This machine pulled up 3 trash bins full of debris! Easy to use and very effective. The collection bag is small - we had to empty it often. I highly recommend! Battery life was adequate. Plenty of power - never bogged down.

Got this in a few days ago, did not use it right away due to cold weather. Packaging was very bad, box was torn. Nothing seems to be missing however. Assembly was easy. Used it for the first time today, Feb. 11, 2022. It did a very good job for about 10 minutes, then it died and would not restart. I had done a full charge on the batteries. The batteries show about a 2/3 charge remaining. When it died there was a smell as of a burned electrical motor. Currently recharging the battery and letting the motor cool. Will then try it again, it it does not work I will try to return. Disappointed. Feb. 12, 2022. It works, tried it indoors as it's too cold to use outside. So not a full test. I don't think I did anything that could be considered outside of normal use yesterday. Will see what happens on a warmer day. Still disappointed overall, I'm planning to keep it at this time as I really wanted a dethatcher.

Compared to the competition, Sun Joe is as good as it gets; but there is lots of room for improvement. It does a great job thatching. I attached the bag, but it does not stay attached, so it is worthless. I had to use my lawn mower to suck up the thatch. The batteries lose power in less than 20 minutes; and take a long time to charge. Why such small batteries? My electric lawn mower uses one 80V battery and it lasts about 2 hours.

Best money I spent. Great product ans well worth it. Only detaching right now. Used it like 10 times and works great. Cord is easy to manage if you take your time. I just can’t believe how much thatch I had.

This really does the job. It pulled out so much thatch from our yard, it was impressive. It was easy for me to push despite the handle being high up for me. (I’m 5’2”).My hand did get tired holding the bar “on” to keep it running. I wish there were a locking mechanism for that. The problem we had was that it would keep stopping. At first we thought the battery had run out, but we hadn’t been running it too long, then we realized our Bermuda grass that seems to be trying to take over our yard, was getting wrapped around the tines and wheels. After watching videos about dethatching with this particular one, we were very interested. It works great,just not if you have a rhizome type grass. We will be retuning this one and just have a to rent a larger machine.

Good lasting power from the two batteries. Great ability to rip thatch from lawn. Fun to use. Throw away the little catch basket 🧺, it's useless. Follow up with a real mower that can vacuum up all the pounds of thatch. Lawns came out great.. I should have purchased this year's ago. All the neighbors now want to borrow it. It for residential use....don't use it commercially...it is still cheap plastic...but the motor and blades are strong metal.

So I'm lazy and don't bag my grass clippings, who does? I decided it was time to dethatch my lawn after 3 years of mowing, broken down fallen leaves, etc. First off, glad I purchased the battery model. Have a family member who has ran over numerous power cords and I did not want to fall victim to that mistake. There are 2 different shafts, one for "tilling" the ground and one with raking fingers. Again, 3 years of thatching build up in my lawn. I started with the tilling shaft on the middle setting and this thing chewed through the thatching and even chewed up broadleaf weeds and crabgrass. The only adverse effect it had was that now I have bare spots where grass was growing upon the thatch and wasn't rooted in the ground. But I am ok with that, my bare spots will fill in correctly now. Next I swapped shafts and used the raking one and that was......tedious. I can't say it's a negative as again 3 years of build up, but one pass up and back and the bag was full. 18 full bags later the lawn was done and I am extremely happy with the results. I have heard nothing but great things about the Sun Joe brand and echo those praises.

I suggest getting the cord version. I love the cord version it and amazing how well it works. The batteries on this style do not last long or they heat up and shut down. My yard is not that thick but I had to move the adjustable dial to its highest setting to even make a few passes that mattered. You want a dethatcher to get to where the thatch is and the batteries just do not provide enough juice and power. Now if you mow your lawn to about an inch, I guess the battery version works fine. My lawn is about 3 inches and this just doesnt work. Even if I got a set of spares, I would need three sets to just do my front lawn which is 15'x25'

First, the dethatcher came look like an open box, the order is for a brand new item. When I first to try it, just found out that the collection bag came with the package did not fit the dethachter (see pictures), it kept falling off the machine. Secondly, when I try to change the scarifier roll, I discovered one size of the machine near the wheel was broken (picture). I contacted Amazon for refund/exchange (received about 10 days ago), they ask me first contact the manufacturer for under warranty claim before asking for refund hassle. I do not understand the logic. I have contact the manufacturer and waiting for reply, almost 48 hrs passed by still have not heard anything. I am very disappointed the Amazon and SunJoe support.

This was easy to use and quiet, though it is louder than the mower. Changing between the blades and the Dethatcher though, has proven to be a bit of a pain. Requires screw and compartment detachment component removal and replacement . Screws require a ratchet. It is not as easy as it seems. Nor will the description or details tell you about this. The machine works amazingly though! Aside from the difficulty in changing the components, this is a very worthwhile machine to have!
