Read and find out about the sun and the moon in this colorfully illustrated nonfiction picture book. The sun is out in the day and always has a circle shape. The moonโs shape seems to change, and you can sometimes see it in the daytime and at night. What are the sun and the moon? How are they the same and how do they differ? Hop into your spaceship and find out! With beautiful illustrations and engaging text, The Sun and the Moon guides young readers into a deeper understanding of their observations of the sun and the moon. Featuring a find-out-more section with instructions on how to keep an observation log and how to make moon ice, a glossary of new terms, and web research prompts, this book will begin childrenโs explorations of the sun and the moon. Recommended by Brightly as a favorite book for kids about astronomy: "This book even has a glossary and science experiments to offer kids a hands-on learning experience." but it's a great addition!
This book's pictures interest my 2yo while the information interests both my 6yo and my 10yo. It won't do as the only book on this topic in your home library, but it's a great addition!

My daughter's favorite book!
My daughter loves this book. She's still too young to do the science experiments but she loves the illustrations and storyline.

Really???
Language is very sophisticated for a Level 1 reader. Shows images of the phases of the moon but does not explain WHY we see them that way. The information it does provide is accurate. Asks children to take a rocket to the moon. Tells the story of the moon landing. Explains day and night due to rotation of the earth. Illustrations are good.

Difficult to read, not detailed at all
Very superficial ideas about the sun and the moon mixed with impossibly detail activities. Difficult to read, no real narrative. My toddler is much happier with My First Book of Planets by Bruce Betts. And so am I. Donating as soon as my toddler forgets about this book.
