How bright is this light? I don't want to disturb my girlfriend sleeping next to me.

how do you change the battery?

At the base of the lite which attaches to the kindle, the bottom slides off ( it's hard to move but it does) to replace the battery.

What type of batteries does it use?

As the another person says, it uses a single AAA battery. Can be rechargeable or not. And it lasts quite a long time.

What is the width of the support arm? I have a 3rd generation kindle (2010) and m-edge case and light from 2011. Light just died so need replacement!

It's about an inch wide, I have Kindle touch, and it fits between the Kindle and the case between the little flexy corner loops.
