Babaji: The Lightning Standing Still (Special Abridged Edition)

Siddhanath is a Master of Kriya Yoga his talks are very impressive....this is a little different and not the easiest of reads without some background of Him and what he teaches....I have not read the book completely yet but not disappointed. The autoboigraphy of a Yogi is a good first read (highly recommended) and by far one of the best books I have. There is much to be gained from both books. I would not rate this with 6 stars but limitless stars as the content is not rateable in that sense.

An excellent book. It takes several readings to extract the teachings in this book. Who is Babaji? The author tells who is not Babaji. Then points the way to Babaji. He also gives a practise template for kriya yoga and explains other techniques for self transformation. He speaks as one who knows and practises what he talks about.

Very well written, and easy to understand. For the uninitiated, this is a gentle introduction. For the yogi, there are hidden gems to discover. I bought the abridged edition which is a shortened version of the original. I would recommend for all TRUTH seekers. Shiva Shakti AUM...

This book blew me away, but also caused more questions, in my heart. I've been a devotee of Babaji since Yogananda appeared to me in 1971 during a near death experience. I have written all about my experiences with Mahavatar Babaji and India in my inspirational memoir, Still Singing, Somehow . I personally feel that author Yogiraj Siddhanath has not read "Sri Babaji Immortal Yogi of the Himalayas" by Romola Butalia, "Hariakhan Baba Known, Unknown" by Baba Hari Dass or "I Am Harmony" by Radhe Shyam. If he had, he may realize that old Haidakhan Babaji is Thee Babaji of Yogananda's book and totally related to Babaji Goraksha. When my house burned down in 1987, the cover photo of old Haidakhan Babaji from Hari Dass's book did not burn up, along with a set of brass cymbals given to me by a friend who got them from the 1970 Haidakhan Babaji. After 40 years of literally reading everything I could find on Babaji, I feel in my heart that both versions of Haidakhan Babaji are the true Babaji, reflections of Goraksha Babaji. He manifested this way for devotees who needed to see Him in the flesh, not on some astral realm. As was mentioned twice in Yogananda's book, Babaji has the same facial features as Lahiri Mahasaya. Old Haidakhan Babaji has the same face! As few now can find the time and discipline required to really focus on meditation, Babaji said the new Kriya is the mantra Om Namaha Shivaya. He is a grosser, denser version for modern man. The Babaji that our author describes few ever see, unless you are a very advanced yogi. I felt too that there was way too much repetition of the same info in this book. It borders on the Urantia Book at times, with all of the cosmic realms mentioned that are so far beyond the scope of human comprehension. Who cares? Does any of that stuff really matter? "A Course In Miracles" makes much more sense out of it all in many ways, to me anyway. I'm sure Babaji penned the Course too, as He is behind everything on earth that happens, has happened or will happen! He is The Eternal Now. Please read the other books mentioned above, if your heart really seeks to know and understand more about Mahavatar Babaji. And please know that I do really respect the author but I feel there is always more to the story with Babaji; that has been my experience with Him!

Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath writes from a poetic realm where the intellect and intuition intersect. Brilliant and Awe Inspiring.The historical relevance of this book contains makes it a must read. Although I haven't yet finished this book, I'm enjoying and connecting with it, having had some exposure to what Mr. Siddhanath discusses. However, there is so much Sanskrit terminology, cosmology and referencing densely packed into it on nearly every page, it makes for slow reading. Since I had read Autobiography of a Yogi, by Paramahansa Yogananda decades ago, at least some of this material is familiar to me. However, for anyone not familiar with this subject, it might be a daunting task to read and comprehend. So if you're a newcomer -- good luck, though it still might be worthwhile. And one last thing, I noticed some typos here and there throughout the book, which as a professional proofreader sort of irks me, though it might not bother others.

I found this book very interesting, and hard to put down. Although I found it necessary to put it down from time to time so I could fully absorb the teachings. Yogiraj has done a wonderful job in sharing information about Babaji.

A full understanding of the essence of this book requires some prior knowledge of Hinduism, Avatars and Gurus. It delves into the intricate relationships between various deities and Babaji and highlights the importance of Kriya Yoga in one's spiritual pursuit. I have read only the Special Abridged Edition. It requires rereading a few times to get a complete understanding. I would highly recommend it for those interested in Kriya Yoga.
