It worked for me.
I am a older volunteer at an animal shelter. (You should try it. Find a No-Kill shelter in your area, or a shelter that is not yet No-Kill but wants to be, and volunteer there. It can be wonderful.) I walk dogs - mostly medium to large, young, energetic dogs who are really tired of being in a smallish kennel. Unfortunately, if you are older they can wear you down. (I mentioned the age thing earlier. I am not old, but survey forms generally find me checking the 0ver 65 years box on the age form. (Ok, perhaps I check the Over 70 box.)) Well, somehow what I assume is a groin muscle started acting up; Perhaps because of age, or perhaps because block headed, fun dog Bruce wanted to go right and I was going left. Anyway, every time I walked dogs the groin or whatever muscle’s snap, pop, or general message to the brain that said, “Ahhhhhh, what was that?” while my right leg seriously considered throwing me to the ground hurt more than just a little. I tried the “RICE” thing that Google implied would help. It did work but a few stiff drinks after sundown worked about as well. I asked my Family Practice MD, and even my ER Doc son. (Let’s just say that age and RICE were mentioned by both highly educated docs. Please do not misunderstand. I know I am old and I had some great years eating rice in regions like Japan and China, but all of the age comments plus all of the rice in China (and/or Japan) did not help the groin problem.) I decided that since most of my problems that could not be solved on Google likely had a solution on Amazon. A simple search found this Bodymate Compression Brace for various maladies. And, those maladies included the, by now very mistrusted, Groin muscle. Let me try to be less wordy and skip to the conclusion. This things works. I have walked dogs several times and helped my son install a 15 foot tall reindeer created from 6 sheets of 3/4 inch plywood while wearing the Bodymate with very minimal groin muscle complaints. The muscle is happy. I am happy. My consumption of various pain meds has significantly decreased. And, my consumption of alcohol in the evenings... Well, it has not increased. I have no idea how this product works on any of the other muscles listed, or much if an idea of where those muscles are, but I am going to just recommend the Bodymate for whatever muscle in the lower back or groin or upper leg region bothers you. It is inexpensive, much more comfortable than you would think, and it mitigates the pain. I like it.

A Must-Have for Ehlers-Danlos Patients!
I tore my labrum and dislocated my femoral head. I was about to have my second hip reconstruction and ordered this brace for its stability while I waited for surgery. This is the best brace for stability! I have Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and I would recommend this brace for anyone with this or a similar syndrome. Otherwise, it’s incredibly uncomfortable — rubs against your groin unless you strap it on excessively tight as not to ride up on you. It’s incredibly inconvenient — I’m a girl and whenever I needed to pee, I had to take the whole brace off in order to pee and then try and put it back on again without getting it too loose or too tight. The Velcro is extremely well-made which is great for washing it (the Velcro holds up), but sucks for wearing nice clothing because the velcro sticks to everything — I was having to travel for family stuff and needed to wear nice dresses, which was inconvenient. I would not recommend wearing this brace on the plane, but strongly recommend wearing this brace through the airport (really helps with all the movement in and around the airport!). I’m not the greatest fan of medical equipment, but this is a good item to purchase — I have no idea how they could make it more comfortable and still as supportive as it is, but if they could at least make it easier to go pee, that would be amazing!

For active people looking for pain relief
I am a mom w two young boys and a server for a huge, busy restaurant. I needed something to keep me in the game. Thank God I took a chance on this product. I love that its sturdy and adjustable on both the torso and thigh. You can also place ice patches in them and pain patches. Stays in place. I recently injured my hip and any movement caused sharp intense pain. Because this holds tissue, ligaments and joints in place, I can walk and bend without any sudden movement, preventing me from further injury or sharp, knife like pain. Im definitely seeing a doctor soon so please follow up w one. This is a tool for assistance, not a cure all. I do take acetaminophen to help at my job. Even w the medicine, I still experienced sharp, unbearable, crying because it hurt that bad pain. This keeps my body from shifting which happens when we get out of bed and do simple tasks. What we take for granted in our own bodies when they work well for us. And little do we realize how much processes go on to function that way until we are injured. Im thankful for products like these. Definitely a good investment.

Would be amazing but the Velcro is horrible.
I have been at a minimum level 6 pain for 4 months. A constant level 7 for 3 months. This brace at first was amazing. I’m dealing with sciatica issues as the result of 2 herniated discs. It has been flared up and made life extremely difficult. The 15 minute round trip to drop my daughter off in the morning usually has me in tears 3 minutes in. I have been wearing this brace as much as possible and what a difference it makes. It relieved about half of the pain whenever I wore it. The mlm issues is that the Velcro has worn out and I constantly have to adjust. It’s slightly bulky and hot with pants but worth it. I really just wish the Velcro and the Velcro-catchy part was a lot stronger.

