I made some beautiful mulberry mead using the jug and now it holds my cane sugar. Good sturdy jars and everything fit well.

This my my favorite jug to make mead in easy to add extras to the brew.

Great design, good quality jar, exactly as described & a stupendous value! Great for beginners yet versatile enough for those a bit more advanced. This is an excellent product except for ONE thing! The nifty gas release is very hard to clean &/or sterilize. It is plastic & a thin plastic that cracks easily. With gentle use this will last many years however & the lid + vent is relpacable...which is exactly what I don't like. I'd rather have something sturdier & not plastic. The design is awesome at keeping insects out. I live where there is ALWAYS a problem species on rotating years, lots of dust, dirt, animals, etc & I haven't had a single contaminated batch in over 6 months! Tiny white flies even get trapped yet CANNOT get in! I've never had an overflow issue with vigorous fermentation either, which has caused some HUGE messes! I say 4.8* to the invention!

Like others have said, the hole in the lid is hand drilled and not precise. However, I couldn't have done a better job drilling a lid my self, and the product comes with the proper gasket (which you have to install yourself). The water lock is a passable cheap plastic. I bought this for the jar, which is great. Wide mouth, easy to fill and empty. For the price, you get value.

I bought this to help process ~ 50# of kraut cabbage into sauerkraut. It's more economical than the all-glass crocks, and seems to work well. I needed to set it on a plate with a towel during the first week of fermenting to absorb extra fluid. When finished, it was easy to then remove the airlock and clean it. Fermentation went fine. The kraut is nice and tart. Overall, this is not fancy, but it is a cost-saving way to do veggie fermentation.

Glass jar and cap is perfect, the airlock sucks. it broke on first use right where the stem and the bubbler meets.

Like previous reviewers, I ended up with a broken airlock. This is 100% a packaging issue - in the broken one it was actually underneath the bottle in the box. Whoever’s charged with putting these together for shipping should really be placing the airlocks *inside* the bottles, instead of on the outside. They have bubble wrap but that won’t protect them from the jar squishing it. Other than that it seems a solid enough little set, there’s a separate disc of plastic under the lid held by the grommet that might have issues for cleaning later, but I won’t know for sure until I start using it and get to racking in a few weeks. For the discounted price I got, I’m happy enough.
