AKASO Brave 7 Action Camera, Native 4K IPX8 Waterproof Underwater Camera

Love this underwater camera wasn't the 1st one i tried as i tried a different brand first but wasn't happy with the quality. I'm glad i spent a bit more and bought the Brave 7, I recently filmed some Turtles and fish snorkling in Rarotonga (Cook islands) in 4k i have attached a greatly reduced quality video clip the original is much sharper and 4k. The things i really like is the image stabilisation is very good on a boat etc no blur and play back is pleasant to watch .i filmed everything in 4K then took pics from the stills which are good enough to print as normal size prints. the other thing i really like is that is the camera itself is rated to 10m without an outer case to make it waterproof so unlike the cased camera's it records sound.another thing i was really suprised and impressed with is it can record fish under water in focus and also do scenic distance video's above water that are also very clear and in focus. i didnt use it as a still camera just video so cannot comment on that aspect but would recommend i think its great value for money i use a 128Gb high speed card and a floating hand grip mount. Battery life was good and lasted well, I took the 2 charged batteries out with me and only had to change them once

UPDATE: Having written such a glowing review of this camera, it disappoints me to say that I am now on my third camera! The first camera started to let water in after a time, and, consequently, the photos appeared blurred. To my knowledge, I hadn't been negligent with my camera, so am not sure why this fault occurred. Amazon were great, and organised a replacement, but this had a faulty battery compartment door, so could not be used. Goodness knows why this fault was not noticed by quality control at the manufacturer's! I therefore returned the camera for a second time. I eventually received a third, but this time, the price had increased by £30! This camera appears to be holding up! Fingers crossed! I was eventually refunded for the increase in price, and, rightly so, but this was after much communication, hassle and returning of cameras! Such a shame when this is a great, little camera at a much more affordable price than the more expensive models out there. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I purchased this camera for my new wild-swimming hobby and would certainly recommend. Having never owned a waterproof action camera before, I have no other action camera to compared this one to, but I can safely say I'm very impressed! Great battery life, really clear pictures/videos, easy to use and download the footage. It took really clear photos of the fish swimming near me in the river ( I had popped the camera underwater in front of me as an experiment to see what was there!). It's also useful not to have to place the camera in a separate waterproof case. I'm still trying to work out what all the attachments are for that were included! 😄

I bought this action camera with the aim of using it to capture some videos of an upcoming vacation abroad. After trying it out over a couple of weeks, I elected to return it and spend a bit more money on a DJI Action Osmo 3 as I simply needed features that a "budget" camera could not offer. I did have an issue with the audio recorded with the built-in microphone when using the supplied remote control. The resulting audio was full of interference clicks when the remote was close to the camera (e.g. at bottom of a selfie-stick), which turned out to be a fault with my particular camera. After contacting Akaso support, I was sent a replacement camera which after testing did indeed confirm the fault was with the original unit supplied. My main issue with this camera is that the ability to download videos from the camera to Akaso's "Go" mobile editing app via Wifi is great, apart from the fact that this is limited to 1024 resolution max, so you CANNOT download over Wifi anything shot in 2K or 4K. Having to carry around cables and connect the camera to my computer I found inconvenient and would rather simply transfer videos over WiFi. This was the main reason I elected to return this camera and updrade to a bigger budget camera with more features. If you are looking for good image stabalization, fully featured video options etc., then you simply neeed to spend more money on something else. I guess you get what you pay for, but for me it had too many drawbacks for what I was looking for. If you just want a basic camera, then this camera is well built and works reasonably well. The camera is well built and has a good solid feel to it, Akaso's support service is excellent in my experience. I'm giving this a 5* rating based on two points:- 1. For the price, you get a good "basic" camera that provides almost everything you need on a budget. 2. Akaso's technical and customer support where very good and very quick to respond to questions.

