wisdom Panel
We are so happy with this product. It shipped and made it to us very quickly. The directions were easy to follow although our puppy didn't enjoy it very much. The longest part was waiting for the sample to reach the laboratory (~10 days) and we got the results in less than two weeks from that!! Quicker than expected. We adopted a rescue puppy and were unsure of her breeds. The shelter said husky mix but she looks shepherd/lab. The test showed that she was all three and two more that were surprising (jindo and Lhasa apso). It was really fun reading the report and gave us good insight into what she will grow into as she is still a little 3 month old. Thanks Wisdom Panel!!

Arrived quickly, now waiting for results
Shipping back to the lab took a bit of time, but the company is very communicative and clear about every stage of analysis. Can't wait to see the results!

Removed my doubts about Mambo's ancestry
Mambo was sold as a caboodle, but he looks nothing like a poodle. He is also far too big (22kg) to be a cavoodle. Wisdom Panel results came back showing that Mambo is 37.5 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, 25% Golden Retriever, 12.5% Labrador Retriever, 12.5% Poodle and 12.5% Shih Tzu. (No picture and no information about Mambo given.) The fact that poodle was in Mambo's genes finally justified why he was tagged as a cavoodle. The strong retriever component also made sense in view of his built. Now everytime someone asks what breed is Mambo, I can give a definitive answer. Really cool product, thank you! =D

This test is accurate. Pleased :)
I was a little hesitant at first to buy this test. But I am glad I did. Turns out my rescue dog (MAX) is a 'Jackapoo". He is half min poodle & half jack russel terrier. When I got Max I did see his litter mate (sister) and a Jackapoo breed makes sense when I think back to her + Max. I have had Max for 4 years and never knew his true breed. I figured he was a poodle mix. I don't care what his breed is, I love him regardless. But it was super cool to find out what he really is. And also to find out why his legs are so long, why he can jump super high & why he has a terrier face / triangle ears & so on. 100% recommend. Do this. Its worth it. Results took about 2 weeks.
