Great for touching up small rust spots
Although I'm usually very careful to keep my Lodge cast iron properly seasoned I did find that when I stored some pans in a closed cupboard with very little air circulation a few rust spots appeared on one or two of my pans. This eraser is great for removing these and with a quick rub down of grapeseed oil and a hour in the oven at 240c (465F) the rust disappeared. Have since moved my pans to a heavy duty steel racking system that stands in the open in my kitchen. The eraser won't get used that often but it will be my first port of call if required.

My cast iron pan is like new!
I have a heavy cast iron pan that is brilliant for cooking. Unfortunately during a hectic time in life we neglected the pan and it started to rust. This got worse until we did not feel comfortable to use the pan. I searched online for advice and products and stumbled across this eraser. I was not dissapointed. It was so simple to use and within minutes all the rust was gone and I was able to reseason the pan which is now like new. I only used up a small amount of the bar to do this so I expect it would be able to be used many times before another would be needed. The speed and ease or erasing the rust was amazing. This really is a brilliant product and I would highly recommend.

This powerful solution is a game-changer for anyone looking to restore the shine and functionality of their beloved cast iron pans and pots. I recently discovered Lodge Rust Remover, and it’s been a lifesaver for reviving my old and neglected cookware. With just a few simple steps, this solution effortlessly removes rust, baked-on food residue, and other tough stains, leaving my cast iron looking as good as new. What I love most about Lodge Rust Remover is its effectiveness and ease of use. Simply apply the solution to the affected areas, let it work its magic for a short period, and then scrub away the rust and grime with ease. The results are truly impressive – my cookware looks restored to its former glory with minimal effort required. Not only does Lodge Rust Remover excel in performance, but it’s also safe and environmentally friendly. Made from biodegradable ingredients, it’s a responsible choice for those conscious of their environmental impact.

If you own cast iron, you know that despite your best efforts, a little surface rust eventually happens—whether someone left it in the sink or you didn't dry it quite enough after a wash. I’ve used steel wool in the past, but the Lodge Rust Eraser is much easier to control and way less messy. Why it works: • Simple to Use: It’s made of silicon carbide and rubber, and it works exactly like a pencil eraser. You just rub it over the dry rust spots, and they disappear into a fine powder. • Precision: The rectangular shape and sharp corners make it easy to get into the tight edges of a skillet or the grooves of a grill pan where rust likes to hide. • Versatile: While it's marketed for Lodge pans, I've used it to touch up kitchen knives and workshop tools with great results. Things to watch out for: • Re-seasoning Required: Because this is an abrasive, it will take the rust down to the bare iron. You must re-oil and season the spot (or the whole pan) immediately after using it to prevent the rust from coming right back. • Cold Use Only: Don’t try to use this while the pan is still hot from the stove; let it cool completely first. • It Disintegrates: Just like a regular eraser, it wears down as you use it. If you have a massive restoration project (like a crusty barn find), you might go through a good chunk of the bar. Final Verdict: For under $10, it's a "must-have" for your kitchen drawer. It saves so much time compared to a full strip-and-restore. It’s perfect for those cosmetic touch-ups that keep your heirlooms looking new.
