OPPO A94 5G Unlocked Smartphone, MediaTek Helio P95 8GB RAM 128GB Storage 6.43" Android 11, ColorOS 11.1 - CPH2211-BLUE-AG

This is a really lovely smartphone - well worth the £300 ... the 8gb RAM ensures apps work with lighting speed ... the camera is good and the phone is well designed with a virtual fingerprint sensor on the front screen which works very well. I am regularly getting speeds of 150mbps via the 5g, which makes the Internet truly fast ... I also like how light and slim the phone is ... even with the provided cover securely on. And the ColorOS ... I've been using Oppo phones for a number of years now and I think the system is absolutely fine - easily as intuitive as Apple. Battery life is good too - it's usually down to around 40pc at the end of a day when I am using it just about most of the time. I highly recommend this phone.

Excellent phone until today 5 yes down the line

There seem to be few budget or mid-price 5g phones which take 2 sims and a micro-sd card (it avoids the annoyinging hybrid second slot approach of Xiaomi or Samsung 5g phones of similar spec). That was a reason for choosing this to replace a Xiaomi. It is a good weight and size and sits comfortably in the hand, has reasonable memory and the processor seems up to quite heavy demands of a smartphone (I was a bit doubtful of a Mediatek processor - I've previously gone for Qalcomm but this outperforms the Qualcomm in the previous Xiaomi. I don't use it for gaming, but just about everything else). The camera is pretty good, but the promise of 48 mp or more for the camera overlooks the fact that the small lens on this (and probably any) smartphone is not up to providing the definition to benefit much from extra megapixels. (For seriously better photo quality get a good digital camera.) Interestingly it does a better job of picking up a fairly poor 4g phone signal from O2 where I live. I did wonder about the facial recognition but it is quite neat. The on-screen fingerprint reader is ok but can misread on the first attempt sometimes. It has a pin login but sadly does not have a pattern login, which I miss. But it does have a lovely 3.5mm stereo jack for wired headphones.

At 7.8 mm thin, the handset is as thin as my old OnePlus 6, which is great because most new phones now are at least 8.4 mm thick, not much thicker, but you do feel the difference when you’re holding your phone. I picked the more traditional grey/black colour which looks good and doesn’t stand out, the back seems to be plastic coated glass but I am not sure what Gorilla Glass protection rating is on the screen or the back, it does look pretty standard though, nothing special from a design’s point of view. With a 5G Tesco Mobile SIM, and having bought the OnePlus 8T when it was reduced to £399 recently only to realise that OnePlus still hasn’t fixed their ‘no 5G on our expensive 5G phones’ problem yet, it was nice to see this £300 Oppo picking 5G signal. It’s also worth mentioning that this is my first MediaTek chipset phone, all my previous phones have been running on Snapdragon chipsets and I was a bit hesitant before buying it, but if you’re thinking the same? There’s no need to hesitate, MediaTek preforms just as well as Snapdragon. Start up and initial set up was smooth, apart from one step that took a bit longer than usual, but it did move forward and I was asked to finish setting my ‘Reno5 z’ up, clearly a cloned software from another OPPO device, but it worked. Within a few minutes, a software update was picked up and it updated to latest Android security updates and everything ran smoothly. Startup time with all my apps downloaded and fully logged onto is about 2/3 seconds slower than the OnePlus 8T, which I think is a great achievement from a £300 handset. I can go on forever but I’ll try to list what I believe to be the pros and cons of this handset: Pros: 1- 5G that actually works. 2- Screen is vibrant and clear, dim enough in the dark and bright enough under Sun light. 3- Screen is super bright and responsive, but not the power hungry 120Hz screen. 4- Fingerprint scanner is incredibly responsive, and much better than conventional rear or side mounted physical sensors. 5- Battery life is amazing, 2 days moderate/heavy use without needing to recharge it. 6- Customisation is almost endless, and fun. 7- Thin and lightweight. 8- 3.5 mm headphone jack. Cons: 1- Camera isn’t great on Ultra Wide mode, and struggles a bit on low light, but I think this can be rectified on future software updates as the sensor itself is a decent snapper. 2- Menu can be a bit childish, and things like text size and screen zoom can jump from one extreme to the other, a sliding option can be handy. 3- At first, I couldn’t enable pattern unlock instead of password, but finally found it by trying to change password. 4- Always On Display stays at full brightness for too long, might be too bright during night time. 5- Disabling icon names extends to drawer icons too, not just desktop icons. 6- No VoWifi or VoLTE on Tesco Mobile. 7- Can not disable swiping left from home screen to access Google news feed, it’s just there whether you like it or not. Also can not disable any of Google apps. As you can see, most of the cons are software related that I think can easily be rectified by a software update, hopefully Oppo might listen to this and sort it out. The only real competitor for this handset in my eyes (AMOLED Display and under display fingerprint scanner) at the time of reviewing is the realme 8 Pro Which has a 108 MP camera, charges at 50W and selling at £259, (But not a 5G handset, so you decide what’s more important). realme is advertising a 5G version of the 8 Pro at the moment however, but no price yet. Overall: I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a decent 5G phone to pick this up, you will probably be wondering why other phones cost twice the price or even more.

