Review: The most comprehensive and valuable guide into energy finance. Well-writen chapters with updated and relevant analysis, given technological and industrial progress in recent years. Equally useful for academics as well as practicioners. Review: Excellent book for those that want to gain a broad understanding of how renewable energy projects can be financed, by who, how these projects compare against other assets, and how the field might evolve in the near future. Key strength is that each chapter is written by a real expert in the area and is full of relevant insights supported by world-class sources and data (e.g. IEA, CPI or BNEF). I found especially interesting the conceptual model that illustrates the influence of cost of capital on the valuation of RE investments across different investor types (Ch3) and the analysis of potential impact in financing costs across a range of policies (e.g. duration of support, revenue certainty or risk perception) in Ch5. The analysis of whether/how institutional investors can play a role in RE projects financing in the future is outstanding and really worth reading in detail (Ch11).

Great book with lot of insights. Really enjoyed reading it, although all the figures where a bit shady and black-and-white which made it more difficult to understand or differentiate some curves and lines. That is why I gave 4 out of 5 stars.

A very good intro to this wide ranging subject. I've been researching behind-the-meter energy storage (predominately residential) for a new UK renewable energy supplier coming to market (Q3 2017) and have found Chapter 12 "The Spectacular Growth of Solar PV Leasing" particularly useful. For energy storage to kick on beyond the "socks and sandle" wearing early adopters who have the money to pay for these systems outright new financing models for the masses will be essential and I feel what the Solar industry has gone through in recent years, through leasing models, provides a good template for the energy storage market. Chapter 13 on Crowdfunding is also very good. The pace of this sector (renewables, storage, demand side response, inter-connectors) almost renders any book on the subject outdated before they are even published. In any update to this book I feel a chapter on the potential of the blockchain to the energy networks of the world would be very useful. For anyone interested in energy blockchain developments I came across "ElectriCChain" & "SolarChange" at a recent exhibition I attended. Anyway, I think this is a very good book and hope others or an updated version comes out soon.
