Streaming Stick 4K with Voice Remote - HDR10+ & Dolby Vision

This works great. It’s easy to install, anyone can do it. The interface is easy to maneuver, and you can move apps around. We got a new living room TV, and moved our old bigger one to the bedroom. One of the things I like the most is you don’t have to aim at it, or the TV. The old TVs port doesn’t have enough power for it so I had to plug it in at the outlet. It’s behind a dresser and the remote still works fine. It’s small so it’s not a problem. There are plenty of free streaming apps to add, so lots of free things to watch I couldn’t get before. Amazon Prime, YouTube, any paid streaming, even the library app (in case you don’t know, most libraries allow movie and music streaming for free!) I’ve found all of the things you can add to a smart TV. Cons The volume is on the right side of the remote and it’s kinda a funky place. I hit it by accident all the time and mute it. I have to switch source to use it from Uverse. But that’s because it’s in the HDMI port and I have to select it. I would buy it again, and probably will next sale for our old TV in our guest room that is analog and would need an antenna. I don’t want to pay monthly for another Uverse box that won’t be used very often.

So I’ve been using Roku devices since their very first one, and one of the main uses these days is to stream my own media on Plex. I’ve been pretty slavish about using the devices from Roku that supported wired ethernet instead of relying on WiFi because I don’t want to deal with buffering or lag, and just didn’t have confidence in WiFi (despite having WiFi-6). Other streaming devices (which shall remain nameless) with WiFi-only connection have disappointed me. My previous Roku died over the holidays and so I took a chance (and a gift card) to try out this Roku 4k stick. I’m glad I did. First off, I needn’t have worried about the WiFi not being up to streaming 4k video from my server. It handles it just fine. It’s a good experience as long as you have a newer router that supports WiFi-6. Second, setup was amazingly easy. They’ve streamlined the whole process, and any apps you were already using on another Roku device are instantly logged in and ready to go. New big-name apps are almost as easy, just requiring a QR code scan and a quick login to the app on your phone. My biggest complaint is that something about this Roku really pumps up the saturation in some of my own home-edited videos. I can’t figure out which setting is making that a thing, but it’s clearly something to do with the way my video editing app saves the video. Roku just isn’t playing nice with it, but that’s not on Roku; that’s in the editor. Everything else, however, looks incredibly good. The interface is snappy, and honestly I was shocked that this stick is faster to load and navigate than my previous Roku Ultra LT. I can think of only one negative point to the stick, and that is that it only works with the special remote it comes with, which I believe is a sort of WiFi direct connection. It won’t support an IR remote nor a Bluetooth one, rendering my universal remote useless for the Roku streaming stick 4k. It also won’t work with most of the stack of previous model Roku remotes I own. And of course, as with every Roku remote, the four quick-launch buttons are a pain in the neck. I only subscribe to one of the services in them, and will likely never subscribe to the others, which means accidentally pressing them is a bit of an obnoxious experience. I understand they’re sponsored and Roku makes money putting them on their remotes and making them permanent, but they could •at least• add two more buttons in there that are fully programmable to access the favorites we actually do subscribe to. The voice search function is handy, but sometimes the screen will prompt you to use the voice search when the normal manual actions are easier and more direct. I don’t really need to press the voice button and say “launch YouTube” when I can just press the OK button on the first app in my list (YouTube) and it launches. However, for searching for a specific movie or show, it’s a great feature. It’s also nice for people who hate typing on screen using directional buttons, as you can speak letter-by-letter to enter email addresses and passwords if need be. Bottom line: I’m impressed. Except for a few minor caveats, it’s a great streaming device that is responsive, intuitive, and provides fantastic video and audio quality, even up to Dolby Atmos in a 4k stream. Five stars.

