Safe Heart IOX Smart Pulse Oximeter for Android and iPhone - Version 2

Operation of the oximeter is erratic. It shows drops in SpO2 which, if accurate, would indicate that I was briefly dead several times. Version 2.1 of the IOS version of the software is an improvement over the original version and recording of data is now automatic. Making the device use Bluetooth instead of the microphone/speaker jack would be a better solution to the connectivity issue. I would send it back if I could.

Oxygen levels measure close to real but heart rate is all over the place. I bought for sleep measuring but can't depend on the findings. The app is fine and it can be emailed to you and is broken down in two second intervals per time used. Easy to read but again the heart rate is suspect.

This is a highly frustrating product with clear flaws and outright bugs. I am an electrical engineer and can see that very little debug went into this product .1. The product did not work via ear phone jack as announced.2.It also caused sharp audio kicks if you try to plug in while listening to music.3. The recording did not start by itself.4. It also randomly skipped saving data.5. When the device exits due to battery life it did not save the data.All in all save your money and time !!

I love to go on long runs wherever I am and my job takes me all over the world. The problem is with asthma, it's a little scary to run without understanding my limits. I know I get tired but within the runner's high, I can sometimes lose myself and not remember when enough is enough.So I bought this Safe Heart IOX Smart Pulse Oximeter and I'm ecstatic.It monitors not only my blood oxygen levels but my heart and respiration rates as well. It sends me an alert if I ever hit those unsafe levels or if for any reason it isn't receiving information. I can run for hours with this thing on as after a few minutes you barely feel it. It's light, comfortable, and best of all it plugs into either headphone or my Micro USB jack and is powered by the phone. Meanwhile, it constantly records readings and keeps them together for me so I can review later where I may have peaked or stalled. While it does power through the jacks on your phone, the amount of battery it takes is so minimal it's barely noticeable.It is literally the perfect running gadget for anyone who needs to keep an eye on themselves, and really great for anyone else who might want to.I couldn't be happier!

Maybe some people just cannot figure out how to use an Oximeter. It looks easy, but if you don't insert the finger correctly it may be erratic. Or if you have it upside down, hold it above your head, it may be erratic. The device arrived on time and worked out of the box. At first, I thought it was erratic but after correcting my finger position it seemed okay. I measured it's reading against my other oximeter and they seemed to be in sync. Most measure heart rate accurately, but oxygen can vary.The only issue I found was that the iPhone uses the earphone jack and if someone calls, you have to unplug the device before answering. I'm not sure about the Android since it uses a different cable. The device also measures PI (Perfusion Index - the strength of the arterial pulse) and Res (Number of breaths per minute). I'm not sure where these fit in. What are the standard for PI and Res readings? The history shows up as a graph to give readings over time. You can also email the readings. I'm not sure how long the iPhone retains the history.I've been using it with my iPhone for three days now and do not have a problem.

Totally incompetent design: unstable readings, glitchy software, excessive power drain. With this device connected, you can almost see the phone battery indicator dropping. The back of the phone even gets warm. I compare this to another fingertip pulse oximeter I bought for $15, that has two AAA cells that have hours and hours of use on them, and the device even has a built-in display, which this Safe Heart thing doesn't. You won't be able to leave your charger and walk around collecting data, because it will kill your phone battery.The readings are unstable. In the hour I've spent with it, I've seen it go from 89% to 100% SpO2 in the course of 15 seconds, while I was sitting quietly. I'm returning it today. Save yourself a wasted trip to UPS and don't buy it in the first place!
