An accessible and reassuring guide to childhood health and immunity from a pediatrician who's both knowledgeable about the latest scientific research and respectful of a family's risk factors, health history, and concerns In The Vaccine-Friendly Plan, Paul Thomas, M.D., presents his proven approach to building immunity: a new protocol that limits a child's exposure to aluminum, mercury, and other neurotoxins while building overall good health. Based on the results from his pediatric practice of more than eleven thousand children, as well as data from other credible and scientifically minded medical doctors, Dr. Paul's vaccine-friendly protocol gives readers - recommendations for a healthy pregnancy and childbirth - vital information about what to expect at every well child visit from birth through adolescence - a slower, evidence-based vaccine schedule that calls for only one aluminum-containing shot at a time - important questions to ask about your child's first few weeks, first years, and beyond - advice about how to talk to health care providers when you have concerns - the risks associated with opting out of vaccinations - a practical approach to common illnesses throughout the school years - simple tips and tricks for healthy eating and toxin-free living at any age The Vaccine-Friendly Plan presents a new standard for pediatric care, giving parents peace of mind in raising happy, healthy children. Praise for The Vaccine-Friendly Plan "Finally, a book about vaccines that respects parents! If you choose only one book to read on the topic, read The Vaccine-Friendly Plan . This impeccably researched, well-balanced book puts you in the driver's seat and empowers you to make conscientious vaccine decisions for your family." --Peggy O'Mara, editor and publisher, Mothering Magazine "Sure to appeal to readers of all kinds as a friendly, no-nonsense book that cuts through the rhetoric surrounding vaccines. It offers validation to those who avoid some or all, while offering those who do want to vaccinate help on how to do so safely. This is a great book for anyone with children in their lives." -- Natural Mother "A valuable, science-supported guide to optimizing your child's health while you navigate through complex choices in a toxic, challenging world." --Martha Herbert, M.D., Ph.D., Harvard Medical School "An impressively researched guide, this important book is essential reading for parents. With clear and practical advice for shielding children from harmful toxins, it will compel us all to think differently about how to protect health." --Jay Gordon, M.D., FAAP "Rather than a one-size-fits-all vaccine strategy, the authors suggest thoughtful, individualized decisions based on research and collaboration between parents and clinicians--a plan to optimize a child's immune system and minimize any risks." --Elizabeth Mumper, M.D., founder and CEO, The Rimland Center for Integrative Pediatrics "This well-written and thought-provoking book will encourage parents to think through decisions--such as food choices and the timing of vaccines--that affect the well-being of their children. In a world where children's immune systems are increasingly challenged, this is a timely addition to the literature." --Harriet Lerner, Ph.D., bestselling author of The Dance of Anger and The Mother Dance Review: This book was everything I hoped it would be, and so much more! - I just finished reading this whole book, and I'd give it more than five stars if that were an option. As a mom of two young boys, I wish this book had been published when I was pregnant with my first son, because I would have done so much differently. It's not just another book on vaccines. While it has incredible information about vaccines and his take on childhood vaccine schedule in this country, it is so much more than a book about vaccinations. In fact, even if someone decides to fully vaccinate after reading this book (which would surprise me), they're still going to learn a ton to help their child (and themselves) lead a healthier life if they follow even an ounce of the advice Dr. Paul Thomas and Jennifer Margulis provide in this book. I originally wanted to read this because I wanted to hear more about vaccines. I don't blindly follow the CDC schedule. After much research, I evaluate each vaccine separately, delay some, and reject some all together, so I thought this book would provide me even further direction with that. And it didn't let me down! I had read The Vaccine Book, but this book was SO much more helpful since it's a comprehensive book that discusses individual vaccinations in depth, but also a child's immunity, health, well-being, and happiness. Every pediatrician and future pediatrician should read this. For example, it makes sense that Dr. Paul Thomas recommends getting your child's titers checked with a blood test before kindergarten instead of giving a second dose of the MMR vaccine. 98% of his patients showed immunity to measles when their blood was tested, so they didn't need a second dose. Why inject someone with more toxins when not needed, especially when a titer test showing immunity is accepted for school entry. If you're the type that likes to read the "What to Expect..." series books (What to Expect the First Year, Toddler Years, etc.), you'll find that this book includes everything you'd read in those books and more. The book has sections on everything from breastfeeding to infant milestones, ideas to help your child eat healthy, and the importance of play. And while I don't yet have teenagers, I love that he wrote a whole section on what doctors talk about with teenagers when their parents are out of the room. I'll definitely be referring to this book for many years to come! I also felt like I got to be a fly on the wall during pediatrician appointments. Pediatricians do so much more than I ever imagined, and I now have even more respect for anyone in that profession! After I started reading it, I bought two extra copies and gave them away to friends. I'll be buying a few more in the next several weeks and giving them away as well. It's an invaluable resource, an easy read, an enjoyable read, and I'll go so far as to say it's probably the most useful and important book I've bought in my life. Buy it and read it. You won't be disappointed! Review: Important information for any new parent - A valuable source of truth and honesty about raising a healthy child in today's world. A must read book if you want to be able to make the best decisions about health care for your child. This book gives you the knowledge and facts so that you can make your own choices with confidence and know you're doing what is safest for your child. Dr. Paul is amazing and I'm so thankful for this book and what I've learned.

