Sleek Looking HO Passenger Cars
I recently got back into model railroading after a roughly 20-year hiatus and needed some fresh Amtrak equipment to add to my fleet and Bachmann's Silver Series Amfleet cars fit the bill well. Sure, they aren't quite on the level of detail as the Walthers Proto Amfleet cars, but the Bachmann cars can be had for roughly half the price here on Amazon. Dont get me wrong, the Bachmann Amfleets are very nicely detailed and are greatly improved from past offerings from Bachmann. The latest run of these cars in Amtrak's "Phase IVb" scheme look great, they have correct prototypical numbering and lettering, detailed interiors, and some great interior lighting. The only drawback, which is not a flaw of the manufacturer, is that they are not very free rolling. This is more due to the design of the trucks that prototype Amfleet cars use, which in the model railroad world these trucks are prone to additional friction compared to conventional trucks found on other types of cars. A little Labelle oil on the axles now and then helps with this. Overall, I am very satisfied with these cars - I think they look great, they run well with other cars, and they are a fair price.

The best ready to role, lit Amfleet car.
These things just rock. For the money you can’t find a better Amfleet.
