Awesome shears with cool factor!
choices choices! When it comes to folding emergency shears you have 2 main choices. SOG ParaShears or Leatherman Raptor shears. I bought these to compare them out of curiosity. They feel like they are built very well and are plenty ready to do some work. I am not disappointed to own a pair! If you have already compared the features between the 2, rest assured it is a great set of emergency/trauma shears! For those that are unsure though, lets compare the 2. The SOG ParaShears have more tools available on board. They feature 5 tools that the raptor shears don't while the raptor shears feature 1 additional usage that the parashears do not. Parashears tout a small philips screw driver, an awl, a small serrated blade, combination bottle opener/flat head, and tweezers, but is lacking a ring cutter (which the raptor shears do offer. This may or may not be important to you). Both types also feature a ruler, glass breaker, strap cutter, and of course the shears. as well as come with a belt case and pocket clip. If the tool set of the parashears fits your needs, then no need to look further, pick these babys up and enjoy! If you are still unsure, lets go into a comparison of using the 2. Both are extremely sharp, I am not sure the compound lever makes too very much of a difference, but in everything I have tested I think part of it is that the added force was just not needed. It certainly doesn't hurt anything though! Opening/closing: both the parashears and the raptor can be opened with 1 hand, though it takes a different approach. the parashears have a portion of the opening process where the blades are apart meaning the sharp edge is exposed, the best way I have found to open with one hand should you need to is to push the handles apart a bit so you can loop a finger through one of the finger holes before flinging it open. the raptor shears you can open with 1 hand more like opening a pocket knife. Not a deal breaker, but certainly will come down to some preference Once opened, both the Parashears and raptor feel good to use, though I will give the edge to the parashears as they do provide a bit more surface area against your fingers as you close them. Downsides: the placement of the small cog bits sit proud of the bottom of the blade. If you have to cut something with the bottom edge of the shears pressed against something the lower cog will press against it as well. The locking surface of the strap cutter sits just a tiny bit proud within the handle, if you are a lefty this may be a hot spot on them for you. could easily be fixed with a file to round the corner a little bit and add comfort, for righties it is plenty far enough out of the way that it shouldn't be a concern. Construction - despite being sheet metal, they seem to be built like a tank, I have no concerns of longevity for them. Conclusion of comparison. Either way, you cannot go wrong, the SOG ParaShears are built well, have a cool design and offer a lot for the price. Hopefully this helps some of you out there decide what is best for your needs! TL:DR - These are great shears with a lot of added tools, implementation is a bit odd for some, but I can't recommend against them!

First trauma sheers I buy, would buy again.
I’ve been meaning to buy trauma shears for a long time. SOG has not disappointed me with products before and this is no exception. Due to it being foldable, they’re small enough to fit on a pocket, belt or whichever other place you might put them (backpack, car, and so on). They’re made out of really good materials, and once you unfold them, the scissors are of good size, sharp and cut very well. It has some multi tools (seatbelt cutter, tweezers, 2 screwdrivers, bottle opener and a few things more). And also has a belt clip. Would recommend.

Great shears
Why did you pick this product vs others?: By far my favorite pair of shears ever. High quality and extremely sharp. I have used them for a year in EMS and still as sharp as day one. I love all the add on parts with it also. Only thing is I wish it had a hard case

Good shears
Pros Good quality, cuts really well, has a fair selection of well made accessory tools and a decent sheath. Notably cheaper than the Leatherman folding shears, and almost as good. So far they cut anything I asked them, and cut it cleanly. The included seat belt cutter and glass breaker are well made. Cons: Can pinch your finger when folding if you aren't careful. The knife blade included is a bit chintzy, and makes it so I can't carry these in a place that doesn't allow knives. You can remove it, but that requires the proper tools. I wear these (with the knife blade removed) to places that don't allow knives. Even if I could carry it with the knife blade I would consider it a con, as it opens at an awkward angle so it isn't all that useful anyway.

Solid alternative to Raptors
Scissor edges are very sharp, and can be easily opened with one hand due to a lack of any kind of lock. This may be a benefit or drawback, I liked it. Having the extra tools gives me a "2 birds, one stone" feeling with regards to also carrying a multitool. The tools are thoughtfully positioned around the shears. Lastly, they're lighter than Raptors as well as less expensive.

Awesome Alternative to Leatherman Raptors
As a paramedic over 15 years, I definitely have gone through my fair share of shears,(as any of us who have time on the job) and these by far lighter than any of the Raptor shears I’ve been through. Granted, I’m partial to kydex holsters due to leatherman- the pouch it comes with is molle compatible. Due to the structural function of the open-close fold motion being slightly exposed, I hope it remains sturdy like their competitors. Great wash off when dealing with BBP and hasn’t gone corrosive yet due to environmental wear and sanitation protocols. Worth the money

Very nice
Bought this to replace the Leatherman Raptor I lost. It is different. What I like about it is that it is not as top heavy as the raptor. It is missing the oxygen tank wrench and the lanyard hole vs the raptor, but has a nicer scissors, and has the addition of tweezers, screwdrivers, awl, and tiny blade. It has a flip out glassbreaker. I think this is overall a more useful tool than the Raptor.

Updated Version.
This product was better than I expected, updated from early product release, has now got pocket clip, pull out tools at correct angle, unlike original , I would recommend, especially with 40% off as I did.

Pouch Error
Pouch did not have the MACV-SOG emblem on the pullout tab, other than that everything else is solid