I purchased the Brave 7 specifically to use on my mountain bike to record the rides, plus more importantly as a safety camera. I have used it on 2 recent rides to check the results by viewing on my laptop from the micro SD card used in the camera. Setting up the camera on my bike: I had preset the resolution to 4k at 30fps with the Stabilisation set on on. I then attached the camera using one of the supplied mounts conncted below my Garmin Explore handle bar bracket ‘upside down’ as this is all the provided Akaso camera case would allow. However I was able to use the lock function on the camera screen to enable the image to be rotated 180 degrees to correct the camera’s inverted position. All this requires when the SD card is in the laptop and playing is to again rotate the image 180 degrees to reverse what I had done whilst the camera was fixed on the bike. To start recording there are 3 options: 1) lightly press the power button on the camera to start recording. 2) activate the voice command in the camera settings to facilitate starting the camera to record 3) remote control to start the recording Post Ride Video: Please note that both rides were completed in daylight so I haven’t been able to comment on the camera’s low light performance. On reviewing the footage I was pleased with the video quality which isn’t GoPro quality however for a third of the price there are no complaints as everything is in focus, crucially the reading of vehicle number plates was very clear. Also the image stabilisation appears to work very well even on off road terrain including cobbled areas. The sound quality is a different story however as it is patchy at best and needs serious improvement. Akaso can supply an external microphone (which I haven’t yet purchased or tested therefore cannot comment on the quality). Although if you go on longer rides (more than 1 hour) you will have to stop to change the battery by removing the camera from its case. Alternatively attach a suitable powerbank which you would also need to fasten to the bike frame/handlebars and use the only C type socket on the camera to attach. This means you cannot use an external microphone at the same time as there is only 1 C type socket on the camera. I used an existing 32gb card which was fine although I have now purchased a 256gb Samsung one off of Amazon to prevent repeated over writing as the camera will accept up to 512gb. Just make sure you purchase the correct specification U3, V30 to prevent any recording glitures/failures when recording at 4k 30fps. The camera comes with many more features which I haven’t had the time to explore/put to the test, including the photo picture quality and rain/splash proof without having to use an additional waterproof case, as yet but will provide an update at later date. So just an initial view for the very short period of time I have had the camera and for what I need it to do for me which I am more than happy with.

I bought 5 of these to film some scale ship trials out on the water and they were perfect for the job. I’m not jumping out of aeroplanes or snowboarding off mountainsides so I can’t comment on how they perform in those environments but attached around our trial vessel on suction mounts taking 4K video they were ideal and I bought them for about the same cost as hiring a set of GoPros :) What I really like about them is they’re very small and they’re fully waterproof so I don’t need to faff about with cases. The main screen is bright and clear, there’s also a screen on the front and they come with two batteries, a wireless remote and all the accessories I needed. The only extras I bought were a set of waterproof hard shell cases and the suction mounts. The menu system is straightforward and the setup was really quick, didn’t really need any outside help. Battery life seemed to be as claimed although we’re doing more testing later and will check this out. Image quality looks pretty good although our application is relatively slow and stable so it’s not going to challenge the image stabilisation. If I have one criticism it’s with the remote control, which is both excellent and frustrating. its excellent because the included remote units are small, Bluetooth, display a lot of useful information and they seem to work well with each camera. It’s frustrating because I have 5 cameras and I want to start and stop them all together but you can’t with a single remote, you have to use all 5 of them which is pretty cumbersome . There is an iPhone app which uses Wi-Fi to the cameras but I didn’t get this to work well, it wasn’t too reliable. You connect to each camera ad hoc so you have to switch Wi-Fi networks on the phone to control each camera. What I’d really like is to connect each camera to my phone Wi-Fi ad hoc and control all 5 at once from the app, but haven’t figured out how (or even if) I can do this. In the end I went round and operated each camera manually which was a shame but I hope in future I can either solve this or hope Akaso do a firmware/app update to improve this. I like the cameras and at the price still give them 5 stars but if this one aspect was fixed they’d be outstanding.

I purchased the Akaso Brave 7 as an alternative to the costlier GoPro after having used a Gitup Git2 for 7 years. The Brave 7 is an easy to setup and use camera. After tinkering with the settings for 5 minutes, I mounted the camera on my car dash and went for a drive. Arriving home, I checked out the footage and I was pleased. Recording at 4K 30fps, I was very pleased with the daytime and late afternoon footage along with the early evening as things got darker. I was able to view number plates clearly in the footage under all these conditions. Some friends moved house recently, so I setup the camera in their new place and they moved in, unpacked and decorated the place. The timelapse footage was lovely and they loved the quality of the footage as it marked their special occasion. I also took the camera kayaking in a lake and submerged it for a while. Rain started pouring too and the camera remained functional and unaffected. I'm yet to do diving tests with the new housing I've purchased for it. Overall, I think this is a functional and robust piece of kit that does a lot of things for a very good price. Happy shooting!

