Booby Moon is a beautifully illustrated rhyming storybook specifically designed to emotionally support both mother and child for weaning from breastfeeding. Weaning doesn’t have to be all tears, tantrums and heart ache. It can be an exciting, heartwarming, and beautiful experience to treasure. A chance to celebrate a milestone reached, honour the journey thus far and acknowledge this special time for both mother and child. Most weaning storybooks introduce the concept that breastfeeding will be ending soon. Booby Moon does that, but so much more. It gives toddlers: A magical story they connect with. A celebration to look forward to. Evidence of Booby Milk leaving. A beautiful ritual to help them say goodbye. In the same way that the Tooth Fairy makes children happy about their teeth falling out, looking forward to seeing Booby-milk-magic fly away to Booby Moon can give the same wondrous joy to a weaning toddler. Our experience using Booby Moon for weaning our boob-mad 2-year-old was incredible. After we said goodbye to Booby Milk, he simply accepted that it was gone. He still asked for it occasionally but whenever he did we reminded him of how we had let it go and there were no complaints, no pleading, no tears. Instead, excitement and joy would rush to his little face and he would say, “Yeah, I let go! And Booby went shhhhheewww up to the moon!” Booby Moon is special because it has a magical element that appeals to the child and also sets up a beautiful ritual to complete the breastfeeding journey. Studies show the practice of ritual during times of loss alleviates grief, makes us feel closer to our families and helps us to say goodbye. The ritual aspect of the Booby Moon process helps mother and toddler find an easeful acceptance for Booby Milk going away – with the child seeing the magic leave with their own eyes. The story also brings comfort post weaning, offering reassurance that the relationship continues; you can still wave up to Booby Moon and Mumma will still be here to offer love, cuddles and comfort. Look up to the moon, isn’t it amazing? Doesn’t it seem magical already? Half the work is done for us right there. Book also includes a gentle-parenting user guide that covers: how to wean using Booby Moon, night weaning prior, breaking the fed-to-sleep habit and various options for a meaningful goodbye ritual. The concept was created in 2020 by a breastfeeding mother who was ready to wean but could not find a children's book on the market that offered her toddler an upside to their impending loss. Using the 'Booby Moon' story was such an easy and beautiful experience that it needs to be shared with parents around the world. Suitable age range: Toddlers. 18months - 4 years. *Book features an illustration of a mother cuddling her toddler to sleep instead of nursing them at night (bed-sharing). **Book also features depiction of a balloon release - please search for "Booby Moon with Bubbles" if you'd prefer the new edition which features eco-friendly bubbles depicted instead. ***Books are printed on demand by desertcart. My toddler is obsessed! Beautiful story, fun to read, stunning illustrations!
We got this book a few weeks before we started weaning (at 21 months old). She immediately loved this book. And weaning went really smoothly, we think, partly because of this book. We weaned about 4 weeks ago and she still asks us to ready this book multiple times per day. I am sick of it, but its really helping her make sense of everything so we keep reading. Also she's never been this excited about ANY book before, so from a literacy stand point - this book is a big win for us! Even my almost 5 year old is starting to say the lines with me from memory (the rhymes help with that!). Highly recommend!

So helpful!
This is a beautiful book which helped me wean my last baby. I wasn't sure how to go about it and had a lot of emotions regarding weaning and this book helped put those anxieties at ease by giving me a plan! The story is so sweet, well written and the illustrations are beautiful. There's a part in the back for parents giving suggestions on how to use the book for successful gentle weaning which so aligned with our parenting philosophy. I knew I was ready when I could read the part where they both let the magic go and didn't sob! Haha. My baby nursed for 2 years 7 months and the ritual of sending it back to the moon was a tangible event we could talk about when he felt the urge to nurse. He felt really proud of himself and would exclaim, "Back to the moon!" And point up at the sky. We modified the ritual (because helium is too expensive lol) and put glow sticks in a balloon and blew it up, tied it to a place positioned within sight of the moon and I told him "Once all the light fades from the balloon, that means all the magic has returned to the moon!" My older child also enjoyed this ritual and added to the excitement. It also have him a narrative about his weaning process too (he self weaned when I got pregnant with my second). They both enjoyed the book and this ritual so much and I can't recommend this enough! We modified the story to fit our language around nursing , so instead of booby moon/booby milk we called it milky moon/milky milk.

