What is the difference between the Ooma Telo Free Home Phone Service and the Ooma Linx VoIP Phone and Device?

Ooma Telo is the main device that provides the phone service. Ooma Linx is a device that connects with the main Ooma Telo unit to provide a wireless phone jack, among a few other things. Bottom line is that you can get phone service with just the Ooma Telo, but you CANNOT get phone service with just the Ooma Linx.

Hi, this is only an extension to the Ooma Telo. It does not work on its own, you need the Telo. I only pay about US$4 a month for the taxes. If you have internet in your home you will only need to pay a minimum amount for the taxes in your area, the service itself is free.... Hope this was useful!

Our ooma telo base is at 1st floor but our fax (office) and also our bedroom is at 2nd floor, are we going to have good service by  buying ooma linx?

I have a similar scenario.  My base station is on the 1st floor and I have two Linx in the basement and  one linx on the first floor.   The first floor unit works fine. For the basement unit approximately every  couple of weeks the linx will fail with booth the blue and amber light being on constantly, the phone extension is inoperable. The usual fix is to remove & reinsert the linx.  A call to tech support was less than useless as the representative tried to upsell me for a home security product rather than resolve my problem with the units I have already purchased. Recently, I have grown tired of this and have connected the linx to a programmable outlet which resets itself every day.  Hopefully this will resolve the issue.
