Do you have to adjust the dial on both sides to change the weight?

No just press the red button and turn the dial. It automatically adjusts the weights and ensures the dumbell is evenly balanced. The increments are in 2.5Kg steps on mine which go up to 25Kg

Might sound like a stupid question but this is advertised as 55 pounds but it says 27.5 pounds on items description, do this definitely go to 55 pound

I’ve bought the 55 pound adjustable dumbbell. It’s a single dumbbell and it adjusts fully up to 55 pounds. You can buy a smaller version which only adjusts up to 27.5 pounds which costs less. Depends on the range of weight you want to lift.

They are metal ... There is some plastic but the actual weights are metal !!