Must-have book for weaning
This book was amazing. It made weaning our toddler so much easier and it created such a special memory for us. It’s been well over a year now since we weaned and my child still asks to read Booby Moon every once in a while. I can’t recommend this book enough to any mamas out there with a baby or toddler who is very reliant on breastfeeding. We thought the process would be so difficult, but this book made it so much easier.

Actually worked
I never thought I would get my toddler to stop nursing. She was obsessed. But after a few weeks of reading this story, talking and preparing, we sent the magic milk to the moon with bubbles and she handled it SO surprisingly well.Story requires your own adjustments unless fitting (birthday bit). Some pages aren't printed as vibrant. But the story in itself is sweet and helpful.

Weaning book for toddlers
Although I opted to return the book, I recognize the author and team worked hard to publish this book. The book is excellent for the weaning journey with a toddler. It has a weaning story and a “booby moon” celebration explanation and “Are you ready to wean?” Section. However, I returned it because I thought it would have more than one celebration example in it. Otherwise it’s a good wearing read for a toddler.

10000/10 for weaning
This book saved me for weaning. She still talks about how mommas booby went to the booby moon. Highly recommend this book. She still wants to read it nightly

Highly recommend 10/10
This book is beautifully written for mom and child. I tried a few different books with my 2 yr old and this is the only weaning one that stuck. My favorite part is that it has a special balloon release ceremony, which turns something that might feel sad into something magical-like the tooth fairy. I think it’s best for a child turning 2 or older. I started reading it to my child around turning 2 and as the book shows their birthday tied in with the occasion, I correlated it with the following birthday-so we spent nearly a year enjoying the book leading up to the the big day. Additionally, the book offers some journaling type pages in it and some weaning tips for mom!

Great book for weaning toddlers
The only thing that helped my child wean by her 3rd birthday. Great little story that is easy for them to understand. Would recommend for 2 year and older. I always recommend this sweet book. Brought me to tears the first few times while reading it

Nice Concept
Nice concept and bought this to wean my toddler. Eventhough she took her own time to wean, thai book gave her some ideas about kids stop having breastmilk gradually and they find comfort in other things or it's okay kinda message. She was not emotionally ready to wean during that time. So I let her continue. But gradually everytime I remind her about this story and it helped later

Fantastic support to weaning
I cannot recommend this book enough! It turned something I was dreading in to a lovely memory making experience for me and my little one.Building up to my daughter’s 2nd birthday I had decided I wanted to wean her. She was still waking through the night to feed and had a very strong association with feeding and sleep. I was very apprehensive about weaning her!I started reading booby moon 3 weeks prior to when we intended to stop. She loved the story and asked to read it multiple times a day (something she’s never done before) before long she was joining in with the story and finishing off the sentences. She started talking about booby moon throughout the day and I would repeat the sentiment that after her birthday booby milk would fly away to the moon.I started by night weaning and told her booby milk is asleep and won’t wake up. She was quite upset by this for about 7 days then would quietly accept a cup of milk instead.By the 3 weeks she had a very strong understanding of what was going to happen. She said, “after my birthday booby milk fly away in sky.”We followed the books suggestions and we had last booby and then we found the moon through the window and instead of releasing a balloon we blew a handful of glitter in to the sky. I bought her a colour changing moon lamp and told her it was a present from booby moon. She absolutely loves it.She has not once asked for booby milk since. She regularly talks about booby moon and talks about blowing booby milk in to the sky. But she has not been upset or even asked for booby milk at all since! Last night (about 2 weeks after weaning) she said, “little babies have booby milk tonight.” A Version of the line from the book.Since weaning she’s started sleeping through the night which is absolutely unheard of for her having only had about 5 nights where she’s slept through combined in her 2 years prior!I was very emotional about weaning and booby moon is an emotional read. But it not only helped my daughter to emotionally prepare for the next step but myself! By the time we were ready to say bye bye to booby milk I felt ready too.An amazing book and I cannot rate it high enough! Thank you thank you thank you!