I love this Roku Stick!! I wish I would have bought this years ago. I look forward to using it everyday! I have, been using my laptop connected to my TV via an HDMI cable...to watch movies, TV shows, etc. But, that was putting unnecessary wear & tear on my laptop...just to watch streaming video. This will extend the life of my laptop, as I now have Roku!! Don't worry if you don't have enough HDMI inputs on your TV....you can buy an HDMI splitter/A-B switch on Amazon for around $12. I had to do that, & it works great. My TV only has 2 HDMI inputs. Picture & Audio quality are excellent...& seem to better than when I was using my laptop. I downloaded the Roku App to my Android phone....& it's great! The main advantage for me, is I can plug my WIRED headphones into my phone & listen to movies, music, etc...that way, & it sounds excellent. The interface looks like the Roku remote control. I can also plug my phone into my Bluetooth speaker (aux IN)...& listen to content that way too. The remote control on the Roku App on my phone, works very well. So happy with this purchase!! You also get tons of free movies, TV shows, etc...included for free; the Roku channel is great. You can subscribe to many different apps as well. I subscribed to "Howdy"...for only $2.99 a month, & you get great movies...without any commercials at all. Not bad at all. The only cons are: it will occasionally stop in the middle of a TV Show, if you haven't shown any "activity" in awhile. I think this is only happening on Peacock, so I'll look into that further. The other con, is the tag they have on the remote control. I have no idea why they have a tag...I've never seen a remote control with a tag on it before now. It's not real bad, but the tag does make contact with your hand occasionally. Hopefully they will stop using a tag. They're are other ways of "branding" a product...like a simple logo, etc. Other than these 2 cons...I highly recommend buying this.

Works great. Easy setup. Turned our regular TV into a smart TV. Pulls in all of our subsciption apps. Plus Roku Live has a lot of extra channels. We got a 2nd one for our other TV which is a smart TV but had internet connection issues. The Roku fixed all that. Well worth the cost.

Let me premise this review by saying I purchased this device looking for a spiritual replacement for live, cable television that I finally cancelled not too long ago. Also, due to the horror stories I've read online about viewing premium streaming services via Roku devices I have not used the device in that manner. The Good: Well it works! And to be honest, it's the closest I've come to finding a direct replacement for the look and feel of watching traditional live, cable television. I've tried so many other services and premium services but Roku is by far the best. From the on screen guide to being able to have favourite channels to being able to view recently viewed channels, it functions much like cable. Also, being able to stay on the current channel while browsing the guide is excellent. I have found no other service that offers this other than Pluto but their channel selection is very limited. I also like the speed in which you can change channels. Going from one to the other is instant with very little to no lag what-so-ever. And lastly, the huge variety of local news channels is great. I recently moved and missed my old channels but now I can at least watch the news from back there! Woot! And speaking of channels they have a HUGE variety. I do wish they had a few more Sci-Fi/Fantasy based offers and more film channels that aren't showing the "edited for Americans" versions. I think Prime has way more niche channels that I like but overall Roku is pretty darn good. The Bad: There are a few things that I don't like. One, is occasionally it will have the fits of black disconnect screens and there is nothing you can really do about it. I assume it's network traffic as it only tends to happen in more "prime time" time slots. It gets so bad sometimes I have to stop watching it for a while. Two, although I like the remote control, there are two things about it I don't like. The first is the buttons aren't back lit. That kind of stinks when you are first using it as I like watching telly in the dark. The tag on the bottom helps me keep it in the right orientation but still. And second, even though it does work on my telly for volume and all that, it does not have an Input/Source button which means still have to use two remotes when I need to go to change over to another device. Side note, I didn't think I'd like the volume and mute options on the side if the remote but I actually like there now. Overall I think it's decent to good value for money but it's still a really good product.

I bought this Roku Streaming Stick 4K to replace my previous Roku that had stopped working. It was easy to set up and get running, and it was nice not having to figure out a complicated installation process. The compact size is perfect because it doesn't take up much space behind the TV, and the voice remote is very convenient for finding shows and navigating through the different streaming services. The picture quality is excellent, and everything streams smoothly. Sound quality is also great. I’m very happy with this replacement and glad I went with another Roku. If you already like the Roku system and need to replace an older device, this is a great upgrade!

The picture quality with this Stick is noticeably superior to what we'd been accustomed to in using the native LG OLED TV streaming apps previously. Also, the stream is rock solid as opposed to frequently dropping Amazon Prime in mid-stream and requiring the app to reload in order to continue. Initial installation and setup were simple, straightforward, and quick, and the small cost premium over the standard 4K stick is well worth it. I could not be happier with this device.
