Best Deal for a FABULOUS Product
So I love this product. I am in a pretty serious recovery process, involving massive skin grafts all along my booty. They itch like nothing in this world. They are red and puffy, and sometimes painful. After many weeks in the hospital, and a few follow up visits with my doctor, I was given a prescription for Mepiform. Having been using Mepilex Lite for the last month, it didn't take much convincing for me to purchase this. This product is wonderful. Number one, its easy to cut and sticks easily to the wound site. Much better adhesive than the mepilex, though if it sticks to itself, you're done. Game over. You will not salvage that piece. Number two: its washable. Let that sink in. You can take these strips, clean them with a little antibacterial body wash, rinse and let them dry. In a few hours they are sticky again. I can usually get 4-5 uses out of a single sheet. Number three: pain, itching, and scarring have significantly decreased. I tend to put this on problem areas, ones that are most often irritated, the ones in most danger of becoming big unsightly scars. This not only helped reduce the swelling, but softened the collagen in the skin, making it easier for me to break up during my routine moisturizing sessions. (I lay there and massage lotion into my butt skin until the skin graft/collagen dissolves/looks like the rest of my butt skin) I have significantly reduced my scar mass. I no longer fear having a great big permanent red tramp stamp scar across the top of my butt. It was especially helpful on the tailbone. It was just too painful to massage for long periods of time. Mepiform has helped in leaps in bounds. My only issue is the price. Though a box is shown, this listing is for individual sheets. Okay, stupid me for not reading more carefully. Still a good deal for this product, especially since my prescription insurance ended just in time for me to need this gem. Still love this product. Absolute life saver.

This was recommended by my oncological surgeon's head nurse at John's Hopkins ...
This was recommended by my oncological surgeon's head nurse at Johns Hopkins after my surgical scars started to hypertrophy and become raised and started to look like keloid scars. Nobody told me how to use it and online instructions were contradictory. I asked my reconstructive surgeon and her nurse during a follow-up visit and they said you can leave it on while you shower. Other instructions tell you to remove it and replace it during your daily wash, and you can replace with same pieces you had just removed, but that's kind of time consuming and annoying; i know, because that's what I tried at first and i stopped using it. Now i basically leave it on for up to 3 weeks and my usually very sensitive skin has had no adverse reactions, while the hypertrophic scarring noticeably/significantly reduced. Even my reconstructive surgeon was pretty surprised. I'm using it for a 2nd 3-week round after leaving it off for 2 weeks, and will check back in. My conclusion up to this point is that this product is effective in reducing raised/hypertrophic/keloid scars and one sheet of this size can last a very long time if you use it the way i do, which is to cut and place small pieces directly over the scars and just leave it on there as long as it stays, which can be up to 3 weeks. It stays put during showers. I'm really glad this was recommended to me and that i found out how to use it. Update 2/28/16: The scars are no longer raised. Definitely try this product before resorting to the steroid injections which can cause skin discoloration which is much worse than the scar itself.

Easy way to diminish a scar
This is an easy and clean way to diminish a scar. Once my hand surgery healed and I went to physical therapy, they gave me a piece of this silicone dressing tape to use on my scar. I had always used Mederma which smells disgusting, is messy and has to be used several time a day. This tape can be removed and put back on for several days. It comes in one big sheet and can be cut to size so there is no waste. I tried using another brand and it didn't stick nearly as well. This product is expensive but well worth it. I can barely see my scar from surgery just 3 months ago.