Good guidance on vaccines, medicine, and other childraising advice
I wish we'd discovered this book before we had our first child. It's been incredibly helpful. In summary, Dr. Paul presents an alternate vaccine schedule that spreads things out so that your child isn't being inundated with aluminum and other toxic chemicals in his or her first months of life. He also offers suggestions for vaccines that may be safe to skip depending on your risk factors. He always presents the pros and cons, offering guidance that you can tailor based on family medical history, international travel, etc. Besides vaccines, he also offers advice on OTC medicine, nursing, and the home environment. Again, I wished we'd seen this before we had our first child. I think we would have been better off if we hadn't said "yes" to everything, assuming that doctors wouldn't recommend something that could potentially be unsafe.

A Child and Family Friendly Healthcare System
The two authors, Dr. Paul Thomas, M.D. and Dr. Jennifer Margulis Ph.D. from Oregon have written the most child friendly health care book in decades. Their data, narratives and professional recommendations are based on sound science and 30 years of experience by Dr. Thomas with his pediatrician practice. Their citations are thorough and as comprehensive as would be expected from a paper in a Global Science Journal As the title illustrates, " The Vaccine-Friendly Plan", both authors have sound advice on which vaccinations, and at what time in each child's developmental journey, they should be administered. Along with lots of humor-filled, common sense respectful advice from a pediatrician on how to deal with babies as well as adolescents. It is remarkable to read that an MD is willing to tell young mothers and fathers that each child is unique, and may not have an immune system that can tolerate the massive vaccination schedules currently recommended by our regulatory CDC system. They are very specific about sharing data and information about reported adverse reactions that many children have experienced between 1980 and 2020 from current vaccine schedules. According to authors, most fathers and mothers do not know that the CDC only recommended 11-12 childhood vaccinations in 1983, and that today they recommend circa 59 different 'shots' and a medley of mixtures of different virus before a child is 18 years of age (Appendix B). Nor do young parents know that most vaccines come with a plethora of ingredients to preserve the vaccines' shelf-life; Aluminum, mercury, methanol, formaldehyde, thimerosal, polysorbate 80, propylene glycol and more - all with solid history of having high incidences of both short-term and long-term accumulative health risks (P. 18 lists amount of Aluminum in all current vaccines). It is common knowledge in Education that a growing cohort of school children in Western countries, especially boys, have, and are experiencing, learning and behavior issues that are tragically impacting the lives of these students as well as their families. The so-far puzzling correlation between the growth of autism spectrum and ADHD, according to authors, barely appear in children authors have supported with their Vaccine-Friendly Health care plan. In the interest of fairness, the authors and many parents have been desperate to protect their children, and mainstream MDs, according to authors, would do well to, at least, listen to the data, and to voice support for a national longitudinal control group to monitor and compare health profiles of children whose families have followed more cautious vaccination schedules with the traditional one-plan-fits-all-our-young children. They are definitely not against basic vaccination schedules, but they do cite, for example, that the HPV vaccines have been banned by Japanese Health Ministry, as well been raising concerns in Israel, and a strong comment by Utah's Southwest Public Health Department that "the risks outweigh any benefits and that it is eroding the public's trust in vaccines (p277). This book is a terrific gift idea for any expectant mother and father.

