This is a beautiful novelty item, great for decoration or gifting. The shell is a beautifully sculpted ceramic, a decent weight, not flimsy, well made, in a lovely pale/medium pink with an iridescent finish that makes it shine in the light. The pearl is pale white and is also ceramic. The pearl runs tiny button type batteries, but are relatively easy to replace. This item could not possibly be used as "night light", as has been advertised, as it is bright only when you first turn it on, and only for about 15 minutes. After that, it begins to grow dim, until if goes nearly dark after about half an hour. The batteries also need to be replaced frequently. Despite these drawbacks, it is a really beautiful sculpture and will add an exotic accent anywhere. It looks gorgeous just as a sculpture, even without the light, but the light does add a lovely touch. Since it comes from China, shipping may be delayed or uncertain, as it was for me, but I eventually got it safe and sound and I am very satisfied with it.

My 11 year old granddaughter loved it! I gave it to her for Xmas! She was born in the month of June and we always say she is a “pearl” of a girl! This little lamp will remind her of that! It’s very pretty and very worth the price!

This is really an attractive piece. However, I'm very surprised and disappointed it doesn't have a timer. Also, the orb light can't be anchored so it can fall off if bumped or when it's being handled. Otherwise, I like it very much. It was well packaged and arrived quickly. Not sure about the life of the batteries. Too soon to comment.