Phone is OK but not perfect when holding the phone it is easy to touch the buttons on the sides exactly where you want to hold it and alter some settings. This could be a problem for other people too I am sure of it. Buttons should near the top of the phone away from your grip. Sadly I over looked this but you life and learn. I am happy with the phone as it was great value.

I brought this phone in early 2022 to replace a significantly more expensive brand name device - although not nearly Flagship - that I was still paying for under contract but had broken outside of the warranty terms. Anyhow, this phone... I've loved it since I got it and it can do so much more than any device that I've ever owned, or need. I've often dropped it or left it at the bottom of my handbag, being bumped by all the other stuff I chuck in there. But still it's going strong and in great condition after 19 months of daily use. Despite the fact that approx 6 months ago I broke the screensaver that had been on it since I brought it and I haven't bothered to replace it - the screen is still in great condition with only some very minor scratches. I'm currently looking - casually - for a replacement for this phone - only because I take a lot of pictures and videos of my family, accumulate a lot of junk and I'm starting to edge closer to the huge 128gb storage on this device. Perhaps I should concentrate on getting rid of some of that junk first before 'upgrading' - since this phone competently does everything I need it it to do, as well as so much more. Easily the best phone I've ever owned.

I have been really pleasantly surprised by my Oppo. It takes great pictures, which was important to me, and does everything else I need. That being said, I am not particularly technically minded but battery life is good and it is much faster than my old phone. My only negative is that the camera zoom is not particularly good.

Odd title you may think, at my age with these things one is a slow learner the face and finger reader thing i have not used yet so can’t comment, the battery charge is very quick and lasts well, all in all so far a very good phone with a lot of capability at a great price when compared with far more expensive known named phones . I’d not heard of this make and i guess i took a risk as my knowledge of high tech is limited but so far so good i am quite pleased.

Gli smartphone Oppo negli ultimi anni hanno preso una notevole importanza. É un marchio dove si parte dal meno costoso fino al top di gamma (come tutti direte) ma c'è da dire che già i più economici sono degli ottimi dispositivi. Ho trovato questo A94 5g al miglior prezzo qui su Amazon. Sono soddisfatto, veloce e reattivo, ottima fotocamera. Attenzione, il mio arrivato era brand Vodafone ma questo non ha creato problemi, al primo avvio basta non installare le app del gestore proposte. All'accensione non ci sono loghi del brand ma solo la dicitura ColorOs quindi del sistema operativo Oppo. Super consigliato!

Tempo fa avevo sempre questo Oppo, poi dopo diversi anni ne ho cambiati molti di cellulari. Ma alla fine sono tornato con Oppo A94 lo adoro, leggero,piccolo e veloce, per il prezzo va più che bene. Forse l'unica pecca ma questo quasi tutti Oppo hanno il problema con la batteria lungo andare.
