Leap to the moon
Last time I had a soundcard that wasnt on my motherboard was back in the AMD Athlon 64 era - since then Ive just used onboard motherboard sound. Recently I built a PC without external speakers so Im forced to use my headset - and no matter what I did I couldnt get them loud enough - went through 3 headsets before I found out that the onboard soundcard is what was lacking. I remember I used to have soundblaster Sound Cards, didnt think they still existed but to my joy SB is still kickin - and I can see why. The clarity, the vibrance, the crispness, the quality of the software. Its not even in the same universe. I can hear everything, I can modify everything, I finally feel the fullness of the sound. For the first time in 5 years, I am beyond impressed with a computer component. This is a stellar piece of hardware, and the price is low. Id pay 2.5 times this amount easily. Didnt expect it to be so good, I just wanted to test out to see if the soundcard was my issue, I expected to have to buy a better product - but I dont.

Still a phenomenal value in the tech market
Soundblaster products have affordably lifted the world's appreciation of sound for decades. I stopped buying their products during that too-brief interlude when PC producers seemed to care about bundling quality sound performance into their mass-produced MOBO-centric hardware products. My last consumer PC, a Dell, finally cashed it in after ten years of honorable service as the home of my 1.2 TB music collection and the repository of a lot of personal and professional data this year and I built a new system to replace it, finding after one day that I could not live with the atrocious sound quality produced by the top-rated on-MB sound system. A $50 Audigy card through Amazon made everything better than it has been since before I had the Dell. I love my music again, and I can finally forgive my indulgence in such a ridiculous amount of music. So glad this company is still doing its thing and so amazed that their prices are still so affordable amidst the bloated tech market.

Nice replacement for my motherboard sound function.
I installed this as a replacement for the sound function on my motherboard. I could get the Rear Sound and surround sound to test OK, but could never get the rear speakers to work as rear speakers in games and music. I ended up using a splitter to split the front speaker sound to both front and back speakers. I tried to get help from SoundBlaster, but was not able to do so. It works adequately for what I need, but I am disappointed I could not get them to work. Yes, the speakers and plugs work OK. I plugged them into another sound system and they worked great.

Don't assume on-board audio trumps a sound-card
Was skeptical when I installed it given how tiny the card was. Yes, I've owned Audigy, Xonar and other Core3D cards before switching to on-board and those were all much larger than this one. I wasn't keen on an add-on audio card since the previous one blocked the airflow of my 3080 graphics card. This one has a super small profile so it works a charm. I decided to buy this since the on-board audio (line-out) and DP audio passthrough via the monitor left me with very low volume output and muffled speech. I use a Logitech Z623 2.1 speaker kit. Pleasantly surprised at how this sounds despite the Realtek chip. Driver support and new updates on Windows 11 for this card are the other reasons I picked it. I certainly wasn't disappointed and the audio plays crystal clear. It could be a bit better for gaming though and I guess that's where the higher end cards come in handy. However, for my main use, which is to watch videos and light gaming (always single-player), this is just perfect. Highly recommended!

Easy to install, and has been working great for me
After years of use, the sound on my MB abruptly stopped working. After trying everything I could think of, I gave up on it and bought a cheap $12 sound card that I saw advertised all over the web. That lasted for about 2 weeks before it stopped working too. I then bought this card. It was simple to install, and it has been working great. Before, I was able to plug my headset, which includes a mic, directly into my PC headphone socket, but with this sound card, I needed to get a "headphone mike splitter" to plug separately into the headphone socket and the mic socket of the sound card.

Disappointing simply because you can’t get support unless you play by their crazy guidelines.
If I could give a zero I would. Right out of the box I knew I was doomed. The metal plate with the jacks is dark metal with crappy stamps indicating the port. YOU CANNOT SEE THAT ON THE BACK OF A PC UNDER A DESK! Why didn’t they use the industry standard color coding? Because they wanted to save a dime. There is no other answer. Next: I installed this on a brand new PC with Windows 11. No problem, the system drivers were found and automatically installed. Thats the only thing that went right. Im sure there are scenarios where this sound card just works…but you are screwed if you have a situation where you have audio problems, popping noises, etc. You cannot contact Creative for support easily…you have to create an account with Creative which means providing all of your personal contact information….it is for that alone that I am returning this and I want nothing to do with Creative. This has always been the issue with PC’s…it might plug and play or you might have to sift through dozens of support sites deactivating resident programs, clicking boxes, scrolling through sys files. I thought for a minute that the vendors who survived the near-death of Windows based systems that they might have gotten together and worked some of this stuff out. How wrong was I.

Low Profile 5.1 output on rear of motherboard (7.1 w/ the daughter board).
Works as advertised (including the daughter board). Not completely clear from the documentation, but it does indeed come with low profile bracket (s) which was my main requirement in a Hyte Y70 case. Recent motherboards do not support surround sound from the rear panel, and don't allow full re-mapping of the existing ports so I required either an internal or an external sound card to keep all my speaker cables (5.1) on the rear of the case (instead of having to use the front audio port for surround). The daughter card provides an optical SPDIF as well as extending speaker profile to 7.1.
