Marine Navigation Parallel Ruler (Aluminum Arms, 15-Inch)

After forgetting my plotting tools at home on day two of chart plotting my instructor let me borrow his just like this. I immediately ordered this one and it greatly helped me achieve more accurate plots for my USCG plotting exam. Don’t cheap out with the ruler and divided/compass set. Get the good pair the first time.

This is something you can easily learn to use. A must for boaters in a situation that you lose nav capabilities. Lays flat in your nav station desk top.

Excellent set! Having the slightly larger parallels is well worth it. Replaced my 12” with this 15” and will never look back. Excellent quality, easy to use and durable.

the parallel rules are extremely useful for me when plotting and charting positions as well as determining bearings. We keep a DR track of our voyages and it was so much more difficult prior to getting the rule. I would however have liked a ruler on at least one edge so that I could also use it to measure distances. Even a pencil will not make a temporary mark on the rule necessitating me to use another tool to measure distances.

This is the original way of reading chart headings in the nautical world. It's neat that they are clear as it makes it easy to see what you are doing when aligning them. My older set were not.

Perfect. Easy to read, nice and smooth. Used it for sailing classes and worked perfectly. Only thing I would caution buyers about be careful of the size, I like the larger size but some chart books are smaller and it doesn’t fit easily.

Great size, and quality. Has both metric and imperial measurements, which I deem essential.

Reasonably good parallel action ruler. Clear plastic with protractor markings printed on the lower surface and not engraved, I expect these will wear off much sooner because of this. Marketed by American company but made in China hence the cheaper production I guess.
