These were the very first harnesses that I bought for my cat. They were great for training them as kittens. I did not have any issues with them breaking free of them and the fits were good.

I'm giving it a 4 star because the issue is not with the harness and leash. This is a really well put together harness and leash set. Good stitching. Sturdy, strong velcro closures. strong leash. But, It did not work for us, as our very clever, Houdini cat was out of it in about 25 seconds. She has learned from other differently designed harnesses that all she has to do is simply put her paw up in between the neck part and wormed her way out of it by stepping backwards. Tried it on 3 times, as soon as it arrived. Each time a little tighter without choking her. Each time she was out of it faster than the last! I am glad we did not take her outside with it.

I’ve owned several cats and have always trained them on a leash with a harness. Had a difficult time finding a harness that fit them well and looked comfortable, plus they couldn’t escape from. I’ve actually gone to the extent of having a shoe repair company make harnesses out of leather. I ordered this black & white plaid solid harness, thinking this is quite different, but I’ll try it. Figured my cat would hate the solid piece of fabric covering him. I went to put it on him, (he’s a large cat) and it’s got wide Velcro closures. Two. That’s it. One around the neck and one around the belly. So easy to put on and make it fit him snugly. No slipping over their head, or adjusting buckles. Takes 2 seconds to put on, and this is a first…..he waits and likes this harness! You can tell it must feel good and comfortable, as he doesn’t fight me when I put it on him or walk funny afterward. Where has this been my whole life?? Buy this. Try it.

We have a 18lb cat, he measured 9 1/2in at the neck and 17 1/2in at the chest so we bought the XL. Even though he has a belly the harness fits comfortably. He obviously hates it. He is not use to this type of thing. I’ve always wanted to train him to walk on a leash and bought all kinds of harnesses and he escaped out of all of them. This one, though is the first one that looks very comfortable and safe for him. I’ve been training him to use it every day because very soon we’re going to go on a 10hr flight with him. I will update this review after we see how he handles having the harness that long. Update: Highly recommend! I wish I had found this five years ago. My cat would have been great on walks a long time ago. I didn’t even have to tie this as tight as recommended. He was confortable in it, he was safe and he looked great. If you want your cat to walk on a leash this is the stuff to buy! I cannot stress enough how much a recommend this thing. He didn’t even try to get out of it... he truly was comfortable in this. The only thing he hates now is when I have to take it off because he has medium length hair so it gets a little stuck on the Velcro. But it’s honestly worth it I’m just extra careful taking it off. Buy it!

I live on a busy street & don't have a catio set up yet. My cat was craving the outdoors. This was my solution. The harness is sturdy & easy to put on the cat. He seemed okay with it from the get go. My only problem, which might be solved with more practice, is that this fastens under the body with Velcro. My cat has long fur & I am having trouble seeing the closure ends. There was also a pulling issue when I took it off because fur got caught in the Velcro hook side. Not a huge deal but something to be aware of if your have a long haired cat.
