Most children’s rod and reel combos are crap. I bought a decent Mr Crappie rod for my son to use, and while the rod is fantastic, the reels wore out quickly. As I have good experience with the new 33s, I figured that this little reel would do the trick. Operates smoothly, casts like a dream and is easy for a 5-6 year old to handle. The line it comes with is ok. Everyone has their preferred brands, and I suggest respooling with fresh 2-4lb test sooner rather than later. These metal bodied Zebcos can take a beating, I recommend them heartily.

It hasn't worked right since day one . I just forgot to say anything about it to you guys. Every time I cast my pole it cuts my line I've used 3 different kinds of line even braided line an it cut it like a knife through butter. An it really upsetting 😡. Cause it's my 1st yr to get outdoors due my passed illness. I wasn't able to use them till now. I really hope 🙏 pray that you guys can find it in your hearts to just replace it that's all I ask. I'm lucky to even be a live today. I beat the disease of addiction going on 4yrs sober I love my life and being able to do the things I couldn't before. God bless me with a 2nd chance of life.

On the third cast the back cap and thumb bar exploded. This reel is junk. Don’t waste your money. All plastic and fell apart within 10 minutes.

It's a zebco 33 work great, use it crappie fishing and works great

I use ultralight rod and reels a good bit in my ponds I put this one to test this past weekend caught about 30 large bull bream and shell cracker that were bedding. Reel throws really good every once in a while it’ll get the little kink you have to pull out and rethrow but over all it did a really good job handling what I put it through. Casting is pretty smooth I did notice after a while the reel started doing a little bump bump bump when retrieving but nothing serious. The line held up good for me in the brush I was dragging fish out of. Overall I’m happy with it and ordering a second one to build another set up.