It's a good read to understand the arguments surrounding a sensitive topic.
I recently had the opportunity to read The Vaccine-Friendly Plan by Dr. Paul Thomas, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for me as a parent navigating the complex world of vaccinations. Dr. Paul's approach is refreshing, well-researched, and deeply compassionate, providing an alternative perspective on vaccination that is both informative and empowering. First and foremost, what sets this book apart is its emphasis on personalized, informed decision-making when it comes to vaccines. Dr. Paul acknowledges that every child is unique, with different health needs and susceptibilities, and his approach reflects this understanding. Instead of adopting a one-size-fits-all mentality, he advocates for a customized vaccination plan that takes into account a child's individual health history, family medical history, and risk factors. One of the most compelling aspects of The Vaccine-Friendly Plan is Dr. Paul's thorough exploration of vaccine ingredients and potential side effects. He delves into the science behind vaccines, offering clear explanations of how they work and what risks they may pose. By presenting this information in an accessible manner, he empowers parents to make informed decisions about their child's health, rather than simply relying on blanket recommendations. Dr. Paul provides practical guidance on how to implement a vaccine-friendly approach in partnership with healthcare providers. He offers valuable tips on how to communicate effectively with doctors, advocate for your child's health needs, and navigate the sometimes challenging conversations surrounding vaccination. What I appreciate most about this book is its balanced and evidence-based approach. Dr. Paul doesn't advocate for blanket vaccine refusal; rather, he encourages thoughtful consideration of each vaccine and its potential risks and benefits. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining an open dialogue with healthcare providers and making decisions based on the best available evidence. The Vaccine-Friendly Plan is a must-read for any parent who wants to take a proactive and informed approach to their child's health. Dr. Paul's compassionate guidance, thorough research, and practical advice make this book an invaluable resource for navigating the complex world of vaccinations. I wholeheartedly recommend it to parents who are seeking a well-rounded perspective on this important topic.

This should be in every household raising children!
This book I bought for my daughter n law and so I just skimmed through it when I got it. But I must say the parts I did read were very informative. I wish this was available to me when I was raising my kids. But glad that this is available now for the grandchildren. I think every mother and grandmother should read this book! When we are in the doctors office there is soo much being thrown at you that it can be very intimidating. Reading this book and having the knowledge before hand is very helpful and would be less intimidating when you take your baby/babies to the pediatrician. But most of all having the knowledge about these vaccines that are pushed on you, to CHOOSE which vaccine to take and NOT to take is the most important and valuable information you can have and do for your loved ones.

The statistics speak for themselves
The Appendix E of this book really tells you all you need to know: A team of researchers have been reviewing and tabulating the health outcomes 2,230 children over age two and under age seven who were patients at my clinic, Integrative Pediatrics, from June 2008 (which is when my clinic first opened) to February 2015. We are in the process of compiling this data for a retrospective study approved by Western Institutional Review Board. We are examining incidence of autism, developmental delays, hospitalization a, infectious diseases, and sick visits. The following data is preliminary but serves to answer one key question: Does Dr Paul's Vaccine-Friendly Plan help reduce the incidence of autism? Patients were divided into three groups as follows: Group 1: Following Dr Paul's Vaccine-Friendly Plan: These children were either born into my practice of established care by the two month well baby visit. They did not get the birth or the infant hepatitis B vaccine. If they got the hepatitis A vaccine, it was after age two. If they got the MMR and the chicken pox vaccines, it was at or after age three. There were 1,098 children in Group 1. Group 2: Unvaccinated: Because of parental choice, these children had no vaccines. There were 238 children in Group 2. Group 3: Other/Most Vaccinated: Though there was some individual variability, many children in Group 3 were vaccinated according to CDC guidelines. There were 894 children in Group 3. Group Total Autism/ASD Rate 1 1,098 0 0 2 238 0 0 3 894 15 1/60 Using the previous CDC autism rate of one in fifty, we would have expected approximately twenty-two cases of autism in Group 1, but there were no autism or ASD (autism spectrum disorder) diagnoses. We would have expected to have approximately four cases of autism in Group 2, but there were no autism or ASD diagnoses. We would have expected to have approximately seventeen cases of autism in Group 3, and there are fifteen autism/ASD diagnoses, which mirrors the national average. This data demonstrates with a high level of statistical significance that the Vaccine-Friendly Plan - as well as not vaccinating at all - was associated with less autism/ASD.

Vaccination Education Tool
Even though this is an American book I would recommend to every new parent or prospective parent to educate yourself about what is in the vaccines and what this might mean for your child. The author has a lifetime of experience which is now multigenerational experience to observe families and the children that are having adverse reactions to these vaccines. He discusses vaccination from birth through to adulthood in a very not medical way that is easy to understand