Prepare to have your mind blown
Giving this product 4 stars because it requires adjunctive care to deliver optimal results. I was not born blessed with grace and have a habit of injuring myself regularly. I was working with a scalpel a few months ago and accidentally gave myself a particularly deep, long and hideous gash. First, I used neosporin daily when I changed my bandage. After initial wound closure/skin healing, I started using rubbing mederma onto it, daily. After 3 weeks, it was still uglier than my friend's surgical scar of similar size and age (probably because I haphazardly closed mine butterfly bandaids and hers was carefully restitched by a surgeon). It was then that I decided to switch to these mepiform sheets. After another 3 weeks of daily use, I found a noticeable improvement in the darkness of the scar but the going was still slow. Then I discovered derma rollers. This is where it gets exciting. I bought this 1.5mm derma roller on a whim, after reading some flowing reviews. After only ONE WEEK of using it in conjunction with Mederma Scar Gel AND these mepiform sheets, I saw more improvement than with any of the other products achieved in 3 weeks when used alone. The scar was SIGNIFICANTLY lighter and even FLATTER! I honestly could not believe my eyes, still can't. I feel like I have stumbled upon the holy grail of home scar removal. I'm sure there are better serums out there to use with the derma roller for scar improvement but I just happened to still have some mederma left over so I thought I'd give it a shot. WORTH IT. My scar, which was previously way more hideous than my friend's surgical scar now looks significantly less noticeable than hers. The improvement all happened in, no joke, ONE week. Here's my protocol: 1. wipe down skin with alcohol, 2. (soak derma roller in alcohol and allow to dry) repeat process twice 3. rub a bit of mederma over the scar, leaving just a bit excess so that the area is slightly moist w/the gel 4. roll the derma roller as directed over the scar (approx 10x in each direction) 5. rub more mederma over scar and rolled area, let sit for approx 5 min 6. wipe excess mederma away (mederma gets kind of sticky/flakey if there's a lot on your skin, may retention of mepiform sheets) 7. cover the scar and rolled area with the mepiform sheet I repeat this process every 2 or 3 days, leaving the mepiform sheet on the entire time, removing the sheet only when I shower and replace the same sheet after my shower. The instructions that come with the roller suggest rolling only once every 2 or 3 days to allow skin healing, I cut a new piece of the mepiform sheet after every time I roll. TL,DR - amazing scar improvement seen with only one week of use when combining the following products: 1.5mm derma roller + Mederma Scar Gel + Molnlycke Mepiform Self-adherent Silicone Dressing 4" x 7", Single Sheet

The BEST for sever scars!
Mepiform is a wonderful silicone dressing that sticks to the skin. This has been used over a year regularly and it has drastically reduced the appearance and roughness of a medical scar. It does not hurt or pull the scar when it is removed slowly and can stay on 5-10 days without removing, even through sports, swimming pools and bathing. This is better than several other comparable scar dressing that were tried. It was used on an extremely active teenage boy.

So glad I found this stuff!
My daughter fell and cut open her chin. She had 5 stitches and when they came out the wound was deep red and already forming a hard ridge. I bought an over the counter scar gel (expensive!) that seemed to do nothing. Then I remembered when I had surgery, my physical therapist had this silicone patch and gave it me for my scar. It was wonderful in taking out the redness and making it softer. I contacted my pediatrician but they had never heard of it! I am so happy I found it here. The color is perfect for her chin, it adheres nicely even after getting wet in the bath and does not hurt to take off. Just after 24 hours of wearing it, the redness is considerably less and the scar is softer. You only have to buy a small sheet because you cut it to fit your scar. This sheet will probably make at least 24 patches for us. I don't know how it works on old scars but for new ones, it is fantastic. I highly recommend it.

So far.. so good..
Purchased a sheet of Mepiform for two small incision scars from laparoscopic surgery after my doctor commented my scars were keloids at my post-op appointment (06/30). At this time, one month after procedure, scars had not become raised or grown past edges of incision as keloids are said to do and I'm happy to say, they have not to this date!! (08/01) Before getting silicone sheets I had been applying Mederma for nearly 2wks but not so much since keeping them covered w/silicone sheet 24/7. I do cut pieces to size from the sheet as incisions were very small and wash/re-apply daily for a week before cutting more/new pieces. Scars are not raised, not growing or as hard as they felt when doctor commented they were keloids so I'm very happy w/this product! Will continue to use as I understand scar tissue takes some time to complete and mine are still somewhat purple so hoping they'll also fade w/time. My fiance did also purchase some Scaraway sheets for me which didn't stick as well as these do and noticed that product box stated, "This product is not sterile" whereas the Mepiform packaging DOES state "STERILE" ..not that I suppose that matters so much since you're not to use these sheets on open wounds but still the difference caught my eye. Who doesn't prefer sterile?! :) Also was happy this product arrived quickly!!
