Can this be used in melt and pour soaps?

Melt and pour soap is already soap, meaning it has already gone through sapoinifcation. There are few things you can safely add to it and anything you add besides color and fragrance isn't going to incorporate into it, in my opinion it would be a waste of product. This is great for cold process soap to make unmolding easier. If you are making your melt and pour from scratch it may be useful though I don't know as I have never made it. Hope this helps.

Is this considered natural?

Sodium lactate occurs naturally but can and probably is synthesized commercially.

Can I use this in my diy hair products?

Yes, however glycerin has higher humectant qualities than sodium lactate does. I wouldn't use it at anything higher than 0.5 to 3%. The higher the percentage used the higher the sun sensitivity can be.

Can I use the in my lotion?

I don’t see why not. I currently use it in cp soaps, but it’s a great humectant so go ahead!