After spending a lot of time researching action camera I decided to take the plunge and purchase the Akaso Brave 7. The first use was an evening with my son swimming in the very rough sea and body surfing the waves. The camera was easy to operate and straight out of the box without playing with any settings we had great footage. The next try was taking a group out gorge walking which I do on a regular basis and attached the camera to my helmet. Again, great stable footage, and the group was really impressed by the photos and the footage which they happily used on social media and trip advisor. On a recent coasteering outing to explore a new area to take groups in West Wales, I took some great footage but unfortunately forgot to screw the front lens on properly and as I result saw it drop into the sea. Although I tried to retrieve it we were by a cave opening and it was too rough to dive down. On my return home I emailed customer services and explained the situation and asked if I could purchase a replacement lens cover as it was my fault. A few days later a replacement arrived in the mail at no cost with them going out of their way to help and support me - totally impressed. My experience with action cameras has been with a well-known brand, you know the one, but I'll be sticking to Akaso from now as quality, price, and support have excelled expectations. Really impressed how solid this little camera feels. The mounting cradle fits securely and as a bonus it's waterproof without the need for an extra case. Lots of bits come with it but haven't used them all yet. Remote control works well and because it has a screen on the front, you can operate the camera from where you are and see yourself in the image. (Nothing worse than taking a whole load of video, only to find you're not in it or it wasn't recording) For the price you can't go wrong. A go pro is at top of the game but way more expensive. Yes you'll need a better mic but most people finish up buying an external one anyway. For the casual user or recreational youtuber, it's pretty good. Save yourself some money and buy one of these or even 2 for the same price as a go pro and get multiple angles of the same experience. 18th January 2022 update. Returning the camera. When I got the camera from Amazon warehouse, it came with a battery missing. There should be two in the box. The remaining battery lasts for a couple of minutes until it's dead and needs to be charged. This makes the camera unusable. Also, now the weather is colder, when Itake it outside the lens mists up with condensation. So I have to turn off the camera, wait for it to demist, then turn it back on again and within 30secs it mists up again. This also makes the camera unusable. I am returning the camera for a refund and will probably buy what I should have in the first place - a GoPro

