Very good innovative product..But I'm not sure it can break car glass..Needs to have a stronger design

Supposed to be a great escape tool from a car by breaking the side windows which are made of toughened glass. I have seen videos on YouTube of people trying without success to break these using sledgehammers etc., to get into a car for retrieving keys left inside by mistake, and they all fail because the glass is so tough. Makes you wonder how to get out of centrally locked cars in an emergency? This tool is supposed to work, but I have not had the guts to try on my car as an experiment.Waiting to come across a junked car to experiment!

Perfect vehicle rescue tool. In 42 years as a firefighter paramedic i have never seen a seat belt buckle fail to release the seat belt. I suppose it could happen but I have never seen it. I have, on several occasions have cut seat belts because from where I was at the time, it was easier and quicker to cut it than reach or struggle to get to the latch. The window punch/glass breaker however, is an essential tool for shattering the side or rear windows. They totally shatter and destroy the side and rear windows in an instant when quick egress is essential like in a car crash where there's a fire, or if the car is submerged in water, or is sinking in water. The capability of having both a glass breaker and seat belt cutter on one tool that can be attached to your key chain is an invaluable tool to have.

I was a career FF in a previous life and this is perfect for breaking side window glass and cutting seat belts. I bought this for overseas travel and for the car. It is small, lightweight, and sturdy. The black "plug" for the key ring that is in front of the razor blade does take some pull to remove, but after taking if off a few times it has loosened up, but not the the point where it will fall off. It still needs a good tug. The seat belt slides between the prongs for cutting. There is a key ring included so you can add it to your car keys. The spring loaded plunger works too. I tested it on a piece of scrap lumber. Just press down and ...POP! The metal pin inside pops out and it left a good dent in the wood. It should have no problems breaking the side window glass in a vehicle. Be sure to place the pin in a corner near the top of the window. When the glass breaks, it won't cut you when it lands on your hand or arm. You can also use the pin on the front or rear windshield, but it won't shatter the glass like the side window, but you can put spider web cracks in the glass. This makes it easier to kick or push something through the windshield like an umbrella or windshield scraper. The pin will work underwater too. You don't have to swing this to break the glass. Just press it against the window and keep pressing, it will pop. I hope it makes it through TSA, I don't see why it shouldn't. I plan on buying more for family as gifts. Update 01/31/2013: Easily made it through airport security in four countries, in addition to the TSA in the USA.

Have used this as a First Responder. Definitely works and have broken many of windows with the same one.

Neat, compact, and potentially lifesaving. I've seen several rescue tools/hammers. This tool is much more practical it's at your fingertips, no fumbling through the glovebox or under the seat. Easily attaches to your keyring just yank the tool from the ring and you can cut the seatbelt and press the spring loaded striker to the window and in a matter of seconds you can escape a submerged vehicle. Hope to never need it, however I'm glad I have it. Bought extras for family members, makes a nice functional gift for anyone with a license..

I did test one of these out on a large broken piece of glass in our shed just to see what would happen. It was a bit of a press, you need to really press.. but… It worked!! WILL REPURCHASE.. A lot of these other advertised window escape tools I have bought like the one that looks like a screw driver never seemed to work. I tested that on the asphalt outside and it never discharged. ORIGINAL REPOSTED REVIEWS: I can't emphasize enough how important this emergency keychain is! It's a lifesaver in unexpected situations.