This has got to be a joke, or more likely a Nightmare!!!
This claims to be for either let, but it is designed to go on the left leg. To put it on the right leg, the around the waist strap must be fastened in the back. Take one end in one hand, the other end in the other hand, then reach around in back and try to line them up properly. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TIGHTEN, at the least bit of tension the velcro lets loose. Then take the 3 straps that go around the leg, hold 2 in one hand and the other in the other hand. Reach behind your leg and attach to each other, again being very careful not to put ANY PRESSURE on the verlcro, because it will let loose. Now attempt to walk with the leg straps hanging on one side and the belt straps hanging loose behind you. You are now strapped in! Next, call Amazon Customer support and spend 45 minutes attempting to communicate with someone who neither understands or speaks understandable English. Tell her everything 3 or 4 times, slowly, and enunciating carefully. She will put you on hold 8 or 9 times while she speaks to her "lead". However, she does apologize for having you on hold every time, though you will need to start at the beginning again. Finally she catches on and offers to refund you the base price, but not the Sales Tax. When you try to explain that you paid sales tax on the order she asks 'how many tacks did you get'. Finally the "lead" authorized her to give you a refund. Then you ask for a return label, and she asks "what for?". After a couple more huddles with her lead, she tells you she will send you a return label. After you hang up, you open the last e-mail and find that you are obligated to return the item at a "Whole Foods Store". I live in rural Co, and have no desire to drive 70 miles when gas is nearly $5.00 per gallon to search for a Whole Foods Store. Total time elapsed at this point nearly 60 minutes. Fortunately, I did call back and spoke to a "real" person, got things straightened out.

Keep These Things in Mind-After Reading Many Review for BodyMate
After Reading many reviews for a brace to help alleviate hip/sciatica and/or piriformis pain, these are some things I consider when I read them. Some people confuse reviewing the item with their experience of reducing their pain. 1-Pain in subjective, what hurts someone else may not bother you and vice-versa. Everyone's pain is unique while the general cause could be very similar leading to very different reviews of this item. 2-No one is mentioning their height, weight or overall health status. Factors like weight and limitations on mobility can really impact how much relief you will get. 3a-No one mentions what else they are doing for their pain. Are they taking an anti-inflammatory to coup with the discomfort? FYI-There was a time when you needed a script from a doctor to get an NSAID, but because you don't need a script now, people don't think of them as effective. Also talk to a pharmacist or your dr before taking any medications. 3b-Are you performing stretches that a chiropractor may recommend, especially to alleviate pain associate with piriformis syndrome? Again, consult with a health care professional before engaging in any activities. 4-Finally, you have to have a realistic expectation of what recovery/healing will look like. You may not bounce back to 100%. You could be living with pain for the rest of your life. It requires management, which will be monitored by a doctor. As far as the item-it is comfortable. I am a 31-32 waist and the >32 inch belt fits fine. It smells like what new neoprene smells like, so I don't know what to say to those who say it has a chemical smell. It is comfortable to wear. I will say that I wish the support on the back was a bit more rigid. I just pull it tighter. It costs 20-30 dollars, and as such I suspect over time with all the pulling one does on it, it will wear out, like our bodies did on us. It is helping with the pain/discomfort, but I am also taking some NSAID's, stretching and being mindful of what positions I am in that cause it to be worse. I consulted a health care professional about what pain medication to take, like you should too. Otherwise, I am physically active and not overweight. Just one of those things that happened randomly.

If you have mobility issues…
If you are purchasing this product, chances are you are having issues with pain and possibly mobility. That is why I purchased this item with the hope it would help, even a little. I only got to wear it for about an hour as a test but it seems as though it could be helpful in terms of pain relief. I’m writing this review to let people know that if you do have serious issues with pain and mobility, you may need assistance putting this on. The way the Velcro is positioned made me feel like I was a contortionist trying to get everything in place and adjusted correctly. I couldn’t do it alone as I have a pretty terrible range of motion at the moment. I’m lucky that I have someone that could help me with this but ultimately decided to return it because that person isn’t with me while I’m at work. The first time I need to use the restroom at work is when the brace comes off and then I can’t get it back on myself. Since not everyone has a helper, I just wanted to give this fair warning for those this might be an issue for. I’d also add that the material has a fairly strong chemical smell right out of the package if that is something you need to consider. I’m not sure if it would fade over time since I returned it. The material itself was stretchy and comfortable enough.

It was like someone flipped a switch and turned the pain off
My husband has been to serveral doctors and a chiropractor who wanted a ($4750) treatment plan said it was his back, but his pain is along his inner thigh. He hasn’t had any back pain, but everyone ignored this. My husband is not old either, he is 29 and doesn’t have any health issues besides this pain that started 10 months ago. So, I got online and read some medical journals and articles and basically ran through the process of elimination on what it could be given I don’t have an MRI machine. He seemed to test positive to having Sacroiliac Joint pain. So after reading these reviews and people who’ve had issues with that kind of pain, I decided to give my diagnosis a whirl and see if this would help him, it’s much cheaper than another doctor visit or scan. It worked! He put it on and was able to do things he hadn’t been able to do. He was having issues getting up from a seated position especially riding in the truck traveling from job site to job site. We welds in the air, overhead and has to turn and bend his hips at odd angles which he was having issues doing, not with this on! He could barely and some days not at all be able to bend to get his socks or on or he’d be in terrible pain after attempting to or doing it. He put this on and he could bend his leg to put his shoes on like normal. After discovering this he immediately ran down our hallway to the living room and back and came back smiling and laughing because he hand been able to run in months! It was shocking at the relief it brought him and it pretty much had me in tears. It was like someone flipped a switch. Best investment we’ve made in a product under $30 for what it does. So happy with this!