Ich bewerte hier die Action Cam Akaso Brave 7. Die Kamera wurde schnell geliefert und war ordentlich verpackt. Ich hatte von Anfang an, sowohl beim Filmen als auch beim Fotografieren, "HDR" aktiviert (High Dynamik Range), da solche Bilder die Kontrastunterschiede bei Aufnahmen mit sehr hellen und sehr dunklen (schattigen) Anteilen ausgleichen soll. Das sah bei sonnigem Wetter auch ganz gut aus. Allerdings bewirkt HDR bei dieser Kamera, dass sehr schnell ein Bildrauschen einsetzt. Der Tipp: HDR unbedingt ausgeschaltet lassen, die Kamera macht bei Sonnenschein sehr gute Bilder und in der Dämmerung auch. Lediglich beim Fahren durch Waldgebiete wirken die ansonsten klar gezeichneten Bäume verwaschen. Wie bei Akaso üblich ist sehr viel Zubehör dabei, sehr gut. Überhaupt wirkt die Kamera sehr stabil und ordentlich verarbeitet. Die schwer zu öffnende Batterieklappe der 4er ist durch einen kleinen Schieber ersetzt, womit das Öffnen und Schließen des Batteriefachs und des Faches für die micro-SD-Karte und dem USB-C Anschluss viel leichter wird. Ein wenig drücken muss man schon, was der Tatsache geschuldet ist, dass die Kamera spritzwassergeschützt ist, angeblich sogar bis 10m Wassertiefe dicht halten soll. Deshalb ist auch kein wasserdichtes Gehäuse dabei, sondern nur ein Kamerarahmen. In diesem sitzt die Kamera ganz hervorragend. Die Rahmenstruktur ist absolut genial durchdacht, man kommt sogar noch an die Klappe für die SD-Karte und den USB-C Anschluss heran. Was sicher sehr vorteilhaft ist, wenn man z.B. Zeitrafferaufnahmen machen möchte und die Kamera über USB-C mit Strom versorgen möchte. Die Regendichtheit gefällt mir sehr gut, da ich auf meinem Youtube-Kanal (Peter Petersen Fahrradwohnwagen) auch mal während Regenfahrten filmen möchte, was mit meiner Sony RX100 iii nicht geht. Die Kamera verfügt über einen Digitalzoom, der leider schnell zu verwaschenen und pixeligen Aufnahmen führt. Sehr gut finde ich den Objektivdeckel, den man entgegen dem Uhrzeigersinn nach ca. 1/4 Drehung entfernen und somit austauschen kann. Kratzer auf dem Objektiv sind also kein Thema mehr in Zukunft (falls man denn Ersatz bekommt). Wirklich sehr hilfreich ist das zweite Display an der Frontseite. Es gibt genügend Situationen, in denen man den Aufnahmebereich besser von schräg vorne kontrollieren kann, z.B. in engen Räumen wie meinem Fahrradwohnwagen, aber auch in Autos, im Zelt, beim Selfie auf dem Fahrrad o.ä. Und natürlich bei Selfie-Aufnahmen. Gut ist auch, dass im Aufnahmemodus oben eine blaue LED blinkt, so weiß man immer, dass man gerade aufnimmt. Die rote LED zeigt das Laden an. Was sehr gut ist: man kann lange filmen, z.B. im Zeitraffermodus, und die Kamera gleichzeitig mit einer Powerbank mit Strom versorgen bzw. die Batterie laden. Aus meiner Sicht ist das eingebaute Mikrofon qualitativ sehr gut. Ein deutlicher Lautstärkeunterschied ist festzustellen, wenn die "Windgeräuschreduktion" abgeschaltet ist. Dann nimmt das Mikrofon wirklich laut, klar und mit Tiefen auf, während der Klang mit eingeschalteter Windgeräuschreduktion sehr leise und dünn wird, die Windgeräusche aber trotzdem noch hörbar sind. Das Mikrofon funktioniert sogar sehr gut, wenn die Kamera im Rahmen steckt, obwohl dann nur ein kleines Loch im Rahmen den Schall durchlässt. Ich habe keine Veränderung registriert ob mit oder ohne Rahmen. Sehr gut finde ich, dass man an den USB-C-Anschluss ein externes Mikrofon anschließen kann. Die Bildstabilisierung ist deutlich besser als bei der Brave 4. Sicher nicht auf dem Niveau einer mindestens doppelt so teuren ActionCam, aber doch absolut brauchbar. Das Gehen wird gut ausgeglichen, auch beim Fahren funktioniert das sehr gut. Wer das sanfte Bewegen der Kamera noch unterstützen möchte, hängt sich beim Gehen oder Filmen ein ultraleichtes Stativ an die Kamera, somit werden Bewegungen noch mehr ausgeglichen. Kritik: Die Menüführung ist gewöhnungsbedürftig. Eigentlich ist sie sehr intuitiv aufgebaut, man findet schon alles nötige recht schnell. Aber warum welche Funktion im Menü mit dem Zahnrad erscheint und welche im Kamera-Menü, erschließt sich oft nicht. Dazu gehört auch, dass man z.B. die Zeitrafferfunktion über das Wischmenü am Bildschirm aktiviert, aber sich für die Einstellung des Intervalls durch das Menü tippen muss. Im Menü selbst kann die Zeitrafferfunktion auch nicht wieder abgestellt werden, dass geht nur über das Wischmenü. Die Logik ist anscheinend so gedacht, dass man im Rädchen-Menü die Details einstellt, wie z.B. die Zeitverzögerung bei Zeitrafferaufnahmen und dass man im Wischmenü die Zeitrafferfunktion an - bzw. abstellt. Der eingebaute Lautsprecher erzeugt keinen "Klang", allenfalls "Geräusche". Wenn man die Lautstärke des eingebauten Lautsprechers auf 100% setzt, wird die Stimme arg übersteuert wiedergegeben. Ich habe ihn auf 65% eingestellt, dann ist der Ton zwar sehr leise, aber die Sprache übersteuert nicht mehr so stark und man hört zumindest, ob der Ton aufgenommen wurde. Wünsche: 1. Ganz großartig fände ich einen optischen Zoom, und wenn er nur 3x ist. Dazu könnte der vordere Ring am Objektiv dienen, das wäre richtig old-school und richtig gut fürs Filmen. 2. Toll wäre eine Makro-Funktion für Blumen, Insekten etc.

J’utilise la Brave 7 depuis quelques semaines et je suis vraiment bluffé par la qualité. Les images sont nettes, les couleurs bien rendues, et la stabilisation fonctionne étonnamment bien, même en mouvement. Elle est parfaite pour mes sorties en plein air, que ce soit en VTT ou en randonnée. La double interface (écran avant/arrière) est super pratique pour les selfies ou le cadrage rapide. L’étanchéité sans caisson est un vrai plus aussi : testée sous la pluie, aucun souci. L’autonomie est correcte, et le fait qu’elle vienne avec deux batteries et plein d’accessoires est vraiment appréciable. Franchement, pour le prix, difficile de faire mieux. Je recommande à 100% pour ceux qui cherchent une action cam performante sans se ruiner.

No soy un experto, pero he usado ya varias de estas cámaras de acción y las uso para grabar pequeños videos en la montaña o de experimentos en casa. Esta me encanta, la mejor que he probado hasta ahora y os cuento por qué. Cosas que más valoro: - Sumergible sin carcasa. Para grandes profundidades se recomienda adquirir la carcasa estanca. Como yo la quería para andar por la montaña y que aguantara lluvia o nieve, es perfecta. - sensación de una cámara PRO: tacto, acabados, cierre de la batería y para cable de conexión. - puerto USB C. - dos baterías. - cargador de baterías externo. Esto está genial. (USB C). - mando a distancia con batería recargable con USB mini (no incluido). Sobre las fotos: - Hace fotos buenas, buen color y resolución. Suelo tener activado del filtro vivido para potenciar los colores. - Opciones de video de todo tipo, suelo usar los TIMELAPSO en unos rangos de tiempo que no tienen otras cámaras similares, que van desde 0,2 segundos hasta 1 minuto en cada intervalo y la duración que tú quieras. - BUEN MICRÓFONO, dado que es la AKASO BRAVE 7 II, que ha mejorado el micro que era muy cacoso. - Cámara lenta muy aceptable, no es su punto fuerte pero cumple. - Estabilización de imagen potente, no como una GOPRO pero hace buenos videos si la llevas en un pequeño trípode de la mano, como suelo hacer, e intentas no ir dando brincos. - En el día a día, agradezco el fácil botón de encendido y apagado, así como el sonido que hace al hacerlo. Otras cámaras tienen el botón más duro o no se escucha el sonido de arranque. Lo agradezco porque la llevo montada en el pecho muchas veces y la enciendo y doy al play sin mirar la pantalla desde el mando a distancia. Bueno, no he hecho hincapié en las características más técnicas de la cámara porque no soy un experto y porque están puestas por todos los lados, tanto en la descripción de la misma cámara aquí como en las reviw que hay en las opiniones. En general se vende por 159 euros, con lo que si está más caro puedes esperar a que baje algo. Es buena, es resistente, aguanta lluvia y sumergirse, viene con dos baterías que me dan para hacer videos cortos y timelapsos durante dos días, carcasa abierta para poderla poner a cualquier chisme y todos los apechusques habituales en estas cámaras, salvo en las muy caras que no los mandan. In questi giorni dopo il ricevimento della camera e dopo avere caricato le due batterie, ho provveduto a fare un reset prima sulla camera e poi sul telecomando, poi ho riprogrammato i vari menu' interni e quindi ho testato i primi video. I video prodotti sono ad una sola traccia audio, ma questo si risolve in post produzione del video finale. L'audio registrato è minimo, e spesso molto disturbato, si sente il classico rumore bianco di fondo assieme alle parole, però anche questo problema si risolve editando la traccia audio e rimontandola sulla sincronizzazione video. I comandi vocali sono utilissimi, ma li uso in lingua inglese per comodità. La scheda SDcard ho dovuto riformattarla quattro volte in soli due giorni, perché altrimenti la camera registra un video ma non lo scrive fisicamente sul supporto. Effettuata la formattazione della SDcard, poi il sistema ha funzionato bene e i video sono quelli richiesti da questa fascia di prezzo. Devo dire che questa piccola actioncam ha soddisfatto le mie aspettative per il prezzo contenuto e la moltitudine di accessori a disposizione, a parte l'audio che richiede un editing specifico per essere migliorato e il tempo occorso per rimontarlo sulla traccia video. Nel complesso sono soddisfatto sia per la fascia di prezzo che per gli accessori inclusi, e quindi la consiglierei come prima actioncam e per fare test di montaggio audio/video a chi si avvicina per la prima volta a questo settore e non vuole spendere tanti soldi per una actioncam più professionale. Aggiornamento del 16 giugno 2023 Ho fatto decine di video con questa piccola cam, e per il prezzo pagato si è rivelata un ottimo affare, perché è stata usata in tantissime uscite e ha preso anche numerosi colpi tra arbusti e rami, oggi è un po graffiata dall'uso che ne ho fatto, ma non volendo spendere molti soldi, ho ottenuto sempre buone riprese considerando la fascia di prezzo, il sensore e altri particolari che ho visto in post produzione sui video registrati, l'audio si può migliorare aggiungendo tracce moltiplicate sul programma di montaggio video. In sostanza, la cam richiede una scheda SD veloce, le impostazioni sono molto semplici, lavorando con il montaggio video si possono ottenere filmati interessanti dalla ripresa originale. Sto pensando di prenderne ancora due per un progetto video, spero che la Akaso possa rimediare all'audio nelle nuove versioni di questa cam, potrei suggerire di inserire almeno 4 microfoni, per me l'audio è molto importante. Concludendo questo secondo aggiornamento, devo dire che sono soddisfatto di questo acquisto, il prezzo, la dotazione di accessori, e questa fantastica cam, attendo le nuove versioni per poterle provare, a quando la Brave 8 qui su Amazon?
